Hello I’m a new subscriber with a trunk project ongoing. Can you remind us what you used for the wood treatment? Lacquer or shellac… tung oil or Murphy soap. Any advice would be much appreciated. 1:29

Did you ever say how to tell a steamer from a stagecoach chest? I just recently came across a trunk that looks very similar, what caught my eye was the anchor handles. That trunk still has all of the designs and leatherwork intact

Thank you for this video= some great info here, between the history of the trunk, and the workmanship with it. I found a curve top with a lot of wear - I want to fix it up / restore it. Now I know what to label it.

I recently purchased a similar trunk at a resale store. What method would you recommend to remove the handle clasps for cleaning and eventual replacement? Mine appear to be nailed in place, and since I'm angling to replace the rotted original handles with bison leather, I'm trying to damage it as little as possible in the process.

Loved the restoration of the steamer trunk! It looks great. Can you tell me the exact products you used to clean and polish the leather and wood. I believe you said it was a combination of a solvent and oil. Thank you

Thanks for doing this video. I recently got into dough making and i see a lot of the old timers using a wood box to make rhe dough in. It looks similiar to this. I have a mitre saw so think i can make one :)

Great video, but I hesitated with the thumbs up. Why? Because you showed all the processes on camera, but did not tell us how to do them - techniques, things to watch out for, handy hints and so on. I watched your video to find out how to cut the mitre angles, but you don’t explain it. Oh, I want to make a larger version for mixing dough. Will there be problems with the base expanding and contracting when you have glued it in?

Consider making a dough bowl. Even without a lathe it can be done, though more labor intensive.

Hi, I am wanting to make something similar to this, just using the sides & top to hold a row of LED lights. My problem is I can't find a table saw with a 55 degree bevel, only up to 45 degrees. I don't actually care whether it is 45 or 55, but can it be done with a 45 degree bevel, in that case what would the angle of the mitre be ? Thanks a lot.

I married in the mid 70s and we purchased a 2nd hand bedroom suite, art deco style veneer (no inlays or fancy veneers). It was very dark so we oaint3d it canary yellow. And then i crocheted a yellow abd white afghan bedspread. Still had it in 1988. Dont know what happened to either of them after that. Australia.
