You are very smart, visiting Dubrovnik in the winter. You got the whole town to yourself.
It was. But I avoided the storm by the whiskers 😅 I chose late November becuase of my schedule but I think late SEP - OCT is the best.
@@kittens103 Indeed....late Sep is when I go on vacation also.
thank for explaining the ride....
Wonderful. Thanks! My fave Donegal ride is further north - the R254 from Doochary village (where I park the car) up into the back end of Glen Veagh Nat Park. Fab views. Descend to Churchill, left onto R251 past the main Glen Veagh entrance and up past Mount Errigal. (Stunning view of Poison Glen, Dunlewey and the lake). Gweedore, at Crolly, right turn - R259 for the lovely Rosses peninsular via Burtonport to Dungloe. Then back to Doochary via N56, R252 (Total 75 to 85 kms?)
This is fascinating because I hadn’t even considered riding in the northern part of Donegal. Of course, it’s always an option, but the website I explored highlighted some truly stunning routes in Ireland, and Glengash was among them. The area is known for its unique charm-particularly the ascent/descent near corkscrew hill. The recommendation is greatly appreciated, and I’m excited to give it a try. The total distance of approximately 80 km sounds ideal, though I might extend it slightly to explore more. For example, near Carrickfin? there’s a river with a picturesque landscape that reminds me of Norwegian Fijord. I occasionally pass through it while driving to or from Donegal, and it never fails to amaze me. I’ll definitely try out your suggested route. Thank you again for your recommendation! 👍
@@kittens103 Yes. There are a number of rewarding add-on loops if you've the energy. Eg; the "Bloody Foreland" between Gortahork (Magheroarty beach) and Derrybeg / Bunbeg before the right turn at Crolly for The Rosses. The circuit will then be over 100kms though. Look out for the hand painted signs on the right - leaving Dunlewey - for my friend "Ian Gordon('s) Studio" should you have a spare hundred euros for an abstract landscape painting!. The short cut (v.hilly) back road from Dunlewey (turn right at McGeadys Bar) to Gortahork, circumnavigating Mt. Errigal via Meenacreevagh, passing the Cashelnagor station - location for "The Railway Station Man" (Donald Sutherland, Julie Christie) now a B&B - is a bit special too. Keep up the great film work! I'll shut-up now 😬
Wow that’s a very detailed explanation of the route. Looks like it’s very hard to cover in one day. But I will definitely try northern part of Donegal since I’ve never done it before in my 6 years of road cycling in Ireland. Perhaps I will keep in my notes for next year‘s summer cycling. Thank you 😀
Really enjoyed your video- did you find the drivers in Switzerland to be respectful of cyclists in general? Thx
Hi, yes. The drivers in Switzerland are exceptional, especially adhering to speed limits. All the European countries I’ve been to like Ireland, UK, Spain etc, no one strictly kept the speed limit. If the limit is 50km, people go at 60-65km. If the limit is 80km, people go at 90-95km. But Swiss was the first country where people exactly kept that limit and this includes supercars like Ferrari, Lambourgini… I had a quick chat about this when I was returning my hired car and they said perhaps it’s because of the hefty fine if you don’t respect the traffic rules.
@ very good intel - I’ll be sure to watch your other videos - very relaxing material :) I have a month long stay in Bern this May and will be bringing my Tarmac- I can’t wait!
@@joshschrader4732 I envy you. Switzerland cycling trip is amazing! Just make sure to check the road closures on Alps Mountain Passes. I reckon some great-view passes might be still closed until late May.
I haven't been down there yet but after watching your video I'm going tomorrow cheers
Make sure to bring warm gears with you. Tomorrow’s going to be cold 🥶
Really cool shots flying down the cliff face! I’d be too afraid to try & film that. I hiked there a few months ago & tried to get some drone footage but the wind almost took my drone out to sea! You got a surprisingly perfect day for it, well done 🫡
Yes, it was one of the most calm day with very little wind blowing. Also now I’ve sold my Mini 4 and changed to Air3S, because of the wind gust on Irish cliffs. Much better resistance against gusts. You’ll get lucky next time 👍
Love your cycling videos. Do you carry a lock with you when you go on your cycling tours? What do you do with your bike when you stop for a meal?
