Polaris Sportsman Fuel Pressure Regulator Housing issues/alternative

Recently purchased a 06 Polaris Sportsman that wasn't running. Rebuilt the fuel sending unit, but still had low PSI. The fuel pressure regulator housing was bad, which you cannot buy for this unit. Here's a work around. Access battery on your 2007-2011 Yamaha Grizzly 700. I bought a battery for 55 dollars on eBay and replaced it within 10 minutes. Note: the battery positive ( ) terminal needs to be on the right side of the battery (looking at the front of battery) since the stock Yamaha Grizzly 700 positive wire is extremely short. Polaris Sportsman Broken Speedo/Upgrade to GPS
Просмотров 8 тыс.3 года назад
Common issue with older gen Polaris Sportsman/Explorer. If your speedometer stops working, it's most likely fried an internal component. I couldn't fix my stock speedo, so I upgraded to a GPS Speedometer with an adjustable odometer so that I can keep track of my mileage. It was cost effective as well ($75 on Amazon as opposed to $300 ) and I think it looks good. Also, forgive me for my amateur ...
Thanks man, I'm about to charge mine and figured it was there but wanted to make sure first
Anyone find a permanent fix or the solution for this?
Forgot to mention cleaning the oil screen.
I have a 2004 rancher 400 with the same problem, I’m going to try that fuse trick, so rectifier could be the issue?? Also the quad won’t rev past 4000 rpm approx. sound like a rev limiter and backfires sometimes, burn a little bit of oil, I’m debating whether it could be a plug fouling out bc of the oil issue? Hope I can get some help
@@sebastiandosamantes9237 spark plugs would be a good place to start, might also be worth doing a valve adjustment
@@ATV_Garage_Guy already adjusted valves and changed plugs, even did a top end and still going, could the stator or rectifier be bad? Already replaced the computer and still does the same
@@sebastiandosamantes9237mine does the same thing changed the rectifier and it does it not as bad about to do a carb and filter and oil change just did the stator as well
@@gavinsniper8190 changed the pulse generator on the stator, that fixed it
Always show the full removal and installation of the pump
I haven’t started my 01 Rubicon for a few months & today the display screen dosen’t work. What sensor do I need to replace?
@@smileysun9212 I've heard that it could be the rectifier from another video. I'm not sure though myself, I've never figured out a full time fix for this unfortunately.
@@ATV_Garage_Guy Thank you for the response. I really don’t need the display & I never go over the speed limit. The clock is nice when I’m plowing & I like checking how many miles when I go riding. I noticed the ESP is not changing gears & I mostly can hear it. I did some more research & the rectifier was one of the solutions but one person said he had a corroded wire at the rectifier. I can get a rectifier on Amazon for $20 but before I order it I’ll check the fuse, battery & plug at the rectifier. Hopefully it’s an easy fix.
Put new rectifier in & that didn’t fix it.
I have a 2005 Honda 400, and I did the same thing, and the display doesn't come on. any other thing that I can try?
@@isaakhiebert6340 how long did you unplug the fuse for? I had to leave it out for over 5 seconds on one model before putting back in for it to work. Does your neutral and reverse indicators work on the dash at all? If not, the meter may be completely dead.
Great video thanks. Short and to the point. Now I know that I don’t need a bike jack to do the job.
Hey roy, the small vent line on next to the cap, was wondering if you could help me with where it gets routed. I inherited a non running one from a friend and this line was off and I cant figure out where it goes to 😅
Does the newer style Polaris sportsman regulator work?
I'm actually not familiar with the newer style, however I did a search for, let's say, a Polaris sportsman 570. The pictures of it look quite different, the pressure regulator sits differently, so I don't think it would work
Most underrated video. Rename this video because it applies to the Rancher/Foretrax and all Foremans of that design. Your video should have 1000s of likes. I'd give it 1000 if I could. Thank you. Now we just need to rootcause the issue.
Thanks for this video! My 14 yo son and I have a project fixing up a 2000 Xplorer 400 we bought for way low. We have awd override done. This is the finishing touch we needed. Prayers for you to get to HI or someplace warm. BTW… Polaris owners…DO NOT run u r vehicle with dead or bad battery. This causes your speedometer to fry!
Mine 1998 is not even digital is with cable, is not working I need to change it, should I also bypass the 4x4 connector!?
I’m having a similar problem but not exactly. When I switch on the ignition key, I have no power to the display. I’ve checked all the fuses in the fuse box and they all check out good. My battery test out at 13.2 V. This unit is a Honda Rubicon 500 TRXFPA with GPS and power steering. It does start with a manual recoil and then I have power to the display. Headlights are on neutral light on and the power steering orange light is flashing where it usually is a solid orange. Thank you, and Annie advice that you may have would be much appreciated.
Look at that seat upgrade! Which model seat is it? Thx for this video. Tomorrow I am going to try to pull my battery as dead & needs to be charged as not old. Gotta try to prove to my adult son that I can still do some things on my own vs always call him. Lol
I bought the motorcycle with the seat, but it's a Mustang brand motorcycle seat. Here's the website: www.mustangseats.com/
The link doesn’t seem to work anymore ,but what motor does this sending unit pair with or is it universal for all size in the same year?
Yes, I believe it should work for your Polaris as long as it's fuel injected and similar body style. Try this link: www.ebay.com/itm/224416175098?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=2cOIIDfQS-C&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=yG7UqgBXR92&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Can you share me the link on Amazon for the speedometer you used?

