Best damn way to beat the heat! Been doing it since the 70s!
I’ve been going there since the 70s, it is absolutely beautiful. Did you know that it used to have a dam that diverted water down a flume? That flume ran to a power plant downstream. Years ago they removed all of it and returned it to the gorgeous spot it is now. The best hike in is from upstream, walk along a dry riverbed until the springs start flowing! If you like Fossil Creek, try one canyon north of there, West Clear Creek. Harder hike, but just as beautiful.

That’s the exact reason why we do it! Tubing the Salt is one of the best ways to beat the oppressive Arizona heat. It’s a lot easier now than years ago when you had to shuttle your own tubes around, park a spare vehicle at your exit point. Was still worth the hassle!