Hi, for road cycling I only cycle places that are rural enough to leave my bike out. e.g. countryside pubs & cafes. For town & city cycling I always bring my brompton and carry it with me into the building.
@@kittens103 do you always lock the bike when you leave it outside? I’d be worried someone would try steal it
@@jefflawrie1073 I’d lock it up if it was in city centres. But still… I almost never stop my roadbike at city. The places I stop on my roadbikes are always rural villages & natural landscape where it’s almost 0% of your bike being stolen. Additionally, the golden rule here is even though you park your bike outside, you should always keep it in your line of sight. e.g. glass windows. If you want to do a fully fledged city tours then road bike would be a wrong choice. A folding bike or public transportation will be a much better option.
Fan video thanks for sharing Kim....
Thank you "Kittens". This is very helpful. I'll consider entry to Ireland via Dublin as alternative to Rosslare and Belfast. With your help, I celebrated my 70th last month... << old photo, I know! ...by cycling several Greenways - Waterford, Tralee, Listowel, and Westport before visiting friends in Donegal. Big success!
Thank you for your kind words. It always amazes me how some seniors are so active and energetic, and even keeping better health than 20s or 30s people 😅 The Greenways and country side roads in Ireland are perfect for the scenic road cycling, but you know, when the weather permits. Cheers and happy 70th birthday!
Cool video, new sub 😊
I think your videos are great ! You should get a lot more views :). As an Irishman I enjoy your opinion on the Irish coastal routes..
Thank you. I’m just a humble biker & traveller admiring the beauty of Irish Countryside. 🥳

Beautiful video thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you for watching. The Burren is an amazing place to cycle ☺️
do we have tools to convert the xml file to xliff?
Yes. I’m doing it now with Autohotkey but it can easily done by Python too. Even better is, you can now tell ChatGPT to convert from one format to another with a detailed instruction like which row, which column to keep and ignore.
Great Video Kim, I just rode the Grosse Scheidegg from Meiringen yesterday. The big passes in Switzerland do not open till late Mai to first half of June, because of the snow, so you need to plan the trips accordingly. But there are a ton of smaller ones (e.g. the Brünig) which are open all year. For the Lake of Brienz you could have stayed on the road to the Giessbach falls and just continue to Iseltwald and Interlaken. There is a bike way (with some gravel roads) on the south side, it is closed for car traffic from Brienz to Iseltwald, so this might be why your navigation computer didn’t show it. It is super beautiful. The south side road with the tunnels you mention is the motorway which is of course forbidden for bicycles.
Thank you very much for your detailed comment. Yes, I learned the hard lesson about Alps hill pass closures during early Spring. But, I will definitely visit the same place again maybe next year. I’m thinking of doing a camping at Innertkirtchen because in that small village, there was a nice lovely bike shop too. Might try the small path you mentioned but I’m not a big fan of going to gravel road on the road bike. If I rent a gravel one, I might try. I absolutely loved my cycle in Switzerland. It is the one most beautiful country I’ve ever been ☺️
That place is amazing 😍
Because private cars are forbidden on this road (only Buses / Taxis) it’s a real privilege to cycle 😎
What a great video! New subscriber here 👍😊
Thank you for subscribing my humble channel 👋
Mamore Gap is a test both ways. You got another cracking day, I nearly had forgotten how beautiful it is up that part of the World.
Surely the place is not as popular as Dingle or Ring of Kerry among tourists, whenever I visit Inishowen I get this lovely magical feeling 😀
Nice video. You got a nice day for it. 😊
Thank you! 😃
Amazing video. Does anybody know the name of the pass in the opening shot? I have done most of the passes on the ring of kerry but rhis one does not look familiar.
it’s Ballaghbeama Gap maps.app.goo.gl/Ehsas6GnCxVuk6hZ7?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy
You got a nice day for your ride. Great panoramic shots.
Thank you. The drone did all the job 😅 Inishowen truly is a lovely place

Thank you.
We prefer the grit surface and the waterway’s scenery itself, compared to the old railway greenways. You must tinkle your bell coming up behind people! After Enfield it’s a national treasure.
Indeed. It was just me bringing my roadbike to the early & busier part of the greenway. I enjoyed the place much better by walking or riding my small folding bike.
