This is a good aspect of it. I was always interested in technology, but I couldn't pay for school. So I worked construction. I got an HVAC license studying on my own. I eventually made enough to pay for the school using my construction and tech skills by joining Geek Squad. I furthered my interest going from in store to working in home. I went through computer science courses and certifications in my spare time. I just landed a remote 80k a year job overseeing technicians doing what I used to do. While building programs or working on other projects freelance. Just feel a drive. Be curious about something. Fall into it. Dedicate time and learn it. Never give up.

Get too overzealous with it and risk fucking up the pipe. Spare yourself the headache and get a monument olive remover with a drill attachment. Comes off in a second, and the olive can be reused if needed.

Those are some useful tools. I love my good old fashioned basin wrench and we also have a couple different ferrule pullers which I find incredibly useful. I think some overlooked handy tools are a shop vac. We use a shop vac for everything even clearing drains. Also an oscillating multi tool. We use those constantly.

I like the telescoping handle and it slides smoothly. I like that the upper jaw is longer than the bottom jaw so you can kind of hook that on the corner of a nut to spring it open, or can grab that tip with your finger. The teeth on the jaws have good sharp grippy teeth, unlike some cheaper import tools. The end cap which is red, I thought initially was plastic but I now think it is metal. Maybe cast steel. It allows the insertion of a screwdriver as a longer T-handle, or a 3/8" drive ratchet wrench or extension bar in the end. This addition seems unique in basin wrenches and is genius with 1 fatal design flaw. Because the T-bar handle is permanantly installed, even if you extend the wrench (or don't) the T-bar hits obstructions like the plumbing lines and drain pipes and traps. They should have made that handle removable. It gets the job done but is expensive by comparison to other telescoping handle basin wrenches. I might consider cutting the end off the T-bar and putting a small cotter pin or something through it to keep it on but make it removable. Or possibly cut it off, thread the end, and put a cap nut on it, making that T-bar handle removable. It's just in the way. Alternatives at similar price points include the Pipe Vise basin wrench socket at $50 (brilliant in my view, but made in china), The Ridgid 31175 model 1017 at $38-$48, and the Ridgid 46753 which looks like the cadillac of basin wrenches. But a $25 asian import basin wrench with a telescoping handle probably works pretty well too. I tried to buy a used one for $18 to find out, but they sent the wrong product. One cheaper alternative I’d skip is Home Depot’s Husky brand. The teeth on that are shorter and rounded off and I saw a lot of reviews that said it slips. It also looked at it in person and wasn’t impressed.
