Once the railway buggered off, thanks to Dr Beeching and that repellent individual Marples, that was it for Withernsea. I don't think it ever quite recovered. As a kid I travelled to Withernsea under steam and diesel, but once that was gone it never felt the same somehow...

My first job involved going to an old dockers canteen on Victoria dock past the stacks of timber, it was always busy. There are houses built on the site now the old pub who's name I can't remember must, unlike the dock must be enjoying a second life.

My god this brings back happy memories. Brought up on Hedon road as a child Earle’s Road was our pathway to years of happiness playing and exploring Alexander Dock. Thanks for this video.

So I'm assuming the public footpath that leads down from the viaduct is where the railway track was that went down to the station? I'm guessing the trains would have had to reverse to go down that track bed (footpath) unless there was a giant loop for a gradual descent?

Always fascinated by the steering mechanism on these carriages. They let the land train sneak through the tightest turns unlike lorries and can travel along the narrowest of routes. Truly unique vehicles even if they're a tad boring compared to railway trains

Just come bàck from skipsea sands and i cant see the big site lasting long, as no beach will put a lot of coming to stay.

Nice it is a lovely route along the coast like Whitby to Staithes sort of area.
