greetings from a Guyanese, I must say you are brave to go in to Venezuela, as you are on the border town you can get food but as you go in to Venezuela you will find it hard to get food unless you pay a lot,plus the country is dangerous.

Man, I am sorry to see you could not make it to the roraima and gran sabana deeps. I am pretty sure you will try again. Unfortunately, there is a prohibition for currency 3xchanges companies to operate since the government as a partial control of the foreign currency exchange. Now everybody uses dollars there, that is the reality. You just needed contacts and people who is not afraid to help. There is a big change there from what it was prior to 2014. But definitely getting all the resources is an amazing trip. Paraytepuy looks isolated I always thought how we don't explore tourism in the area, at least ecologic way. Because commercial way it will destroy the experience.

The clear divide between poverty, wealth and natural beauty in Venezuela is a painful problem that needs to be resolved so that the country can develop and move towards a better future.

Gran Sabana is a large plateau located in southeastern Venezuela. This is a place of stunning scenery, with majestic mountains, majestic waterfalls and vast steppes.

That view from what I saw of it, looked very special? There must be other reasons why they chose to build it as high up as they did? It certainly looks like a village that is thriving? Cheers

That Guyana road is really only viable with a 4x4, lorry or fly there, that's tough going on a push bike, guess it more the journey than the destination, there is not much in Lethem, a one horse town with a runway and few shops and businesses, on the other side from Lethem is Brazil that is paved roads and will be more enjoyable with mountain views and savanna. Boa Vista is quite a big town in Brazil and more like a US Midwest town and its a few 100 Km from Lethem, few speak English there, as is the case in most of Brazil. Good luck with the rest of the trip.
