Associated with Vinod now for more than 23 years but still there were some unknown facts which got all clarified through this amazing podcast. This conversation clearly again reflected his remarkable leadership credentials for which he is truly known for. He is well known for his visionary and inspiring leadership, outstanding management acumen, exceptional decision making, innovative mindset, driving technology evolution and a very profound figure in the industry. But other than his professional excellence, for me, what defines Vinod fully is his simplicity, humility, honesty, caring nature, down to earth personality, there for everyone and the way he fully supports and mentor relevant talent to explore more. For me he is one of the best human beings around for sure. Many times, I was asked the reason of my so long association with Hughes, my answer has always been “because of Vinod only”. Somehow you get personally attached to him the way he takes care of you professionally and on personal front whenever required. What do you need more when someone gives you such an environment where you can do any work of your interest, there is an amazing work-life balance, multiple opportunities to explore and grow, flexibility, openness and more importantly you are fully trusted. This also defines HSC culture built by one of the most inspiring leaders, and that is Vinod himself. I am personally super fan of his and always tries to follow his footsteps as my role model. Hats off to him for the way he is. Lucky to work so closely with him right from the inception days of HSC and am so proud to be associated with him for so many years!

Great to learn many new things about Vinod, even if we know each other for over 7 years. His focus on telecom and transformation in the face of challenges, is the trait of an entrepreneur, a level 5 leader, as Jim Collins mentions in his book Good to Great. His commitment to startup founders is unwavering and I loved to listen to his journey as that has many tenacious lessons for all the founders we mentor together.

Nostalgic to go through the HSS journey and Vinod’s leadership. My stay was from 1996 till 2003. Vinod and his team were my largest internal stakeholders. Strong collaboration, healthy tensions with the single objective to get the best. United top leadership at the top built a culture to reckon with. One of the best places to work. Work hard, play hard! Must memorable time of my career. Remarkable leadership, Vinod!! Someone who is with the iron fist under the soft gloves. Always came across as appropriate, approachable yet not shy of taking the hard decisions. Loved the interview.
