Vandromeda's Travels
Великобритания
Добавлен 4 сен 2020
We travel about in a Coachman Travel Master 565 motorhome, which we use for relaxation and, taking the dog, Kira, for walks and exploration. David now uses a mobility scooter, a rather nifty @TerrainHopper 4ZX, and is quite vociferous about adaptive users access...

Before I retired this was part of what I did for my job , surprising how much gets missed by folk , enjoy the new car , just picked mine up a few days ago , happy holidays to you all
Must have eyes like an eagle!!! Happy New Merry!
Hi, nice video and very interesting. Thank you for doing this. I have a question about roaming. I read somewhere that the device 'forgets' it had been placed on roaming on once you shut it off and turns it back on. In other words it doesn't keep that setting once switched off. Do you have any experience on this aspect please? Thank you in advance for your answer !
Not something we’ve been in a position to see, I’m afraid…
@@VandromedasTravels thank you so much for your toughts !!
Can you use it connected as usb modem rather than as Wi-Fi?
I believe you can, yes.
@@VandromedasTravels is there any chance you could try and confirm it works, pretty please !!
Great info, thank you David.
Very welcome
I’m listening through headphones, and sorry, much as I love Chris Rea, the constant music at the beginning is totally distracting and frankly annoying.
I know some folks find it distracting, but, others love it. I do try to get the levels such that it doesn't interfere.
Very Interesting 🤔 Could have used driving home for Christmas though 🤣 Stay Safe 😜👍🥰
Watch this space....
My sat nav is absolutely useless.... took the family to the zoo sat nav said " BEAR left " it wasn't it was a lion
You owe Gill a new pair of pants - she's just wet hers... 😂
I use a seperate Avtex sat nav you still have to specify preferences: shortest, avoid tolls, motorways, A roads etc. Then add a dollop of common sense
Indeed... we have the Garmin satnav the Avtex one is based on, and yes, same applies. I'm thinking about putting the width of the van as 16 feet, just to see what happens. Might be a giggle...
Never fully trust a sat nav of any type , will do a check of any dodgy looking parts of the trips , so we dont get caught out , not perfect still , but mostly works , safe travels and thanks for taking us along
We've run three alongside each other, two with dimensions in, one without (google maps on the fone). Might end up[ sticking with Google, to be honest. Dimensions don't seem to help much...
On the sat nav issue our drivers at work (23 plate sprinters) refuse to use the built in sat nav and they do 70k a year….. tells you enough, we don’t use the onboard on our fiat Campervan either and prefer google maps, we press mute or only record when she’s not going to speak. New terrain hopper looked a nice bit of kit, hope the batteries in yours are now all ok. Have a great Christmas if we don’t hear off you before. ❤
Oh, next week's is already edited and up awaiting release... Aye - we've had more luck with google maps. And, TBH, I rather enjoy the challenge of managing to speak before she interrupts. Usually fail, but, y'know, live fast, grasp the nettle and all that.
Try semi air on back end v b do it with a remote know worth checking out both
It's something we can think about - but if we can't up-plate, there's little point. The ride's lovely as it stands...
wtf is this langage hes talking? some english words and some are just not
It's caaled pitmatic, how, theknaas. The needs te lissen haarder, how.
@@VandromedasTravels huh?
I’ve managed to download the app so how do I link it to the panel in the caravan ?
it links to the Truma box alongside the panel, not the panel itself.
Hi both. Good to see you back. Covers look lovely xx❤❤❤
Thank you. It was lovely to be back in the motorhome xx
Was wondering where you were at, hope the Vito works out and gets you out and about, good luck in sorting the snags etc on the hab, do I hear and annoying click on the audio? What’s that about squire? Also how do you get over using copyright music, don’t you bother with monetisation?
I have no clue about the click - I think it was Gill's necklace banging on her mic, but can't be sure. It's not there on next week's vid, so is more than likely that... Also, I've got a license for that track, and other such tracks, via Lick'd - there's an attribution in the description which has to be there so Lick'd can clear it - you post unlisted, it clears in roughly half an hour, then you can schedule for release. Works well, given I've got to wait until the HD version's been rendered on YT before I can pull the thumbnail together via TubeBuddy - so the thumb and schedule get done together. On the Vito - yes, we're excited - planning day trips all over the show, to showcase what beauties and stuff we have up here in the NorthEast... The Hab check... well, we shall see what we shall see...
Lovely to see you back ☺️ look forward to seeing the new van 😃 Stay Safe 😜👍🥰
Thank you!! Hopefully not long before it arrives... meanwhile, I can hear!!!
Is this truly operational without a battery, capable of functioning continuously for 24 hours without the need for external power?
Hello, I have one of these. Removing the battery will allow it to work until you start downloading something. For normal browsing, even youtube it will work without a battery added to it. If you want to download anything, it will shut down as the port cannot take enough charge to keep it alive.
Depends on how you power it - I've had no issues running from a PD enabled charge port.
Can I know the model of this battery? Thank you.
