To become energy and food self-sufficient, I have partnered with Amish builders to make small houses that I add solar, batteries, wood stove, and high efficiency heat exchangers delivered for under $100K 720 sq ft in Wisconsin. I show them the "Ruth Stout" method of "no weeding, no watering gardening" which creates better soil every year. No septic or well needed if you use a composting toilet and atmospheric water generator, getting your water from the air. All this is possible to put together right now.

Our log house is one of these in the video. It's in South Texas and it's made of oak tree. It's a beautiful house.

With logs in this condition (top half needing stain and clear coat, bottom half still good) what is recommended? Can you lightly sand the top half and then try to blend the stain? Just coat the entire log? Strip it and start fresh? (I’m trying to avoid this option).
