Lucy Watts MBE
Великобритания
Добавлен 4 сен 2016
Welcome to my channel. I'm Lucy Watts, MBE, MUniv, FRSA, and I have a complex life-limiting illness. I run a self-employed business offering various services to organisations, charities, the NHS and businesses, as well as services directly to individuals. I also have a successful career in patient advocacy, public speaking, charity/voluntary work, campaigning, media work, social research and more. I have an MBE, an Honorary Masters Degree and in 2019 was named the 9th most influential disabled person in Britain.
This channel has held a few purposes, including now as my channel on which I vlog about health, disability, business, employment, charity/voluntary work, patient advocacy, personal development and at times, lifestyle vlogs too. Yes, it is a bit of an 'all in one' channel, but I hope people will find my videos insightful, useful, informative and empowering - and of course interesting and enjoyable.

My speech from the NHS East of England Leadership Academy Graduate Management Training Scheme Welcome Event, Tuesday 10th March 2020 in Huntingdon. I spoke about how we can all make a difference, professionals and patients, if one is prepared to be a 'tall poppy' and stick their head above the parapet, prepared to collaborate and work in partnership, and to challenge the status quo when needed.

I'm training in support care. Appreciate this content very much. Thankyou 💪👍
Rest in peace, Lucy ❤❤ I'm sorry I only found out about you after you'd gone. I'd have loved to meet you. ❤❤
You are a very inspiring person
Thank you very much for your video 😊 sending best wishes
God bless!😘😘
Tedros is not a doctor. So, Dr. Tedros naming is a fail. Tedros is continuously struggling with the English language...as the president of WHO.
Please keep these coming. I am so grateful to see an example that this is working. I was devastated when I had to give up a great paying job. This is my best option because I just cannot live off of 800 (disability payments) a month.
You so sweet
Amazing, well done!
which social media platform do you find the most useful to get the word about your blog?
Thanks for sharing Lucy! These are good tips! Peace and blessings.
Absoloutely marvellous and thank you
Superb. So helpful. Thank you both very much.
Dr Tewodros from Ethiopia the beast man
Thank you Lucy. This was a great fear for me concerning my son who has complex health needs. I feel alot better knowing my disabled son will receive care that he requires if needed.
That is great news! Hope you are doing well during this difficult time. Thank you for being such an inspiration :)
Finding it very impressive you're managing to juggle all your usual advocacy and other roles, aswell as under taking new COVID-19 related projects in aid of our community. Sending a virtual hug!
You are such an inspiring lady, Lucy and I wish you a long and happy life doing what you do best which is helping others ❤
I saw your article shared by hospice UK about your difficult situation during the Coronavirus outbreak. So glad I came across you, I think you’re a real inspiration and can’t wait to see more vlogs etc ❤️
Came here from seeing an article on a recent news feed and you are one seriously tough cookie! Keep up the amazing work you do, your beautiful and awesome 😎
There are lots of people who like you have a life limiting disease, but do so with great humbleness. To actually say you’re the 9th most influential person with a disability in the UK is incredibly arrogant. It is really not nice at all, it makes others who are living with very challenging health problems feel small and as though their life is not as precious or important. I believe we are all equal and many contribute as patient advocates, peer supporters, ambassadors etc etc. without the limelight. I am happy for you that you have been awarded a MBE, but it is immodest to elevate oneself above others, “The first test of a truly great man (or woman) is his (her) humility" .
Another measure of a person is how they publicly disrespect someone in a RUclips video comment with no regard for their feelings or the context of their words. Supercarfan you have provided us with an excellent example of that.
