After doing research why my darn electric blanket controller overheats when I plug it in to my inverter, this video has made me understand exactly wtf is going on and what a pure sine wave is. Thanks!
Where did you get the transformer? I have been trying to find a suitable 220v one but I can't
It was an oil burner ignition transformer, designed to run basically short circuited continuously. I'd say look at oil burner/boiler suppliers or online to find one. Neon sign transformers might work too.
@@anthraciteenergetics5497 thanks, I was looking at some options and they where ranging between 15kv and 18kv and 40mA. What amperage is your transformer? Thanks.
I wish you had taken the station and the iron apart so we could see their guts; Weller's "Red line" series is kind of cheesy. I made an impulse buy of the $65 analog Weller from HD a year or so ago, and it's *JUNK*: an ordinary 120VAC iron and a triac-type electronic light dimmer for "temperature control" ---- you can turn the 40 W iron down but you can't turn it up, and there's no temperature sensing feedback circuit. Harbor Freight sells a $45 Schneider soldering station with true temperature sensing and heat regulation: I did a tear down and review of it on my channel and it's a really good buy, a rebranded Atten 937 (a clone of the old Hakko 936), nicely made and certainly way better than what I had to work with as a kid some 50+ years ago. I also bought the Harbor Freight digital soldering station recently ($120); It's a rebranded Atten ST80, nicely built, with standby and sleepmodes, temperature presets, and a long and flexible cord. I'll post a review and tear down of that one shortly. Both units use standard 900m or T18 tips and Hakko-type heaters, and come with a good quality separate stand for the iron.
Awesome 😊
overheated ptfe breaks down to 15 identifiable substances. One is called perfleuroisobutene (it has several names). This gas has the formula C4F8. When in contact with water it forms CO2 and HF among other substances. This is hydrofluoric acid. It eats flesh. The teflon website at one time said you could get teflon flu from overheated ptfe. You can easily buy a 250 ml spray can of ptfe.
Incandescent blacklights run very hot not only from the absorption of virtually all light from the filament, but the filament is overdriven to an extent to produce more light in the UV spectrum , that's why blacklight effect sharply diminishes as it's dimmed to less than full power. I have a 400 watt mercury vapor blacklight that will operate fine on a 400w metal halide ballast, probe start or pulse start. The ignitor on a pulse start ballast should be disconnected, otherwise an arc can be struck between the wire leads in the glass stem near the base, destroying the lamp. Learned this the hard way. The mercury vapor lamp makes for a very efficient blacklight because much of the light produced is in the blue, UV A and UV B, with some UV C as well. If you've ever seen a clear mercury vapor lamp in use you'll get the point.
Dam get to the point asshile
Thanks for this. It is surprisingly hard to find videos which show burn tests on plastics. I wish I had a comprehensive overview of all the commonly used plastics, but all I can find is flowcharts that merely describe the flame. At least you show some of the most common ones here. I've seen some nifty compact devices which can ID basically any plastic in 2 seconds via spectroscopy. That would be such a useful tool - but sadly it costs a small fortune because it is pretty niche equipment.

Awesome video! Do you know of a product or way to 'clean' the waveform out of a squarewave inverter? Like maybe a male plug+small adapter like box then female plug? Ive seen it done with potentiometer, but wondered if they made a plug and play type device.
This is very similar to the methodology used for identifying the type and purity of the crack cocaine and other substances used by Hunter P. Biden. 🤡 (the “P” stands for Pederast) As a Firefighter / Paramedic for 28+ years, I can tell you with some confidence…. Structure fires of today are so much worse than earlier times. The “modern” plastics and other materials originating from petrochemical industries burn with so much more intensity and with much darker / black and noxious smoke. Finally, after decades of knowledge that products of combustion and particulate matter accumulate heavily in our “bunker gear”. The very PPE intended to protect us from fire has caused an inordinate amount of cancers when loaded up with carcinogenic substances. We are now introducing “clean cab” and “clean house” regulations that keep the gear separate from the crew compartment of our apparatus and away from living and sleeping quarters. (& pricey in-house laundering machinery)
The days of the head of the EPA stating “it’s safe to breathe this air - no PPE or respiratory protection is required” (WTC “Ground Zero” - 9/11/2001 17:30 - Idiot Christine Todd “Wit-Less” Whitman)…. Are slowly disappearing. Of course, in addition to the 343 Brother Firefighters killed that dreadful day, MANY MORE have suffered through cancers and all sorts of autoimmune diseases after spending months digging through asbestos and mercury (+ everything burning and smoldering under the rubble for days/weeks). NOW, after decades of availability, instrumentation is carried and utilized by our HazMat crews. We can now expediently identify many hazardous materials in minutes. Never trust the Warmongers in Government! (Demoncraps or RINOs) The medical surveillance and care promised to the First Responders in exchange for the endless work carried out in an extremely hazardous environment..?? Minimal at best. And… despite this knowledge, if asked, 99.9% of the brave men and women (& canines) would readily perform the same rescue and recovery duties to save MOS and civilians in jeopardy. Very useful video - Thanks!
Thank u RUclips university
How did they do it before TV let alone social media. Electricity is fairly new in the world of home energy, fire has been around forever it seems, so people are comfortable with fire. Even animals run from fire lol
Very interesting
can we melt teflon in a testtube?
Also, not considering a small minority, homesteaders aren't an obnoxious breed. Even when they are liberals, they are not usually the unsuffurable woke type. I'm libertarian, I see no problem with people being conservative, liberal, straight or lgbt+, religious or atheists or whatever, as long they don't force it on others, everyone is free to live as one sees fit. Almost all craziness come from corporations and governments using divide and rule tactics, the majority of thouse types coming from big cities, nonetheless. Big cities tend to destroy our minds and souls, they're the home of some of the worst kinds!
