stolen land Playground of genocide
It had to happen. It seemed a terrible waste at the time nut Dai Woodham's scrap yard turned out to be the salvation of many a fine loco now performing starring roles in the tourist magnet phenomenon of preserved railways all over the country.
It is alwaya a pleasure to watch this chap but a shame that the volume is poor, presimably because it was filmed live.
That’s me right at the very beginning in yellow!
A long time ago now!
This track needs to be restored and preserved. No point having more houses if there is nothing to do in the area. Maintaining sporting facilities has long term benefits not just to the local community, but also the council, who will benefit off healthier people and fewer people driving across town to access the few other tracks Bristol has.
Brings back memories, I ran in this race in the early 1970s. I remember we used a shoe shop on Taff Street as a changing room 😊
I assume it was still Bernard Baldwin doing the organising . Did you do the Nos Galan sprints?
He was the best ventriloquist ever. I remember seeing him for the first time I was 6 years old. I wouldn't believe my dad when he told me it was the man talking, not the dummy,
Typical of these shows, yappity yap yap from Pickering and Vine and nothing actually happens until 7:39, then they cut bits out.
“The new Eilat was Christened. “ Priceless quote mr Vine.
One of David Vines more salubrious outings!
Rob Harrison was so under-rated. Unfortunately he had to compete with Coe, Cram, Ovett, Cook and Elliott amongst others so he never really got his chance.
Nice guy as well. Was a good team captain at Birchfield when I was there.
Awe those squeeks of the children laughing, that brought a genuine smile to my face.
Andy Ripley, an absolute gentleman. Some great interviews from David Vine. Thanks for posting, thoroughly enjoyed it
I was at that show, stood not far from where this was filmed.
Always a great show
When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a Lysander as the wing shape is very similar.
When I first saw the Stinson it was from from a distance over the sea with no commentary and with that wing shape it made me think at first that a Lysander was coming. in. I was very surprised to learn that the Royal Navy received 573 of these during WW2. I think the Navy Wings example gives a very spirited display - just a little spoilt hear by the Gazelle Squadron starting up next to me and drowning out the engine noise!
I'm sure I recall watching Superstars as a kid and Jody Scheckter covered up his shoes with a towel as he'd put oil on them for the squats. Anyone else remember this?
This is exactly the time I'd have been one of those cubs. It was fun and it's nice seeing those times on this vid mate and all my schoolmates were cubs too but when I did my first Church Parade I knew it wasn't for me.
This is an American made aircraft...not brishits...they dont know how..
I wonder if that pilot has the arm thrown across the opposite seat after turning down the radio while backing up? Then asking the co-pilot "Am I good on that side?!"
I love how Charles's hair colour turned white like Ray's over the years.
Fantastic but ruined because some parent can't remove their mewling brat from the area
That's the trouble being in a live audience!
It is astounding how real and alive Lord Charles becomes during a performance. I quite believe that he would drink a bottle of Bolly a day, however, just imagine how good a ventrisakist Lord Charles would be if he wasn't always stoned like the good book orders him to be.
The snarling growl of the Merlin is just an epic sound.......
Nostalgia in a can. Thank you
Nitpick here: it's a Rolls Royce Goblin engine, not De Havilland.
Waste of fuel Instead same funds should b spent on hopeless homeless veterens americanz O m i
Happy days..
Not sure why this popped up on my feed, but cool plane! Reminds me of when I saw a B-17 a couple of years ago in Arlington WA.
Nice video and good to see this aircraft.
I was born, and still live in Exmouth for 71 years so far. All the seafront attractions have been removed except the swing boats. Supposed to have been an improvement to remove the boats, trains, play park, zoo ,model yacht pond and now there is nothing but rubbish left. Even the swimming pool sold off and closed.
Left engine seems to be working much harder than the right one when afterburning.
I agree, looks like the right engine is in min afterburner and the left is max lol.
i'm watching the video and it is the first thing i'm noticing. Right burner isn't working at full power.
Yes I only noticed that when watching the video
stunning aircraft - so unique
what club is that playing by the causeway?
What does green duck mean.
I assume you are referring to Keith Harris and Orville the duck - another popular act.
Ukraine "57 blue" at 24:52 Thank you for the upload!!!
We've been a couple of times. Four Merlins great, six brilliant. we'll be going again.
Wasn’t aware there was a flying Mosquito in the UK, what a wonderful sight
Just doing taxi runs at moment but there are plans to scratch build a flying aircraft (see the peoples Mosquito project). Still it was nice to see one moving again as I haven't seen one moving since the week before the Barton Mosquito crash in 1996.
I can still remember the Viggens made a fuel stop at my home base Leeuwarden 💪🏼
Rude woman on her phone near the end.
Back when RIAT was a brilliant airshow.... Used to get at least 550 planes there. Now you're lucky to get 300.... I think it was 1993, a Sky Warrior was on static display at Fairford.... And who could forget the SR71 Blackbird?
I feel so sorry for aviation enthusiasts today.
@@stevethomas8375 So do I Steve, there doesn't seem to be the variety of aircraft that you used to get. And the price per ticket is way out of my price range, you practically need a second mortgage.
@@nigelbevan8449 Totally agree. First went to a show at Greenham Common in the 70's as a kid then went to the local Staverton show in the 80's. From late 80's to about 2005 went to loads of great shows all around the country and some in France/Belgium. That was the golden period of warbird restoration with the Hannah's and Stephen Grey restoring and flying so many great aircraft. Also there were so many military shows both British and American with some great aircraft just finishing service or just coming into service. Especially miss shows such as Mildenhall, Woodford and Middle Wallop (who can forget over 110 helicopters rising up over the hill behind the airfield). As for price I remember when you paid for a car to get into Shuttleworth so we'd cram as many people in as we could. I just wish the camera equipment was available then that we have now. I've had a large gap visiting shows due to various reasons and have only just started to return to them but I can't justify the cost of many shows so I've got to pick carefully. As you say the aviation scene is very limited today due to military cut backs and aircraft insurance etc but you've just got to enjoy what you can see and be thankful that you've seen stuff that modern enthusiasts can only dream about!
@@stevethomas8375 Yes indeed. I remember going to the airshows at Boscombe Down, Binbrook, Woodford, Mildenhall (scoffing burgers) and Waddington, to name but a few. as well as attending a few in Europe and the a couple in the States (Edwards and Point Mugu). I last went to RIAT when The Thunderbirds display team was at Fairford and something came over me and I just decided to pack my stuff up, get in my car and go home. As the year's have gone on I have no regrets of the airshows I've attended in the past, but I don't think I would attend one now. You can only photograph an F35 or a Typhoon so many times. Like you stated, I feel somewhat sorry for the aviation enthusiast these days due to the defence cuts.
Thank you for this. Marvellous. What a young looking Roger Black!
I was part of the field hospital there that year
Great shows back then.
Alguien mas le doo miedo
This man's a genius 😂❤
As Ray Alan has got older lord Charles has got older 😂👍
My aunt once interviewed Ray Allen for a 6 part documentary programne on CITV called Thd Ultimate Machine in 1987.
Would be interesting to see.
Most of Duxford aircraft at that airshow.
Imagine him today on B.G.T... he'd blow them all away.... . 😅😅😅
that guy had some serious talent. and the big guy behind him wasn't bad either.
That looked to be Ovett winning the 800m.
Yes it was
Also Cram in 1500 and most of UK top athletes at this meet. It was televised but I can't find the recording.
