BUYING A CHEAP PONTOON BOAT - $1400 DIY Restoration build! Ep.1
How did you measure and ordered the correct fence. I have a 20’ pontoon and the fence from rear to front measures 19’ 5”. My only option from pontoon stuff will be the 18’?
Lekker bru! Thanks for a kiff show
You sir are an inspiration!
How much did you spend on the furniture/fencing?
looks great!! nice Job! I have a 2011 SouthBay that has some hail dents in the fence paneling on the one side.. that I'm debating either changing the skin on that panel, or wondering if I should jus go this route and do all new fencing? Everything else is already updated and new.. seats, floor, and big ass new motor! the fencing is the last thing showing its true age and life well lived! haha
Dump video dude. Start over.
what is the average cost of a full redesign?
about $10k - give or take...
how much was your total build price
It turned out really nice great job.
Nice good ol' Yamaha
Wen those plastic seat basses are really new they still have release agent on the plastic so clean it with alcohol and the lights May stick better.
Great job! I enjoyed your series. Yea they are like driving a brick sometimes. I've had mine in the water 6 times, seems like every time is a learning opportunity. I forget my ladder all the time, it happens.
I see a lot of life left in that boat, but it is amazing how people let them go. A guy near me wants $20K for a 2014 Bennington that he let get sun scorched, has dented fencing, and who knows what else. It would cost 5 or 6K in re-doing the seats.
Your ladder is down sir
Very nice 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Good job on the boat. Looks beautiful.
where did you get your helm?
Absolutely brilliant. "And Bob's your uncle". 😂 Now that you completed the project, would you have rather bought a used one in good shape and made payments on it instead? My nephew and I are looking for a beater to fix up for shallow water fishing and duck hunting. After watching your video, it's a lot more involved rehabbing than we both thought. Great job.
Thanks for the kind words! It would definitely do the work and save the money if you can. Boats are expensive :)
Your ladder is down😂Sweet boat
Where did you get your fencing from
Pontoonstuff.com
I watched your entire series and I am so impressed with your work. As someone who has fully restored 3 pontoons, none of mine hold a candle to yours. Gorgeous boat, I am sure your kids will make amazing memories on that boat that will last a lifetime. Well done!!
Wow! I appreciate that! My kids and wife love the boat, it's a great way to make memories!
Where did you get the fence?
Pontoonstuff.com
what is the length and width ?
Boat is 22 x 8.5ft excluding outboard
What size speakers did you go with? I just ordered seats from pontoon stuff and curious how big you can go
6" speakers
How are you going to lay carpet on your whole floor when you don’t even have everything off the deck
I'm looking at a older 20' left out to rot the seats and carpet. This boat and most others use aluminum sheet for the rails which is dinged up and needing to replace it. The material is 5K gutter coil stock. Find your local gutter installer and choose a color & simply pop rivet it on.
Thanks!
Looks great! Shouldn’t the flooring be installed first?
just a mock up for layout purposes...
@@pontoonboatrestoration6432 Was going to say that. You stated that at the beginning of the video. Looks good. Going to be a looker of a pontoon.
where di dyou get your rails at
Pontoonstuff.com

Is that a Deck mate Bimini top?
How do you like the U shape pontoons?
They work perfectly!
Nice work. Where did you buy your console. I need one.
Came with the boat! Thanks
You did a GREAT job man. Impressive!!!!
Cringe when i see the ladder down. 🙃, Great job!
Yea, rookie mistake. Haha.
we all do it from time to time! haha.. rookie or not! my wife has a knack of putting it down to go Pee after I had already buttoned it up to get going! and she doesn't tell me haha@@pontoonboatrestoration6432
I love the ‘Ford’ blue!
Great Job! Looks fantastic 👏
Thanks so much! Glad to be done!
Looks awesome!!! Do you have any of the old furniture you removed? We also have a G3 and need those 2 corner live wells. Your old ones are better than ours. Also could your your old table if you still have those?
Thanks, unfortunately the furniture was in very rough shape and I ended up throwing it away!
Do you have any old parts that you removed? We also have a G3
Did you have any problems removing the previous boards? Were any bolts stuck and if so, what did you do to get them out? Running into this problem and we've tried everything. Nothing is working.
I used an angle grinder and cut through the bolt heads at a 45-degree angle. Then pushed the bolt through the bottom of the board and beam. Was pretty quick.
Looks great. How much did everything cost you. Minus the boat, the wood, and the welding?
I'd have to do a more concise calculation, but probably 4-5k? Maybe less.
The fencing came from pontoon stuff? I dont see it on their website
Yup - you just have to call them - ask for Travis.
Like most boats you really pay for the motor. $1400 for a Yamaha four stroke 90... Is a complete score. Nice buy!
Yup, thats right! It was a great deal!
Man you got it looking great!
Thanks so much, new video is about to drop with the final results. check it out soon.
Looks great.. I have a couple boats but I'm looking for a pontoon for me and the wife & kids to take out on Sharon Harris and maybe the river.. u gave me alot of ideas.. thanks
Good luck! Enjoy the process!
do you have that spreadsheet available
That welder should really be wearing a shirt when welding.