What I find amusing, the back to the land homesteaders tend to be conservatives, and you can see a divide between rural and urban conservatives on that one. The guys against renewables are usually urbanites being useful idiots to corporations, talking their views on more theoretical ways. Homesteaders are usually an individualistic, down to earth practical bunch. They're usually level headed people. You can't say that about the herd minded religious fanatics or the paranoid urbanites, for one!
Very cool (or very hot, should I say 😂). I saw a guy putting heat elements to his wind turbine to bleed excessive load, I said to him: why don't you heat water instead of wasting it? On the mechanical heater, I would say a VAWT is simpler at that. Take a double step savonius and drive it's shaft down directly to a tank with 4 or more rotating arms with paddle grills inside the water. It's simpler and down to earth 😅. No gears and no propellers, just direct drive grill paddles on a ground level tank.
A VAWT would be much easier to implement, since the business end is near the ground. With the efficiency of power generation and the ease of moving electricity around, I'm always partial to the electric solution, but the mechanical options are always out there for anyone wanting to use them!
Thank you. That was incredibly helpful and interesting.
Did you kick your pet out of the way around minute 09:50? 🤔
Yeah the damn cat was trying to jump up on the chair I had the camera stood upon!
Ya, we strain at natts and swallow camels. Today we have less acid rain. Industrial science and production as been improved. However, on the other side, say health industry, we are jabbing folks at a for nominal level to get rid of other pollutants we make,. Such as Covid 19, and the virus damages done to polluting humans with deadly engineered pollutants! So while a few les death from acid rain, we have tons more death do to genetic engineering pollutants. Though they will never kill that camel! Too much profit for health companies, corrupt government that funs it all, and corrupt politicians that invest in it! Bring back acid rain and get rid of genetic engineering, and I'd agree were are making progress!
You could always glue a brick on its bottom for the wiggle : ) that's what I did : )
Did you check the thermal fuse? It looks like it’s built into the circuit and should have protected the more sensitive components. That square wave step voltage could have resulted in a higher current draw, leading to the thermal fuse blowing.
It didn't burn up entirely (I think the one resistor got hot and I smelled it in a test condition and turned it off quick), so the thermal fuse is presumably good. It's a good thing to check though!
The Eurasian Super Power Grid can be realized if countries don't hate each other. because the IPS/UPS grit built by Soviet Union in the past already has connections to the RG continental Europe (UCTE), RG Baltic, RG Nordic and Iran National Grid.
That ship has sailed. The Baltic countries will actually physically dismantle their power lines to Russia and Belarus after they synchronize their grid with the European grid in early 2025. And since Poland already has no interconnections with Belarus and Ukraine’s interconnections with Russia and Belarus are no longer being maintained, it will be physically impossible to link up the European grid with what will be left of the old Soviet grid (IPS/UPS). And that is without even considering the political situation and the sanctions.
Thank you so much for this.
Oh my gosh... you explained this so well. Thank you!!!
Better living through chemistry. And good governance.
Another big time topic was the ozone hole, from using or better to say distributing CFCs into the air. Would love if you could cover this next. Great job Sir!
Great video Corey!!
Just look at the mountains of Sulphur they left on the ground at the oil sands if you can get google to allow a picture. Some conspiracies are real but just not what you think. The fossil fuel industry owns government.
That's a lot of sulfur! But that could have been left in the fuel and burned and emitted into the "giant toilet" (the atmosphere). Since we're so dependent on fossil fuel, the fossil fuel industry simply provides the product people are asking for. Ultimately getting away from burning fuel and reducing demand for the product is what's needed. Thankfully we're doing it, at a rate faster than any time in the past.
They got rid of bad emissions. Now earth is green again.
aways a resistor happened to me aswell

Really good info here. Thanks very much for taking the time to share your knowledge
Don't need an eight minute video to show it's impossible to receive digital TV signals on analog TV. This video would be far more useful if it compared the digital TV to the analog TV with converter box.
Woot. You should see my 20-30 minute videos. Want to talk about boring 😁
I think it more of what the signal is look like
Interesting as hell, for some reason lol
I remember having such a small old TV in red in the Basement. I really would try to use it but can't find it.
We don't have analog TV Signals here in Brazil anymore, unfortunately. Now you need either a decoder or a raspberry pi to use those old boob tubes!
This is nice, thanks for sharing. I have an old tv like that one around and would like to try a setup like this as well.
I wonder if you'd get different results in color tv
Probably not, since the color and B&W NTSC systems are compatible.
Here before this blows up
How does bro have analog television [the signal], here in the netherlands it got disabled 17 years ago Edit: im dumb as fuck sorry guys
You can still buy old ones in the USA. They don't make them anymore, but the ones that were made still exist. They just don't show anything anymore like the video explains.
@@SirenaWF1 I mean the signal, I didnt say "an"
@@RedTroPcWanted to know this too, analog TV signal ended in Brazil on 2017
Because it's just an older tv? Btw i live in the netherlands too, but even my 2009 and 2010 tv's still have analog. My main tv is a samsung tv from 2009 and it has analog.
@@RedTroPc Because analog signal was replaced with digital signal, they still transmit digital over the air, but you need a TV or antenna setup that can decode it. Radio frequencies don't care about "analog vs digital" it's just encoded data. Cell Phones, Wifi, TV, Radio Stations, it's all just radio frequencies with different encoding standards and frequency bands
