I saw PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE at the theatre when it was first released, and was totally gobsmacked! I’ve owned the VHS tape, I still have the DVD and the CD soundtrack. I’ve written about it in Scary Monsters magazine. For decades, I’ve said that if ROCKY HORROR didn’t exist, PHANTOM would have taken on a different life and filled the void. The look of the film, the sets, the colour scheme, the costumes (especially the mask!), the script, everything comes together in a way that films rarely do these days. Then, there’s the music: The best thing about the film is that Paul Williams wrote the music, and the worst thing about it is that Paul Williams wrote the music. Make of that what you will.
Heheheh, that last bit is so true 😂 Never fully understood the appeal of RHPS either myself. It's fun doing the Time Warp and dressing in drag and all, but _Phantom_ is more, it's much more - it has _substance_ , and so many layers of it at that - and its messaging continues to be frustratingly relevant in the modern era, especially in the wake of AI and the SAG-AFTRA strikes. It hits so close to home as an artist, but you don't have to be one to appreciate the film either.
This would be a perfect trailer for this amazing film. I saw it for the first time in 1981 after a midnight showing of Rocky Horror--I'm happy to see there are still fans, both old and new ones.
they used the same type of voice changer (ring modulator) so it checks out... i can just picture Winslow going around haunting the Paradise saying "EXTERMINATE... EXTERMINATE" XD
I watched this movie on Christmas, and now it dominates like half of what I think about on any given day. Thank you YT algorithm. I've found my people. My ... bonkers ... lovely people.
There were so many close contenders for each letter...... come to think of it I should've made Y "y'know it just seems like yesterday I found Annette in that church choir"
I've watched this over like 40 times now and it still surprises me when 'N' isn't "No more suicides, Winslow." (My wife loves the clip you actually used)
I only heard BEEF
Excellent.
need more phantom of the paradise fan videos in my life omg
I am so glad this exists, just like the movie itself! And this is so well edited! 👏💖
obrigado por isso 🤣

2024 may your juiciest dreams all come true
*LIFE AT LAST!* Great list this would be just the thing to show someone that has never seen this masterpiece to get them interested <3

Thank you Winslow for teaching me how to read :)
"Can't you feel the vibes in your own house, man? I mean the karma's so thick around here you need an aqualung to breathe" is the Most 70s Line Ever!
Well, THIS has to be among the most interesting fan videos I've ever seen - and for a film that needs more of them, too. Top hole.
Love how Swan's creepy smile is accompanied by ":D" 😂
50th Anniversary. Sad Eddie won't see it

always thought "I" would be "Ink isn't worth anything to me Winslow, now sign"
There were so many close contenders for each letter...... come to think of it I should've made Y "y'know it just seems like yesterday I found Annette in that church choir"
I couldn't stop laughing. This was perfect.
"S" is exactly what I hoped it would be.
Greatest line delivery of all time, not even close.
This is amazing
This is so perfect! Especially 1:15 and 2:11! ;D
