This video is the first educational video that I have had on my channel and I think it is SO important!! Three VITAL Steps to Flipping Furniture || WITH a Paint Wash Tutorial
Huge downgrade, from antique to basic modern design.
I appreciate the honesty and hope it doesn’t ruin your day too much!
Huge downgrade, what a waste
12 million tons of furniture is trashed a year so I would say helping it stay in the family for more generations is FAR from a waste!
I dunno about painting over some of the woodgrain. People want contrast within contrast nowadays, but I just want as much exposed wood as possible. Everything is dystopian angles and oppressive colors in modern society.
I totally appreciate your opinion! It matches her style beautifully and she wanted to emphasize the wood grain on the drawers while tying it into the aesthetic of her room so this was perfect for her!! But I appreciate your feedback!
A-at least it's getting a new life and will last long because the original was good quielity? I just really hope that the millenial core and neutral core ends SOON
Maybe soon, or maybe it’ll never end🤷🏼♀️
every Asian i know owns a piece like that 😂
Hmm..that’s something..
I disagree. I think that's the great thing with the painted look. You can change with the times. My mom had a nice mahogany set. It just doesn't match anything in most houses I know
Very well said👏🏼
That's true, actually my dad got a gorgeous mahogany dresser set from his father it doesn't match anything in the house either but it outshines everything in the house even as it is and I just about got whooped putting a hot drink once on that thing. Not matching the aesthetic doesn't mean dumbing it down to match the aesthetic would be a great idea though.
Wasnt an improvement, you may not like the red mahogany look, but the look was actually quite nice, you went from a red mahogany to the basic millenial grey and beige asthetic which is known for being basic or sterile and boring... It was definitely a downgrade, the red mahogany stain had a lot of character. It may have been a something to try a blended darker stain on top of the red mahogany not painting it, then it wouldve given it a semi gothic vibe. The natural grain of the wood being visible through a stain looks better than covering it with paint. The drawers being stripped and looking faded and aged look was, i dont know other than saying not a good look. The metal pulls were nice before. Congrats to making money on it though.
That’s the great thing about commissions, I’m not going with what every other piece looks like, I’m going with what the client wants for THEIR home! My client absolutely loves this look and it fits her home phenomenally well! I think that the black paint contrasting with the drawers really brings out the wood grain and the black pulls really tie it all together. It doesn’t have to be liked by everyone except my client!☺️
@@MariahFlipsFurniture oh thank goodness. But still such a shame to ruin a lovely stain. At least it wasn't damaged just a restain and paint.
@@llyevaleandre7962 *refinished not ruined! Totally different results!
Wow those drawers were nasty. Good job breathing life back into a cool piece
Thank you!! I appreciate it!!
Wow!
Thank you!!☺️
Line the detail on the inside. Good job
Thank you!!🙌🏼
But the chin!
Dawg ur a real one
About the most wholesome things I’ve seen in a very long time. You’re a good father.
It’s hilarious 🥹🥹🥹 You’re a favorite!!
Good job. Beautiful work once again. Fun to watch you get better and better
Thank you as always!!!☺️☺️
Goodness, Mariah! I know that was SOOOO much work! It looks so great now! For strippers, I have grown to love GreenEZ strippers and their finishing spray. I use the stripper, scrape off what comes off, then come back with the finishing spray and a steel wool pad to get off residue and paint that is still there. Then I wipe it down with a paper towel. I believe I have seen others come through with mineral spirits to clean up stripper residue as well.
I love that!! I have been wanting to try GreenEZ so bad so this is really helpful!! Thank you Rachel!! 🥰
Love the updated look!
Thank you!!!☺️
Hi Mariah! It turned out really nice! You might just try when removing very thick finish, just using a thicker layer of stripper and leave it a bit longer. You worked so hard but it was worth it!
Or maybe a carbide scraper.
@@shawndelaney9311 yes that might even be better!
@@shawndelaney9311I tried a scraper and that wouldn’t grip the finish! It was too tough!😭 I love my scraper and always work at it first!
I love that! I tried a thick layer of stripper but felt like I was going through so much of it! Is there a brand you recommend??
I have always used Clean Strip. I don’t waste time on anything that isn’t very strong. I can’t remember which one you used. I was watching Thomas Johnson on YT restoring a Lane Acclaim mcm coffee table and he had to use a second coat of stripper on that piece- so I felt justified for when I’ve felt the need to do so!
So much work!! It looks so much better now!! Love your attention to detail!
Thank you so much Remy!!! I appreciate your love and feedback always❤️
Love mine too! ❤
❤❤❤
Great information! I think I’m going to take the strips with me when I know I’m buying old furniture. Would rather not lose money. Also, I’d feel guilty knowing I was putting the person picking it up in danger. 😊
That's smart!! It is way more common in painted piece rather than stains! I hope that helps!
Happy Anniversary Girl! I connected with you during the Flip Off! I am so proud of you! I love your work, you will go far! Kudos! 👏🏻❤️
Thank you so much!! Thats so cool, I am so glad you found me from there and watched it as well! I appreciate your support so much!! It means so much to me! 🥰

