    I understand that being a realtor is sort of like being Putin’s spokesman, where you have to cheerlead regardless of the facts, but are you kidding about the basketball arena? How are they going to get people in and out of downtown? Who’s going to pay for the SEPTA expansion when ridership is falling? Will Chinatown survive? Given these questions, I suspect that you are dissembling regarding your statement of local enthusiasm for the arena.

    Remember when the Phillies ownership and city officials talked about building a stadium at 15th and Spring Garden? Ever wondered why it didn’t happen?…….same reasons why residents and businesses don’t want 76!!! City Council, the mayor and most city officials, businesses, residents knew it wasn’t a good idea just to satisfy the rich!!! This place “76” will not be just about the sixers, but entertainment and conventions etc. the NBA will never be as attractive as it once was. Just think about all the beautiful things they are saying and all the things they are NOT telling you!!! This is strictly about MONEY and it’s so called “beautiful” surroundings. And you know who’s going to be a bigger winner in this……. SEPTA. Regional rails will be accessible to out of towners, connecting them to city transportation. Attendees pay for entertainment and food?!!!…….that’s what the greedy rich have for you, while they make plans to uproot you, your family and business!!! 🤑🤑🤑

The very same organization that threatened the city and the mayor they’ll move to NEW JERSEY (of all places) if they don’t go along with this shakedown!!! Build a rebuild just to have access to this stadium and all of the downtown area. In the meantime, what’s going to happen with Kensington and its surrounding areas besides being scrubbed off the Philly map?!!! I won’t be surprised if the city and its 🤑🤑🤑money grubbing supporters start building toll booths all around downtown to get in there!!! 😝😝😝

    That section of downtown where new stadium will be built turns into a getto after office workers leave at 5 PM. Twice when me & the wife got stuck at a nearby hospital there was a POS street person taking a piss in broad daylight at top of Market Street El train entrance. The greedy nogoodnic 76 er owner is going to have fans park at far away lots that will take 20 minute walk. That at 9 PM weekday game endings will be a muggers & car jackers delight.

    • @p0rridge
      @p0rridge 2 дня назад

      The arena is not in Chinatown. I understand the concerns about the potential impacts of the arena, but Chinatown also can't hold the potential development of the city hostage. I dunno if you've been on Market in that area, but it's in DESPERATE need of revitalization for being so close to City Hall. Philadelphians love to complain about the city being seen as second-rate, but turn around and stand against something like this that has the potential to reshape the vision of the city. We need to get OUT of our own way.

  • @emilo81
    @emilo81 2 дня назад

    Let's go deeper, 76 place arena will cost billions (paid for by the taxpayer) the Chinatown Communities will lose their cultural identity, the constructions jobs will be temporary, and the price I guarantee you will double because of crooked unions. Property values will increase meaning tax assessment will increase forcing lower and middle income families to move out.

    My family lived in Philly for over 17 years, having moved from New England in the early 90's. I went to Philly to continue with college (Temple) then went to University of the Arts (Philadelphia College of Performing Arts- Academy of Music) now closed. I moved out of Philly because of job offer. I had a nice home in West Mt Airy, and did not want to leave. At all. No safety concerns. We loved our neighborhood. I loved all the things to do, the city garbage removal, tree services and SEPTA. But jobs. Taxes keep going up year after year, and income cannot keep up. This is not just a Philadelphia problem. It is an American city problem. There is NO way that good governing people who work for the city's should be so short sighted to not see that competition will doom the cities. If good jobs and only great paying jobs would be found in the city, no one would leave. The best income SHOULD be from city dwellers. Once the good jobs go- and schools close, people move out and gentrification moves in. CVS, Wall-Mart, banks and the like, while somewhat important, cannot not pay what those city jobs use to pay. And here is the demise; when the lower chain jobs come into a city instead of the big business mom and pop places/ small corporations and independent schools; i.e., Wanamaker's (now Macy's) University of the Arts and the Merriam Theater (now Miller Theater) and all the nooks and crannies that are either empty or "up for lease" the city is doomed. When will the governing officials get it? Have incentives for these places to pay the highest wages, offering a diversity of workers (laborers, tech and everything in-between) so that the thought of moving isn't even on the radar. Harrisburg, Allentown, Lancaster/ Lititz- all going through the same thing. Cities are becoming ghost towns with tons of abandoned places, and the urban sprawl is widening, where dependency on gasoline, cars and higher taxes is the norm. Eventually, everything is going to look like King of Prussia. Which I hated when I lived in Philly.

    I have been remote since 2020 I moved from NYC to Philly in 2021 and bought a duplex, Now I have 4 properties in philly and moved back to NYC this year. I net around $500 in rent/month. I bought a bunch of tax abatement properties and loved every second of living in philly. Dating, food, sports, arts, and culture, philly got it all. I moved back to NYC only bc my family is here and it was easy to commute 1-2/month for work and I’d regularly go up for friends and family. Philly is very underrated, even for dc people. My friend moved here and bought two properties in 3 years. Crime is an issue but if you’ve lived anywhere in nyc or dc, you don’t even notice it. Places I’ve bought include, Fishtown, Kensington (the real jesnignto), west philly, and no libs.

      I'm glad you enjoyed it while you were here and got to invest in our market as well. That was smart! If you've got friends wanting to come down to Philly, send them my way! 🙂

    We lived in Philly while my husband did his fellowship at CHOP and I loved the city! I did not want to leave but when your spouse is a sub specialist, you go where there’s an opening. Currently on the west coast and as retirement approaches,I’d like to return. I love all the cultural amenities and the walkability,plus reasonably good public transit. Yes,Philadelphia has issues but what major city doesn’t? Philly has great potential but more importantly it is real,flaws and all.

      I agree, no matter where you live there will always be flaws. And yes Philly is "real"! We would love to have you back. 🙂🙂

    These channels just sit up and tell you all of these people are leaving these cities and they actually aren't. People do move but people do come also. I had been hearing how everybody was fleeing Los Angeles for the past 3 or 4 years and I went a few weeks ago and the population and the traffic is horrendous. I can't tell anybody has left Los Angeles. To go 10 miles takes an hour and a half. Everyday I was there, most of the time was spent sitting in traffic. It is crazy crazyly overly populated there. So I'm deleting this channel now. You just don't know what to believe anymore. This internet is a fool now. Everybody has a narrative. I mean everybody.

      I think with LA is even if people were leaving like they say theres so many people and tourists I dont think you would ever feel it.

    I have long wanted to move to Philadelphia from the Pittsburgh area. I feel like Philly has so much more to offer. My dream is to live in Center City and I have noticed some affordable studio condos there. I just need to take the leap.
