Untested Soviet Camera & Experimental Film? What Could Possibly Go Wrong?!!
Well done. Thank you. You might fin the Pinhole Assist for iPhone useful.
I had one when it came out and it was wonderful. I used to use cheap alcohol swaps to clean the rubber😊
I very much liked the textures in the image of the Showmaster truck.
@@kevinthephotographer9346 Heya! Probably the only decent shot of the day tbqh! 😄
Just visited your instagram and got my question answered. Was this a limited production by RSS? Really like the 4x10 , does it only take paper negs or is it able to use neg film? Thanks
Very limited (I was told two were made) as paper negatives typically don't sell as well as film ones. Paper only for this one!
Hi, I have a beast , never seen the man bag from RSS before ,what differentiates the two ? Went on their website but only newer versions for the beast on there. Thanks btw love your channel👍
@@michaellong9526 The beast is 6x17 and the manbag is 10x4 and strictly uses paper only. From my understanding there are only two in existence and James from RSS is the only owner of the other. He may make one..always worth asking! ;-) Thanks for watching!
I keep meaning to try colour in my pinhole. What reseprosity failure did you use for Gold 200 please, i cant find any info, so was going to base it on Portra 160 where there is reseprosity info available. Waiting for my new Mia to arrive, then will have a go.
@@grahamhutton3129 I try to not get caught up with the reciprocity thing but for this video I just doubled the exposure of what my light meter gave me. I generally do it for all the films I use in pinhole.
That suitcase camera produced some great images! Like the one in the 'wedding chapel' or even better: the shot of the roots/tree/bridge (loved that one!). Chinon seems to be a cool little optical notebook :-) For that shot of the cows you should have taken 0ne or two steps to the right imo ;-)
@@pixelpeter3883 Thanks! Quite pleased with this months output. Indeed the cow shot is cluttered with cows losing that focus point. Moving over would of looked better...I always notice I could of nailed a better shot after viewing the video but...as they say...it was spur of the moment!
The first image with your manbag and the photo with the Ranica of the restored building are beautiful.
@@wcwendychapman Thanks Wendy! Really happy with those shots (was quite a challenge to get to the house of wessex)
Some cracking shots there, especially from your homemade pinhole and photographic paper.
Thanks! The 8x10 is a big ol thing to carry around but the images are really nice!
That fallen tree photo is awesome, proper folk horror vibes!
if you don't mind me asking, how long did it take for your ranica to arrive? mine's been sitting in minsk for a while now, no movement since the 12th. as i'm in the states, i'm anticipating a reasonably long wait.
No problem...The 35s took just over a month and the 35 arrived around 2 and half weeks to the UK. It does sit at Minsk for quite some time then turned up quickly once it left.
Lots of really great images there, awesome work!
Thank you! And thanks for taking the time to watch! 🙂
Loved the video, great photos content etc etc. very enjoyable 👍
Glad you enjoyed! 😀
The bellami looks like an interesting camera. I'd never noticed them. Just looked it up. First impression, is it a better cheaper alternative to the lomo lc-a.
@@jondr.8933 Same kind of camera. Also reminds me of a Pentax auto 110 in look. I'm pretty impressed with the bellami...might become my no1 film compact. Yet to see what how lens handles colour.
Btw thankyou for your support! Really appreciated! :-)

@@Ranicacameras 16? Hahah now that is mad! Did you carry a suitcase around? 🤣
Hi there. Been watching your Pinhole photography videos. I've been really getting into pinhole this year. Using my Holga 120wpc and now upgraded to Mia pinholes offering. This 6x17 looks really interesting. A question; with the film being curved in front of the pinhole, if the camera is perfectly level can you get correct angles or is everything bending and distorted lines and horizons? It must be film hungry with only 4 shots per roll, but that huge letterbox format does look very interesting. My favourite format so far is the 6x12 2:1
Hiya! When level there is little distortion but if you have it pointing up or down you will get distortion. The spirit level on the top helps greatly. I'm actually selling my 6x17 (as I have the large format now) so let me know if you're interested!
@@irresponsiblepictures7451 Thanks for the reply. Ok, thanks, that gives me an idea of what the 6x17 could do. Obviously film hungry with only 4 shots a roll. I'll give it a thought, thank you.
Just bought a roll of this- but looking at your results I think I might not shoot it at box speed. The film seems to want more light or it gets…. Moody?
It definitely benefits with good or even light hitting the subject. It's great for woodlands however!
Alright. I’m two videos into your channel and you’ve inspired me to shoot pinhole again. Years ago I had a harman titan 4x5 pinhole and an Ondu 35mm and sold them both after years of use. I think I’ll take it back up!
Yay! Sorry for spreading the bug!
Wow. Just stumbled across your channel. First video was great! Very calming. Wonderful background music. Great content. Subscribed!
Thanks! And thank you for watching my vids and subscribing! 🙂
I recently purchased the Ranica 7-3 and it is now my favorite pinhole camera among the several I own. I like it so much I just purchased his new multi-format camera. The shutter design has been improved and is slightly different from yours and is such a pleasure to use. I think the photos it makes have a unique look. I loved the long exposure photo of the tree at the end of your first sequence.
@@wcwendychapman Hiya! Thanks for watching! Indeed Ranica have got a good shutter system with their cameras...Would love the multiformat and nearly got one during the early promo price but couldn't afford it in time...ah well! one day! 😄
I just bought a 521/2 out of Japan that Im waiting on.
Use orthochromatic film.
I just got one myself, haven’t developed the roll yet. After seeing your images I cant wait to see mine :)
@@Dwarvenchef hopefully they came out great! Thanks for watching!

