    I like the idea of analog. I just don’t get why you want to do analog just to converted to digital… you might as well shot with your phone. It is like making mp3 files from vynil records.

    I looks like a good product, but for that money I might just go and get a dedicated 35mm scanner. I just don't see the value in terms of what you actually get delivered for the price you pay. The utility is totally there, but DSLR scanning to me has always been the budget alternative to getting good scans.

      Coming from a rangefinder system, it often helps to always have the focus ring at infinity so that you know you will always be turning it in one direction to achieve focus, rather than not knowing whether to turn the tab left or right to get the subject in focus.

Mainly bc of my love for street and good composition, and from study on youtube university lol which has been a game changer for this never too late bloomer photo enthusiast! and some content is easier to digest than others. I have the tamron 17-28 f2.8 great zoom wide lens. 28mm is best for people to avoid distortion, i agree. The distance is also important. You can get good people at 24mm if you keep a certain distance. Even with the 28mm you have to check the distance and the vertical height s well. 17 to 20 is good for vlog or product reviews, architecture, landscape, artistic photos, videos. The tamron has internal zooming constant aperture , very sharp, its weight balance stays the same during zooming. Perfect for a gimbal. 17-28 allow you to finely choose the best focal. In video you can simulate a 50mm close shot with minimum distortion by increasing the distance and use apsc mode 1.5x to get closer. You get equivalent 42mm.

    This is a great video! I have zero experience with astro photography other than occasionally taking photos of the moon. Thanks so much for making it. I’m surprised this comment that I’m writing right now (July 2024) is the first one and that this video only has 8 likes. Strangely, just recently, the RUclips algorithm started pointing me to your channel. I bought a Fuji X-T5 and a Voigtlander 27mm f2 lens. I did some google searches on that setup and it must have triggered RUclips’s algorithm to send me your way. Your videos are excellent. I hope you keep making them. All the best!

    I'm always swapping back and forth with the 35 mm and 28 mm when using the vintage Super Takumar f 3.5s. The 28 mm does better on landscapes and shines on close up with a #4 close up lens added. Great for walking around photography too. The 35 mm is slightly smaller and has less distortion. A tough choice. So I will call it a tie ;-)

    You should never pour your chemicals down the drain! Rather, you should pour them into a container and, when the container is full, take it to your recycling station where it can be disposed of properly. I can't believe people still pour chemicals down the drain! It's just irresponsible.

    I have a Nikon 85 g F1.8 that I use on an APS-C camera giving approx 128mm perspective. I have a 50mm F1.8 that I use on an APS-C camera that gives about 75mm view. I use a 35mm F1.8 DX on APS-C as a “Nifty Fifty” although strictly speaking it’s a 52.5mm equivalent. My concern was that I didn’t really have any prime wide angle. Browsing around on Amazon one day, I noticed a Nikon 28mm F1.8 g on “special” 40% off, one left, so I quickly grabbed it and I use that on my old D610 FF camera as my wide angle setup. It is perfect!! The images are excellent, rendition, color and perspective all good. I am so glad I bought this lens to “balance” my prime capability. Cheers Y’All.

    We also shouldn't forget that differences regarding the look and field of view are especially noticeable at the wide end. So while 24mm and 28mm are somewhat close, the difference between their field of view is very stark. 150mm vs 154mm wouldn't be as drastic.

    28mm is an overlooked focal length - almost like 40mm. Because they are considered as boring. But that's their strength. They are allrounders with a very natural look. And there seems to be an abundance of them online

    Near-far perspective is a function of DISTANCE not focal length of the lens. Short focal length lens only appear to distort perspective because they allow focusing closer. Thus for creative control, especially when rendering faces, one must first find the shooting distance to the subject producing the desired near-far size relationships - normal or otherwise - then choose the focal length which produces the desired in-camera crop. “As seen by eye” rendering of the size of nose vs ears on people is around 8-9ft and a 24mm - 70mm zoom will allow cropping in camera from that distance from full-length to head and shoulders and the facial perspective will be identical. If instead you were to use one prime lens and change the shooting distance to change the in camera crop the rendering of the face will change in each. You are not forced to do one to the exclusion of the other but understanding the actual cause and effect leads to a better informed choice to render seen by eye ‘normal’ or not.

  • @weareone6314
    @weareone6314 3 месяца назад

    Portraits? Your examples perfectly show the downsides: exaggerated noses, long face. Even though there is a certain aesthetics to it because of the environment view. For landscape, street photos and (nearly) full person shots I agree.

    Hi Matthew, completely agree, the 28mm is perfect for so many travel applications. I find the angles are not to severe, and distortions are kept at bay. Also great for street and people.