@@kittens103 Thanks, Hojung, I see your point about the road bike, and also understand the problems around Maynooth. Anyway there is great progress now developing the Royal Greenway out from Castleknock through Leixlip, it will be a great amenity when finished, likewise the Grand Canal, I remember very well when both these routes could have been lost forever. We need these safe designated off-road cycleways, URGENTLY. Keep pedalling!
Fantastic, if you kept going down the road past the ferry you can go on the passage west to blackrock walkway all the way down past the blackrock castle down the marina into cork city. Lovely safe cycle past the Atlantic pond down Monahan road, much safer too with cycle lanes on that side.
I actually loved the cork Marina Greenway and The Black Bridge(?) passageway. Especially the Marina Greenway was one of the most beautiful place I've been in Ireland. For this trip, my main destination was Cobh and I wanted to have a big nice circular route. But for next time I'll surely try the Blackrock Castle Observatory path that you suggested. Thank you for the tip!
Nice video. You got a lovely day for your cycle.
Yes the weather really helped!
Awesome, I’m gonna try this route soon! 🎉
You won't regret it! But make sure to pick a day with good weather. It's a stark difference.
Cool video bro 👍🏻
Super Video 👍
Thank you very much!
Hi Hojung Kim! That’s really an awesome ride and I’m planning to do a similar ride like yours and also the furka pass climbs, by the end of this month. Can u pls help me how to get info whether the road access is allowed to ride to Furka pass from innertkirchen? Thanks
It will be open absolutely. alpen-paesse.ch/en/ You can check here to. I was at Grimsel Pass in late May and unfortunately for me, the Furkass Pass opened on 2nd of June. It will be breathtaking there. Enjoy!

My home🎉
Such a lovely cozy small town! I bet this year's summer will be fantastic in Killorglin 👍
Done Coomanaspic. It's torture. What camera you use at 4:40. very unusual view. Drone footage at start looks like Ballaghbeama Pass, another steep climb
It's insta 360 camera all the way. You're right. It was Ballaghbeama Pass.
Great commentary. But needs some guidance, ie. Plural of sheep is still sheep! No s on the end. But no worries it's great!

Nice video. How did you get to the Gap of Dunloe from Ladies view so fast? Via Moll's Gap or short cut via Lord Brandon's cottage? Although the latter is more MTB.
Hi, it was through Molls Gap → Gearsallagh → Hollywood and Head of the Gap of Dunloe. I only travel the road bike route. Maybe the video editing makes it feel shorter.
@@kittens103 Very good, just surprised you didn't show Moll's Gap
Hi from 🇮🇪,really liked this video, the Irish countryside is so picturesque Quick question what do you think of irish roads in terms of how bumpy, rough and narrow some of them can be from your experience of riding
Except for the very limited portion, Irish roads are very well paved. The thing worried me most is not the surface but the overgrown hedges that blocks your view in the corner.
Hi brilliant video,im the owner of the Cornerhouse and remember you coming in😊hope you enjoyed the roads here in Cushendun and County Antrim,I myself am a keen cyclist 🚴♂️call again ☘️‼️
@@dougarmstrong4294 Your place was amazing and the coffee I had was indeed lovely! Thank you. :D
Wow, you did all that in one day 👏. I bought a mountain bike recently, I'd love to go on day trips like that but is it possible on a mountain bike ? Also worried about things like , if my chain breaks . Im 44 years old , would I be safer with other people ? Are there cycling groups I could join to travel together for a day ? I enjoyed your video , well done . P.s I'm from cork .
Hi, First of all if you're not going on a high performance road bike, I strongly recommend to cut the distance short. Perhaps exclude the Carrigaline and Robert's Cove part and just do Cork → Cork Harbour Greenway → Ferry → Cobh and back to Cork. In that case it will be around 50-60km. The distance I covered in this video was around 140km. Cycling with other people will be much safer especially when you're not accustomed to the long distance cycling. There are also many charity cycling happening from Spring to Summer, so you can search for those too. (Googling or on Facebook pages) Regards.
Great video
I've also done the Copper Coast and back by the Greenway regularly. It's a cool cycle, especially early morning along the Copper Coast. Nice job!