Hope you enjoy the bike! They are fun
Perfect explanation. Just got one of these today and was wondering how I could get to the battery. Thanks!
thanks for no introductions and subscriptions or likes and other time wasting bs
I’m having the same issue hoping that’s my issue. I don’t get a codes tho
It's a very common issue with the 02-04 Honda Rubicon. Should hopefully work for you.
Hello
Thanks Roy, I also have a POS Rubicon, this will be helpful.
Does your awd still work? Can you post a updated video?
good video bud thank you friend
That's great to know, thanks!
you only need to take off the battery cover and the 2 bottom bolts on the frame for the front rack pull it forward and slide the battery out but the way you did it works also
Roy Can you give me a manufacturer and or part # for the speedo you used for replacement off of Amazon. What did you have to pay for it ?
Yes, the part number on Amazon is B07KPD78JS. Currently it's about $68 with a 5 percent discount.
I just bought the exact same bike. Only has 580 miles on it. Nice video.
They are nice units. I've really enjoyed it
As for the 4x4 bypass you have to jump/splice the 2 brown wires together off the 6 pin connector that use to plug into the old ODOMETER. Great video! Thanks for sharing

I looked on Amazon at the reviews. They said it worked for a while and then stopped. Is yours still working??I
I'm so sorry, I haven't checked comments forever. I sold the ATV 4 months ago, but it was still going strong then!
So far, how has it held up?
Awesome!!! Thanks for sharing and caring! Doc.
This is great! I don't want to spend $500 on a replacement speedo (for a 2nd time - 1st time was only 300... ). Anyway, I'm going to try this, oh and here's a great video on the wire by-pass for the AWD. Looks like i can use both of these fixes to get a speedo working again. ruclips.net/video/qQzXEYIrrC8/видео.html
How do you remove the pod cluster because mine is hard to remove
Sorry, just seeing your comment. I no longer have this ATV, but there were three screws, one in front, and two on the sides up by the headlight (I believe underneath).
When you say you couldn't figure out your backlight, are you meaning the back light of the speedo, or tail light.
The backlight of the speedo.
You should do another video of how you have it wired, please
I'm sorry, just seeing your comment. I no longer have the machine, but I will try to be more thorough next time. Thank you for watching!
I have the same machine, same problem. I see the orange, red, red/wht. wires, but what are the red and orange wires for? And did you splice them from the same speedo connector?
Hows it holding up? Just bought an 02’ with a dead speedo
So far so good, but it's only been a month. The reviews were mostly positive online, so I'm hopeful it will last.