Thank you so incredibly much!!! You’re so sweet and I appreciate it!🥹❤️
You’re doing SO good 🙌
Thank you!!!! You’re so sweet!!🥰
As the great philosopher Borat once said. Very nice
Thank you!😂
I really love videos like these, BUT I want to know how much you sold it for. I love watching people grow their small businesses. Can you share how much you spent and sold your furniture for?
So a typical piece I spend about $80 in materials + whatever I pay and then can sell for about $500-$750 depending on the dresser size! It’s really profitable if you can save money on materials!
I'm so impressed with your work and how well produced your videos are ... keep it going girl!!!
Thank you!!! I appreciate it so much!!☺️☺️🫶🏼🫶🏼
Love it. I think I would've given up... That's a lot of sanding
I was determined😂

😊 Thank you!!
Links pls! Does it need a air compressor?
These are the two that I highly recommend! The Flexio 3500 helps for such a huge variety of projects and is a great sprayer for DIYers!! It comes with two nozzles so that you get the perfect smooth finish! And the home right is the PERFECT sprayer to get you started if you don’t have one yet! So user friendly, still has an incredible finish, and easy to clean!🥳 Flexio 3500: amzn.to/4bmI2QE Homeright: amzn.to/44HJ1Zp
No air compressor needed!!
Added to cart. TY!
Nice and smooth

Busy music
Is it too distracting?
Be careful. Wow so easy to check everyone should
Definitely glad I checked!!🙌🏼
Great info! Helps confirm my decision to not take the risk with working on pieces with lead 😌 health is too precious!
I’m so glad it helps!! Yes! After doing my research I realized pretty quickly that I wouldn’t want to risk it!
I found out last week a dresser I started working on had lead and I freaked 😆 got rid of it as soon as I could haha. Disclosed it on marketplace and someone came pretty much right away. Some people don’t care, so not all is lost!
Very helpful, thanks! Really enjoyed the Michael Scott reference.😂
Thank you for appreciating his knowledge!😂🙌🏼
Very informative! Very helpful!
I’m glad it helps!!! ☺️
Can’t wait to try the printer paper trick.
it’s so simple but seriously blows my mind!! Let me know if you try it!
Is that all freehand? Always nice to learn new tricks. Thanks Mariah!
Yes it is!☺️ Thanks!! I hope it helps!
Wow!!! What a beautiful transformation!! I absolutely love the way you took mismatched pieces and turned them into a gorgeous matching set. The two tone finishes look so great together. Amazing job!!👏👏👍👌🤩🤩🤩
Thank you!!🙌🏼🙌🏼 Yes, two tones might be my new favorite thing😍 I appreciate your comment and support so much!☺️
Good you had a cliënt, and you're made it beautifull for her, great work
