Chasing Giants on Lake George
Просмотров 4,3 тыс.2 года назад
We wanted to share our experience with catching a Lake George giant with you. I guide for smallmouth bass and lake trout on Lake G. but what sets us apart from all the other guides is that we exclusively jig for these fish - no trolling. So here's the last couple of minutes with a giant. Special thanks to my good friend Erick Khiss on the video.

How do you purchase some of your hair jigs ??
You can just text me what you want. I charge 5 for jigs tied on owner hooks and 5.50 for jigs tied on gamagatzu hooks. Both are super high quality hooks. 517-488-3224 Thanks!
What state are you fishing?
I guide in NY and Michigan.
I'm a firm believer in this technique I use it in all my BASS tournaments
Agree!
Is this lake in Up$tateNewYork??
Yes it is...
Great video man! First time to lake geore was last year in june and we nailed them. Great time. Keep up the awesome videos!
Awesome! Thank you!
Hey can you give an update on your skeeter? I noticed you have bow graphs...you got to be one of the few skeeter sx boats with bow graphs. Mind sharing how you did that and also top speed with the 250? Thanks
You bet. I love the Skeeter SX 2250. This is my second one. I bought and sold a 2019 and the current one I am running is a 2022. When the guys at Lake Drive Marine rigged it, they put both graphs on a single mount that I bought from Geiger Tech. The guys there are great. The 250 is a boss. I baby my boat and haven't buried it yet, but I have gotten it to 55. I think it will go even faster than that. Let me know if you have any other questions! Check out my newer videos and you'll see how I rigged the Garmin's with the 2022. Thanks for watching!
Come up north next year and I will take you out on a nice lake
Would love the opportunity. I keep my boat on George and never pull it to fish other lakes. There are a lot of lakes in that area that I would love to fish.
@@freshwatertherapy4338 I have a boat
Excellent video,glad I caught this,good help
Glad you enjoyed it
How big ?
So hard to know exactly. With water temps up, I try and release the fish as quickly as possible. I think this one was 36" or bigger. 12-15 lbs?
I woulda flipped on the dude with the net for first fish lol
Lol - I usually net my own fish. He's a good guy - just not super agile.
So that's probable what bumped into me as I was wading at Lake George.
They would only be up shallow early or possibly late in the season. They have a preference for cold water and might bump a leg during that time frame. In the summer we find them deep - often in over a 100 fow.
My father in law and I fish these plastics and we absolutely slay bass and crappie
Sorry I'm just seeing this. Charlie Brewer Sliders are amazing. We do equally well on walleyes and pike with them as well.
Love jigging for them if you ever want any new techniques and areas that are got you Can ask me
So sorry that I'm just seeing this! That's awesome! I have learned a ton by just trial and error. I would love to pick your brain. What part of Lake G do you fish?
@@freshwatertherapy4338 this is my dads secret but I’ll tell you lots of people fish there though idk how to explain this but you know some island fish about 70 to 90 feet off of bottom idk if you have live imaging but if there just nibbling reel up at a pretty fast speed and they might chase it also best bait secret
I shouldn’t tell you this it’s the candy but use a white tube with a half oz or quarter ox jig head fillet the seide off of minnow that’s it just one sauce with fillet knife dangle it off hook barely then drop all the way to bottom do the tiniest taps you possibly can so small
@@freshwatertherapy4338 I meant dome island not some island it’s close to like a trail that you can walk on it’s near rocks
@@freshwatertherapy4338 right before it start narrowing down that hill go about a decent distance from it
Hey man. Would love some tips if we could connect somehow. Every year my family rents a boat there end of august- I supply all the fishing gear and everyone relys on me to set them up and help them catch some fish- only problem is we’ve been striking out (pretty much just use senkos since no one really knows how to fish) hope you see this!!! Thanks
Sorry for my late response. Here's my biggest encouragement - you can't catch fish if they aren't there. I fish deep for fish - very few fish near shore. Lake George is full of off shore structure. That's where you want to fish. I would highly encourage you to go on a trip with me - you will learn a ton. Hope that helps!
Just started fishing a couple weeks ago and I’m hooked! Caught my first bass the other day. I live local to LG and can’t wait to find a spot and try my hand on that body of water! Great video. Keep up the great work my guy!
Lake G is an amazing lake. We've been geeking out over lake trout this summer, but the smallies and largies are amazing. Let me know if I can do anything to help you.