@@Dwarvenchef I plan to just keep it pinhole focussed from here on out. More enjoyable and rewarding than gear and digital vids! Thanks for watching!
That looks like a Mamiya
It is but I longer have it...to darn big! 😅
yo- gorgeous trip. ))
Is the doubled exposure time for reciprocitity a film specific average, or does it work as a general rule?
Some swear by correct reciprocity but some just shoot not taking it into account. I would say its probably recommended to use proper reciprocity if you want to make direct prints from the negative. I scan and edit and so far I have had no issues with the films I have used by just doubling the exposure.
I confirm that it is a light, simple machine but with a very sharp optics. You made me want to take some shots again
Based on your review, I ordered one. It came today. Took about 10 days, which is very reasonable. The use of wood is a great way to minimize problems with the printed section. The shutter is really nice. Put an elastic band round mine, over the shutter. Then I can drop it in my pocket, although I don't think it would open without it. I just like to be cautious. It is the cheapest 35mm I've come across at this quality point. Looking forward to seeing what it can do. Just loaded it with Acros 100 ii. Getting 5 second exposures in full sun.
@@jondr.8933 Awesome! Mine came in about 2 weeks. Hope you get some great shots with it. Always there in the pocket for whatever comes up. I just recently received the 35 panoramic as a companion. Has an even more effective shutter design. Hopefully these little guys will last for years. Great for trips with minimal bulk!
I find it very detailed for a 35mm pinhole. www.flickr.com/photos/jondr/53819846110
Lovely pictures. Particualy like /love the shot looking down the lane at the Thatched Cottage. Really looks period.👍👍
Thank you! I try to take timeless images with old cameras like this...thankfully the modern cars were parked behind the long grass.
lovely video and nice camera
Thanks for watching!
I like contrasty pinhole images!!
Me too! 😁
Great little camera! Nice design contrast between the printed material and the wood. For pinhole photography, I think 35mm is a bit (too) small and 120 is a better starting point when it comes to IQ.
Agree but surprised it wasn't too far off (pinhole is about that groovy softness anyway) I do think it'll be fine for small prints, online sharing snd tge like but not so much for anything large.
You are correct of course. It's just so convenient to drop.in your pocket with a mini tripod. It's the sort of thing you can just have with you, without planning to go out and do photography
Hi Andy, great photos ! Are these straight out of camera or cropped? Thanks, keep up the great fun of capturing pinhole images.
Hey! Thanks!! Images are straight out of camera (bit of contrast fixing in post) with no crop.
так же в восторге от неё

@@Ranicacameras Thank you for making these little gems ;-) It'll be coming on holiday with me thats for sure!
I still have to develop the images i shot last month. The disc meter is spot on with mine 😊
awesome
@@chriscard6544 Thanks again Chris! :-D
Great video! I just got myself a Agfa Clack as well and I'm looking forward to some night and low light long exposures. I was wondering what you use to judge your exposure time? Is there a light meter settings you look for to set for this type of camera? I have a light meter phone app but I'm struggling to understand how to pull how many seconds of exposure time out of the information provided.
@@nicholasdurant6866 Hi! I use an app simply called light meter. The clack is on bulb. Aperture I set to f11 on the app with the respective iso. Shutter on app would display how many seconds to hold open for and as a (rough) rule I would just double the exposure time for reciprocity.
Surprisingly sharp photos considering the lens and Kodak Gold being more of a daylight film. I have some 100 ISO B&W film loaded in my Clack which I'll be trying out at night. Its nice to work with such large 6x9 negatives.
A really nice camera. I have a few agfa isolettes. Same sort of period as your camera. There such a Joy to use. I have a Kodak box camera from about 1915' it cost less the the price of a couple of films. It makes interesting images. I like to use ' fomapan 320 retro, gives a period look. Unfortunately I don't think it's available currently, but I have a good stock of it in the freezer.
I’ve just got a Zero Image pinhole, it has the deluxe extras like filter holder and cable release…. ! One roll so far and it all seems fine … would love to know how you worked out the angle of view horizontal and vertical so you can add your black tape as a guide….. thanks very much….
I originally used the included lanyard and made the judgement from there.
Photos turned out great! I personally like the light leaks, adds a more nostalgic feel! What camera are you using for the pov shots whist your shooting?
Agree it gives it that ye olde look ;-) I use a Dji osmo section 4 strapped to my chest. Thanks for watchinĝ!
Action...not section.
Impressive to see see what 'old stuff' can produce; once you manage to get rid of that light incursion, it'll take great images :-)
Now I know where the issue lies I will be using this old geezer more in the future. Many discard old cameras as junk. It's not junk it history!
beautiful video
Thank you, Chris! And thankyou for still watching my little videos!
Very nice, and good results despite the light leaks.
Thanks! Being so old I'm happy to even get one good shot from the camera but came back with a couple.
Great shot, great camera, great painting
I really like the photos taken with your 410 camera. What is the focal length of this camera?
Not sure but probably somewhere between 90 to 100mm going by the depth of the camera
I've just done the same. Unlike you and apparently everyone in the comments. I was sat racking my brain, trying to figure out where the 2 posts came from. I"I don't remember there being any posts in that field "
Haha yeah seems a very easy mistake to make. James has a new updated version that seems to make things more fool proof and easier to load.
Audio setup for these ?
