Historical Clarinet Diaries#5: Mozart Adagio K411 for two clarinets and three basset horns
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.4 года назад
This week's historical clarinet diaries is all about the basset horn - not a horn at all, but a big clarinet in F (a fifth lower than an normal Bb clarinet), with an extended range to a written low C. It shouldn't be confused with what we now call the basset clarinet, the instrument that Mozart's clarinet concerto was written for - that's an extended clarinet in A. You can hear more about the b...

Historical Clarinet Diaries #3: H. Baermann Air varié op. 12 no. 2
Просмотров 2,9 тыс.4 года назад
This week's 'historical clarinet of the week' is my copy of a 10-key clarinet after Heinrich Grenser (Dresden, 1810). This is similar to the instrument that Heinrich Baermann would have used for the first performances of Weber's clarinet concertos, so I decided to record a piece by him. Heinrich Baermann was born in Potsdam in 1774. He studied in Berlin with Franz Tausch before joining the clar...

The Baerman-Otte...

Many Thanks for such a Thorough Presentation of the Great Clarinet! I am hopeful that the Viewers would take a bit of time to see Stavros Pazarentsis and Hüsnü Şenlendirici...a Greek and a Turkish player respectively playing the G clarinet Albert system. This music is in many modes[118 modes in a Classical Ottoman Theory book...]. The microtones are produced by partial covering of holes or by embouchure. Greeks and Turks are your colleagues and they deserve your attention for living so much the Clarinet! ☆☆☆☆☆

2:27 I wonder if venues like that were so huge partly because of some old instruments' carrying power. Just compare the decay times for the reverb on her normal speaking level and the chalumeau's.

Hello. Many years ago, when I was a kid, and heard "Lily was here" from Candy Dulfer - I wanna play saxophone. But my teacher in small town was just a drunker... He was good musician, but bad teacher. I hate those lessons, left school after 4,5 years and never take Saxophone in my hands again. Why I told that sad story here? Teacher must be not only good musician, but nice, kind person. Like You. Many peoples and kids fell in love not just in sound of music, but in view too. Cinema proving my words. Why so little videos from You on network with so harmonic, beautiful instruments? Why? (apologies for my language - I never learn English grammar).

I would like to try a chalumeau, along with a book of music for unaccompanied chalumeau. There's a lot of music that fits an octave plus one. Bach's celebrated Aria in D (Air on a G String) being one example. The problem is finding it all in one place.