It's the ZTE U50
poor maid, she looked sooo fed up.....i notice a lot of camping wives look thay way....ditch the boring old farts girls n go pillion a mature biker, youll enjoy life a lot more... :chuckle:
David IS a mature biker, I've pillioned him for years...
You seem very well known and in depth in testing items. With that in mind, I hope you can test the ZTE MU5001 and ZTE MU5120 if physical esim cards such as esim.5ber that allows devices without esim capability to have esim, works on these devices. That would be awesome if you can convert these devices to esim using the 5ber and similar physical esims.
It's something I'd be prepared to look at - leave it with me...
@@VandromedasTravels You are amazing! Hats off to you! Also, maybe you'd be interested to know, what are the key differences of the ZTE MU5001 and MU5002. I have searched all over the internet, also asked ZTE themselves (but no response until today), and there are no information about these. It's just that both exist. On their website, only MU5002 is available. Not sure with other regions. So there's that. Have a blessed day!
Dear Dave and Gill really enjoyed your videos they are such great fun. We have our caravan at Greenacres on a seasonal pitch and hope to see you there when you come back. Thanks for such lovely uplifting videos and love your lovely dog. Best wishes Lindsey
That is awesome! We’ll look you up when next we visit!
Thanks for the scncom recommendation, unfortunately no deals as good as yours, mostly £20 per month at the moment.
Got to catch them at the right time, methinks… I must try to work the schedule out.
@@VandromedasTravels Luckily a bit of searching on Amazon got me a good deal, £12 a month, happy with that.
Cracking... way better than normal contracts.
Is dirt cheap because essentially it's a piece of crap. If you're going to get a router that you want on the go at least get a dual SIM one what's the proper antennas and a decent gui with some actual settings you can change.
Horses for courses, I’d say. Each use case has different needs, and, have to say, under normal circumstances, we haven’t seen a lot of difference between external and internal aerials. Might just be us, but have to call it as we see it.
Not sure what that was all about😂
Channel trailer, effectively...
Ya shuda paid the extra for the hardstanding Dave, was a lot quieter, even wor lass didn't complain and she can hear a fly pump at a 100 yards 😂
original intention had been to get an awning out - didn't happen, cos rain and all, didn't even wanna risk the popup getting soaked...
Mahoosif !!! 😂😂👍👍👍
Brilliant 👏
With gin ,happy days 😊
Love it ❤😃🤣
Thanks for the mention Dave. 👍
Any time! Credit where it's due!!
Hi guys thinking about a tm454 any chance you could give me some feedback about yours pros and cons thank you
Ours is a 565, but I think the pros and cons stack up. Space is lovely in the living area, plenty of room to stretch out and pass each other doing mundane stuff that everybody does. The insulation of the van is amazing - means heating costs (UK, innit) are way less than we've had with other vans - also, on sweltering days, it's been cooler than we've been used to with others. Our beds are properly comfy - Gill usually sleeps better in the TM than she does at home! Cons... Being a big lad - 6'2 and cuddly - I can't always manage the lavabogatory with the door shut on the cubicle, but, since it turns into a dressing room cum washroom, that's not that big of an issue. The lighting system needs getting used to, but once you crack it, it's workable. The Garage lulls you into a false sense of security about how much you can carry, cos it's vast and can fit all kinds into it - but you've got to watch the weight a tad, else the back axle may be overloaded while you're still inside the MAM of 4.5 tonnes. Would we swap it for something else? Nope - not easily. We've yet to find anything remotely affordable that suits us as well as the TM does. And, apparently, Gill's not keen on me flogging her kidney to get a Morello...
@@VandromedasTravelsthanks for getting back so quickly as you probably realise I meant 545 fix bed this will be our first home and a toss up between tm 545 and the auto trail delaware thanks again it’s a great channel I’m learning loads
Our pleasure, and thanks for the compliment.
Hi guys. They seem very well organised in there. We have a similar issue for our dog. We would have to take him for the overnight stay so one of us would have to be in the van. Great idea though for staying over.
Couldn't fault the warden volunteers - very helpful and cheerful... Aye- shame about lack of dog friendliness in the venue, but it is what it is...
Nice to see the journey in from the parking area , something different 👌
Indeed... nice little walk, as if you don't walk miles once you're in there!
Hi David. New to your channel. I think we passed your outfit on Saturday heading north as we were heading to the NEC. Not many Coachman TM towing on the road. Which brings me Nicely to the question. Where did you get the tow ball fitted please or can you recommend anyone? We have the TM 545 we picked up from Kimberly Darlington. Thanks. All the best.
It'd likely have been us, aye!! We got the towbar fitted at Armitages in Ferrybridge - grand folks to deal with... Did it take you log to get into the NEC? The queues on the M42 were horrendous heading into the place...
@@VandromedasTravels Hi David. It took forever. We set off from Bishop Auckland at 7:15 and arrived at 11:15. That’s the longest it has ever taken me to get there. Next year might take the MH and stop over. The roads down there were never very good but that was shocking. Thanks for the info.
