    YEAH YEAH YEAH.. As a Serbian I can tell you one thing, so much money is wasted on that church that they could build a subway in Belgrade. So many poor unemployed people here that people don't even care. Only tourists sometimes say WOOW

    Jaffa cake is under British license - at least it used to be, in Yugoslavia. Croatia has theirs, North Macedonia has theirs, but the Serbian one is the best. Bananica actually does not have a banana flavor, just the shape. We have several Jaffa flavors and five Bananica flavors.

    It's somewhat of a running theme that the Americans (Canadians included, sorry) are amazed by big, flashy, kitschy things and lack the sense of culture. I've experienced it in Milan when some Americans I met were amazed by Milan's Duomo cathedral only because it was big and made out of marble and that's it. And you guys are basically doing the same. The cathedral of Saint Sava in Belgrade is jaw-droppingly kitschy, jaw-droppingly tasteless and a jaw-dropping waste of money. It looks like a cheap cultureless copy of Hagia Sophia, and its most important feature is simply being big and being made out of marble. There are a lot of really architecturally beautiful and amazing churches all around Serbia and Belgrade, and Saint Sava cathedral is not one. It's just big and plain, an ugly reminder that nationalism lacks culture and taste and pours huge amounts of money into kitsch.

    First, the thing about people in Serbia who don't speak English is odd. Only one Russian complaint about that (Russians always complain), while we have a guy Charles Cather from Chicago (see his channel) who has been here more than 12 years (he got our honorary citizenship for promoting Serbia) and he still doesn't speak Serbian, because EVERYONE SPEAKS ENGLISH. So, it must be you had bad luck. Second, the food is expensive in Serbia, and especially in Belgrade. Because their salaries are at least DOUBLED or TRIPLED (or more) in comparison to the rest of Serbia. Some people in Serbia earn 340 euros per month (the minimum wage), while some people in Belgrade have over 2400 or more. You must know that Belgrade has more and more tourists from the West, China, Turkey, and a lot of people who came from Russia to live here, and it is the law of demand and offer, we have 16.9% more tourists than we had last year. We have these numbers higher and higher every year. So, it is normal that prices are higher if demand and our salaries are higher.

    I believe that there are more than 50% of Serbs that speak English perfektly, I wonder what is a percent of Canadians, Americans or Brits that speak any foreign langauge? In Serbia is normal to know at least one foreign language, but many people know two or more! In schools we don't learn just English, why would we, there are many other interesting languages in the world that we learn! Russian, French, German, Italian, Spanish,...., even Chinese.

    You are in Georgia?! What a surprise! Amazing! I'm glad you're enjoying your stay. Yes, the wine is very famous, some is made exclusively in Orthodox Churches, an old tradition of winemaking just like in Serbia. Over here in Belgrade we actually have an authentic Georgian restaurant called "Djordjija", and I love it! Sometimes I make at home dishes like Khachapuri (which is similar to Serbian Komplet Lepinja) and Khinkali ❤ PS. Oh,who is that?! Nick?! With a new haircut? I didn't recognize him, I thought he was a basketball coach of some junior team😅 And Rylan is so tanned, Turkiye did good for you. ❤

    Poor Gizmo, I hope he overcomes these gut attacks you'be been forced to provide him. I'm glad that you compare Tbilisi to Belgrade. The only problem is the difference in greenery. Here; no more room to plant a toothstick in downtown, and not a tree. Georgia being Influenced by Croatia ? Not even on Neptune, let alone Mars. Rylan, you were right about the wine. They have a special way of making wine. I saw one of the ceramic vases here in Belgrade, and I was amazed. They brought a "modest" size vase because of plane weight and transport issues. Search for ancient georgian qvevri wine the video from 10 years ago., get ready to read english subtitles though, easier than learning Georgian alphabet.

      You are wrong! You are not from Belgrade. The beautiful parks, gardens and forests of Belgrade as designed by Emilijan Josimovic are here to stay. The greenery is not going anywhere, and the latest modern takes on urbanity and contemporary infrastructure and residential areas like West 65, Sakura Park, Skyline Afi Tower etc. mean the improvement of the quality of life. Kalemegdan, Tasmajdan, Karadjordjev Park, Gazela Park, Manjez (esp. frequent flower exhibitions), Botanical Garden Jevremovac, Park Forest Zvezdara, Topcider, Kosutnjak, Avala, Hyde Park (Senjak), Zemun Riverside Park (Park Zemunski kej), Forest of Lipovica, Miljakovac Forest, Forest of Bojcin, Park of Friendship, Ada Ciganlija Forest (with my favorite golf course), Ada Medjica, The Great War Island (known among us in Belgrade as 'the lungs of the city') etc. And, my own house garden is pure heaven on earth, fruits and flowers in abundance, with high oak trees, chestnuts and hazelnut trees, even an array of wide fig trees. So, there is greenery in Belgrade as much as you want, literally everywhere.

      Thank you!! Here’s all the tips I follow to train as best I can: -Train each muscle group twice a week, with at least 48hrs before you train that muscle group again. -After warming up properly, train with the highest intensity you can, with a weight that you can do a maximum of 5-15 reps with. -Aim for the muscle groups you train in your session to have 6-8 working sets. -Aim for 2-5 minutes of rest between sets -Train 5-6 days a week, with 1-2 rest days per week. -Eat LOTS of protein -Sleep consistently, and a lot Hope this helps!

    I don't quite understand the part about them trying to sell things to "white people". Wouldn't "because you look like a tourist" be a more accurate term? Do you think Turks are black or something, bro? 😃 There are millions of Turks with your phenotype. Therefore, they do this not because of your color, but because you look like a tourist. Turks do not have this understanding. 👍

    • @JayandSarah

      It is on a large coach but it's not a tour company tour. You just buy tickets at the bus station, or in advance online. You go get the bus and you can buy a return ticket, you just go back to the bus terminal in Herceg Novi and get back on the bus. Coach companies run this route all the time, several times a day.

    I would have never thought that chay is a turcism for tea. In serbo-croatian it's just like that - čaj. You know, for instance when you sit and have a cappuccino in Venice on St Mark square you get one price, but very probably in a smaller bar in a secondary "street", it surely would cost less.

    • @GizmoAndCompany
      @GizmoAndCompany Месяц назад

      Hi! I totally agree - the price (about $44) was reasonable for the amount we got, we were mostly annoyed about how the price doubled from what we agreed upon, and the fact that the new price was not communicated to us before they took our card. I will admit we complained a lot in this video (lol), but we have been experiencing a lot of “tourist tax” scenarios lately and to us, and it’s been making us more aware of how these things work. We are aware that as Canadians, we have relatively high purchasing power, and if paying more than the local price will help businesses more than it hurts us, we are okay with that. However, sometimes these transactions seem sneaky and dishonest, which puts a bad taste in our mouth. But hey, that’s business! ☺️