Thanks for sharing Lucy. I found this a very interesting watch and seeing your TPN & stoma supplies certainly brought back some memories for me. I'm looking forward to seeing some day in the videos from you in the future & of course more of Molly. Lots of love x
I appreciate this request would take a lot of time, energy and organising help with the camera to film, however if it is possible, I think many people would be interested to see a day in the life as you go to a speaking event/conference, a day in the life at home, how you manage staff rotas etc, continuing healthcare for newbies, a video montage of all things molly can do, weekend vlog with you getting ready and taking molly for a walk in your favourite park, hickman line care tips and how tpn is set up. All of which I'm secretly hoping you already planned to do as I'm so intrigued and love to gain a better understanding of others conditions
Thank you! <3 I have multiple "day in the life" videos already on my list of videos to do -- just trying to work out the best times to do them. One at a speaking engagement, one of a day working at home, one of a day at an NHS or other meeting, one of a day filming videos etc. I have a series on PHBs and CHC planned at some point -- just waiting until my nurses are moved onto my PHB (sometime in May) so I can talk about how I manage the nurses too, it'll be a whole series going through the process, information, assessment (DST), then my PHB, how I manage my PAs, how I manage my nurses, about policies, contracts, staff handbooks, care plans etc. I hope to do a video or series for International Assistance Dog Week (early August) about Molly's tasks and other things about Molly. Also have a TPN vlog planned but am waiting until I move the nursing care from agency to PHB as I want to show the proper way to do it, as my agency nurses don't do things properly whereas my PHB nurses will be taught proper procedure according to the protocol my hospital use. Hence why I've not done it thus far. Also have loads of other videos planned too of course! Always happy to receive suggestions as I want to create content my followers and subscribers actually want from me. Thanks Fi!
You seem to be a delightful young lady. I am sure you are most deserving of this honor. The world needs more fanstastic people like yourself. Congratulations and best wishes from this Grandma in the USA.
Really clear, concise and heartfelt video! Loved it ❤️
Thanks so much for the info! Of course congratulations as well.
It been a straight day because one minute my mentor believe me next minute he don't really had enough of that again Lucy.
You really are incredible Lucy x
Thanks Molly. You are too xx
Great video Lucy, you're very wise. I really struggle with pacing as my energy levels vary so much from day to day so I never know what my limits are. Please try to take your own tips on board & be kind to yourself x
YASSSS! I'm LOVING your RUclips Lucy. Amazing on point content that the disabled community needed! xx
Thanks! <3 Got lots more to come, including a video I hope to film this week focussing on my self-employment experiences/"journey" and hopefully a series around employment and self-employment for disabled people. I really want my channel to be useful to the disabled community. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing Lucy. That pink dress is really pretty, I hope you find it comfortable. And the zebra dress is very you. I also have a lot of difficulty with buying clothes but for different reasons x
Thanks Molly. I really like the pink dress too, and I couldn't resist the zebra one! Thanks for your lovely comment xx
Great video Lucy 🥰 you have come on so much in all the years I have known you. You are my inspiration....but I have to hold my hand up and say yes I do push myself to do too much and then crash energy wise...I getting better at doing ‘something’ everyday but definitely room for huge improvements in that field. Also I too have Set myself way too high goals and extremely high standards that even I cannot live up to 🙈 the walks with Skylah are helping, as is the batec and smartdrive....but I do need work out how leave myself enough energy to make in the evenings too especially if I am going to exceed this years fundraising totals via crafting!!! Plus I need pass Skylahs final too...so 2 big goals to achieve with useless time management skills, so thanks for sharing the video I will try take on board your 12 tips......oh and 1 last thing big huggles and remember your 12 tips when you look into the mirror they apply to her too 😘 love ya lots D xxx
I’ve got a chronic illness too (cystic fibrosis) and it’s nice to see a CI warrior on RUclips sharing your story. I hope your well?’’
Nice to 'meet' you, I'm okay thanks, health not the best but life and work going well. I have had (and sadly lost a lot of) CF friends, such a misunderstood condition. People think it's just respiratory, but it's so much more isn't it. Great to connect and I look forward to keeping in touch. Lucy
Lucy's Light I’m sorry to hear that about your friends I’m but yeah I agree CF is widely understood but look forward for more videos!
Thanks for the value here. I think I tend to go all in way too much in then burn out which has a residual effect on the next few days. You're inspiring, thank you :D
Yes, I still do that at times and then pay for it, but sometimes needs must. However I do try to pace when I can, to try and prevent the constant boom and bust cycle. Sometimes you just have to push on and do something knowing you'll 'pay' for it, but generally we need to try and prevent that being our only way of doing things. Thank you!
@@LucyWattsMBE Of course!
Loving that you're bringing your work to RUclips! Brilliant, fantastic talk and couldn't agree more with everything said.
I'm in stitches watching this, the bright side of reality is the humour! Great video Lucy :-)
Thanks for your refreshing honest Kate and Lucy. This is a great conversation to be able to have.. a real blessing.
It's so important to make these decisions whilst you are capable of doing so. Thank you for making these videos Lucy. You are looking fabulous right now! 😊 long may it continue 👍🏻
I agree congratulations
how wonderful. Well done and many congratulations.
That was amazing Lucy. Well done. Xxxx
really awesome job Lucy! 😊