Tomorrow's video is all about the pop-up site - might be useful...
David. BRILLIANT. Thank youvso much for doing that. I now have an item for my xmas list. Will be getting one of the ridge monkey induction pans for the bacon butties. Don't you know..... ( to borrow a phrase) And the Aldi diesel sounds like exactly what we discussed. Will start saving my pocket money from today. As you say it sounds like a drop in replacement so i will guess at more than ten bob for that. But i 5hink it is definitely the way to go. Thanks again for taking the time to do that. Cheers. All the best M.
Happy to be able to help! Aye . It’ll be at least £2.10
@VandromedasTravels I was thinking more like ten bob and s rabbit skin. ( but you have to skin the rabbit yersen. ) Thanks again.
my pleasure...
Interesting on the Ridge Monkey induction and the alde heating - it’s massive isn’t it! All the very best, David & Rachel 👍
It really is! I do like to ferret stories out - takes me back to the days when I did it for a living... Take care...
Interesting the U50 is not listed on the ZTE website!
I think it has different names in different markets...
We love the NEC show, soo much to see and always new things coming out, it’s a very long day but well worth it, we’re currently away in Chatsworth so couldn’t make it this year,
Thank you. Totally agree, it is a very long day. Enjoy Chatsworth x
Enjoying these vlogs , seems as we are not going this time , look forward to more
More to come! Things to see, people to see, £2.10 to spend…
Heather is going Thursday and Friday and Saturday I’m just Saturday, no idea how I’ll make a vlog look interesting after everyone else has released a video 😂 Ecoflow “do we need 10?” Tip… start at 20 agree at 15.
Oooh - that means the Delta 3 PRO series, then.... ;)
Would that mean you may be selling the extra external batteries you have now to go with the Delta 2?
If the plan comes together, very probably...
@@VandromedasTravels please keep me in mind for one or two, depending on priced 🤞🤞 if so that would be much appreciated 💙
So noted!
Guess you stumbled across the £535,000 one on the truck chassis 🤣
Indeed so... and then realised that would mean yearly medicals, so swerved it...
🤣🤣🤣 interesting the vito will tow a lusso though 🤔😉
Don’t you start 🙈🙈🙈
David here... He's started, so he'll finish!!!
How come you moved the dish , thought above the bed was ideal as not on show , did I miss something?
12 volt outlet and standard router in that wardrobe - so makes for permanent power and the option to run via the router without massive cable runs. Also, easier to get at, cos David exceeds the weight the drop down bed is rated for, and the possibility to angle the dish for optimal signal.
We have just tried the mini and I used the full 50gb of date over 4 days total usage 4hrs and 28mins watching Netflix I am now trying to send it back as I am not willing to pay the £96 for unlimited, I am sticking to my sim date as I seem to use a lot less date doing the same thing
50 gigs was always a non starter for us. I do terabytes per month, never mind 50 gigs. Reduced from too many contracts to just the one for data, and we pause when we’re not using it. It’s not for everyone, but it suits our needs.
Starlinking across the universe 😉 Stay Safe 😜👍🥰
I love tech - when it works...
Another great vlog.... looking forward to seeing the outcome.... I have another challenge for you at the N.E.C. can I pm you ?
Of course...
Great video. I’ve bought the MU5001 but on investigation I’ve read that the system only uses the aerial ports to boost the signal for 5g so when you are on 5g it will use the aerials but if you’ve got a weaker signal on 4g it doesn’t use the external aerial which sounds ridiculous. Do you know if that’s true?
Can't see it being the case, quite honestly, and it certainly doesn't seem to have been the case when we've been ou t and about with it...
Great vlog. We love the Space... in the A. class. I did a little mod to the table which gave us more room to get round it. But the extra space was a deciding factor when we got Genny. Can you have a look and see if there is a type of """ pan """ like a ridge monkey. That works on an induction hob.... all the monkeys are ally... Fire sticks work. The dry powder works but if you use it inside your van then your next step will be a rewire... as the chemical eats away the insulation on wiring. I will involved in a fire on a boat where dry powder was used.... the result was catastrophic. We had to do a FULL rewire of the engine control systems... We have a fire stick and a liquid extinguisher. No dry powder...... We also have starlink so looking forward seeing your power solution . .
I shall see if I can locate said pan - loads of folks have been caught out on inductions with RMs... somebody muxt have sorted it. Good info on firestick thingies and dry powder - didn't know that...
Have you invested in the eco flow alternator charger
Not as yet - but it’s very much on the cards. Just need t find the alternator terminals in the elastic trickery cupboard in the boot.
Only tend to go every other year , the bike museum is only across the way from the NEC BTW 🤔 , not a fan of the A class and alot of continental style motorhomes , the hab door is on the wrong side for the UK , does work in Europe though , look forward to all the vlogs , saves my legs , as for the loos issue, not found a problem yet , thanks for taking the time to share
The door thing is a thing, aye. On the loo front, ours is one of the few we’ve found that has the legroom with doors closed. Same on planes…