@@freshwatertherapy4338 going to try my hand on lg today. Any suggestions for shore fishing? I don’t have access to a boat but want to try my luck.
More videos!! :)
I'm out here to fish just not sure where to fish
So sorry I'm just seeing this now. Would love to try and give you a couple of thoughts on where to look...
Are you in Lake George right now.
Yes - will be here until August 19.
Lake George is amazing, been coming every year for over 25 years. Can't wait to come back in July and chase some smallies. Your content is awesome!
Thanks so much! Let me know if I can be of any help to you when you're here!
lake george minnesota or ny?
New York
Just sub'd. The question of where you are dropping line is mute once the background of the distinct islands and mountain ranges are taken into account. I only get up to Lake George once a year from NC and that is in the middle to late August. I fish for the enjoyment regardless of catching anything or not. Catching is preferred.
What color you recommend my friend
I like blue chrome. But I own every color they make and they all can work.
You are an underrated channel. Lake george is an underrated lake. The beauty and fish of this lake cannot compare. I was living there for most of my life and had to move. I hope to move back someday. You have earned a sub my man
I appreciate that! And you're right, it's an underrated lake. I have fallen in love with this fishery.
What are your favorite spots around the spawn to fish? We fish a lot around tongue point and into that main cluster of islands with good luck.
I know this might sound lame, but I don't ever get to NY in time to fish the spawn. I do see some males on beds but all the females are already gone. I've never fished that far down into the islands. I need to get out more lol.
Fantastic work Isaac and joe! Hair jig video next?
I got so busy guiding that I didn't capture nearly what I wanted to in footage. The hair jig bite was really good. Caught a ton of big smallies on that presentation. Still one of my all time favorite ways to fish on Lake G. I am going to try and get something out on hair jigging as soon as I can.
good message, I wish more charter captains would think this way about the resource. Much respect!!
North in the narrows or south basin? Are you running jerkbaits over weeds, rock piles, off points, structure or pretty open water where you mark fish? Thanks Joe keep up the content, love it!
Hey Mike, text me and I'll share more with you. Thanks!
Joe is a great guy who will put you on the fish. He fishes the northern end of the lake out of Silver Bay where there is much less boat traffic and the eastern shore is protected forest preserve.
Fun video! Tight lines:)
Thanks! 👍 More to come!
I went fishing with Joe from Freshwater therapy the other year and he put me onto the largest lake trout of my life and taught me a lot about how to fish lake george. His expertise, desire to fish with lightest gear possible, and respect for the fish and the environment are all excellent. Book a trip with him or watch these videos to learn and become a better fisherman. Cant wait to see more episodes.
Tyler, thanks for the kind words! Let me know if you'd ever want to get out with me again!
Great pike!🔥
Thanks! 👍
This is a stitch kinda wish dad and I were into fishing like you are. However years ago it used to be very simple! LOL, Mom
Great video 👍🏽
Never thought of using those silica gel packs. Great idea
Super nice to not have hooks that get all rusted out! Saves lots of $$$
Love fishing with Joe. The most professional, knowledgeable guide/fisherman I've ever known. Never been shut out! #freshwatertherapy is the BEST!
Sliders in 3 inch and 1.5 inch are great for walleye in central illinois as well.
I lived in central Illinois for a long time. Where do you like to fish? I spent quite a bit of time on Lake Evergreen and Lake Bloomington.
Brings me back to early mornings with you in the ice.
Were are you at ?
We fish all over. But this ice fishing was done in northern MI. Can't give you more details than that.
Keep the videos coming !!!
Nice job Joe! I've never been ice fishing and I didn't know about all the options...very informative. Can't wait for our Spring fishing excursion!
Great action Joe. Fresh perch go for $29.99/lb.
I caught my 4lb smallmouth on a twitch bait with you guys
That’s a good memory! They catch everything.
"Banner day"! Great action packed video.
I tried these sliders for the first time last Spring. I have been fishing for 35 years and i had the best day of fishing in my life. I actually caught 6 pike and a walleye in 7 casts that day. Epic number of smallmouth and other walleye since. I will always have a healthy selection of Brewer's slider grubs in my box.
That's a huge laker. I've always wanted to catch one.
Micah's so young.
If you can, I think I'd be awesome to do a catch'n cook walleye video. If possible.
I've always wanted to catch a laker.
Nice music
