Thanks, that saved a lot of time
Thanks for this review, I've been looking at getting an EM1. Although bachmann is usually a brand I stay away from, their Spectrum line is pretty solid. Found out one of my most powerful longtime running mogul is a Spectrum.
Your welcome!!
Nice to see her out running.
That it is, always a treat
Beautiful model bud, just subbed!
Nice!!
That locomotive is definitely Big Chungas!
Yeah it is! Need to get it back out and run for a bit. Been a minute
I remember back in the 70s, seeing this for sale in "Model Railroader" and seeing designs of the Virginian 100 ton "Bath-Tub" gondolas used for Coal Freight...a train of 40-50 BTGs behind a chuffing 2-10-10-2 would be quite a sight!
That it would be!
Missing: cha-chong, cha-chong, cha-chong, … Otherwise: never saw such a loco. I'll be looking it up.
Why paint it?. Looks great.
Cool. Like to see it run.
Theres a few other videos of it running
What is the brand? Airfix?
Academy
Hello! Did You use aftermarket decals?
Hello! Imoressive build! How about decals quality?
I bought them but I forget who made them
Real Nice!!!
Thanks!!
Looks fine I just wonder why in real life they didn't give it a bigger Tender ? Seems to me like in real life it must have made a lot of stops
If it had a longer tender it wouldn’t fit on existing turntables.
Never got to see it run? WTH?
Lol
Great model! Just be aware if this model was built by Daiyoung from Korea. They made the drivers main gear of machined PCB material instead nylon or derlin. It is fragile and they loose teeth faster if you use the wrong oil. Basically, the ones that are not compatible with plastic. I usually use Labelle grease.
I do as well, appreciate the info! I have the lite and medium oil and the grease from them. Going through all my engines and making notes on what needs help and what is good
Terriffic shot of that giant pulling!
Thanks!!
I get what you are trying to do, there are easier ways to achieve the end results... All the tag ends should be on the same line, much tidier finish... I've built my own power wrapping machine and thread carriage and am now trying to figure out how to make a carriage for those big cones of thread also... Keep at it and you will only get better as you go... Cheers Karl K... New Zealand based...
Sounds good, will do. Thanks!!
That is Nice. Bob
Thanks!!
Just need to get a dozen of coal cars for it
Usually I run the club hoppers with it but yeah, getting some virginian cars would be nice
What kind if loco is this? It looks electric or diesel
Steam turbine the N&W experimented with, called the Jawn Henry. It was a last ditch effort to keep steam around but ultimately failed and was scrapped
Ooh steam turbines facinate me
Where did you get this loco? Its design confuses me
Bought it from a friend of mine. The virginian actually had one
A beauty indeed. I couldn't help but notice the long line of jets on the taxiway!
Get rid of the flexy tube drive shaft crap Get a NORTHWEST DRIVE SHAFT KIT
Sounds like a plan! I'm more than likely going to regear it
Excellent. 💙 T.E.N.
that wall is hugee!
I tried it and you've gotta go about halfway up otherwise you slide haha
where can u buy this model?
I got mine from hobbylinc.com. Amazon has it and ebay as well
@@NW2300 thanks so much I will be buying this
Why does the loco sound like shit?
Needs a good lube and tune up
@@NW2300 I reckon 😂 Still, it looks pretty awesome
@@illbehim lol thanks
a littlebit of oil PLEASE
I haven't ran it in a minute, this one and pretty much my entire fleet of engines need lubed and greased haha. Thanks for watching!
You have a lot more going on (details and such) then the Old Airfix kit
Absolutely! It takes time but it's worth it in the end
Excellent Video! Thanks for showing it off
Anytime! Hope to have some more soon
The train layout is awesome and love the locomotive but my ears were bleeding 🩸
Lol thanks! She needs a tune up which will hopefully happen soon
Yep ,when the curved trestle is too tight for the 2-10- 10 -2
Lol she needs a tune up is all, just havent had time. Goes around 36" curves with ease
Sounds like it’s farting because it’s long but nice train
69 likes rn XD
Hahaha!! Awesome
Definitely appreciate all the views on this video as well
You live around the Salisbury NC area? I’m in NC also. Maybe we can get up sometime and hang out, run some trains
About an hour, thatd be nice!
Mojo 10'6 is mh only in casting
Ah ok. Honestly I love using this one. I dont fish often but then I do, this one goes with me
That was my dad i guess was it from munich?
That it was! Glad to see the nonstop is back honestly
@@tobsi7298 oh yeah haha! I follow it when I know its inbound. Hopefully one day it'll be something a little bigger lol
Was it the flight from 31 juli ?
@@tobsi7298 earlier I believe, I dont normally post the same day lol
Sounds like my wife's Sunbeam mixer! Looks nice though.
Lol oh yeah! Thanks haha, I need to get all of my engines cleaned up honestly
That's the best running steam loco that I've got.
Same here! I dont run it much but love it
Locomotive looks great, but sound effects are terrible 😣
Lol I know, needs cleaned a little
Do you have any more articulated locomotives?
Quite a few, I need to sit down and see what I have left to post. I have another challenger on the workbench that needs work as well as my UP challenger. Just been tied up with college and work and havent had alot of time to run trains lately
@@NW2300 cool
NEVER GiVE UP
Looks great!! I too am soon going to be starting a 1/72 b-29a (Academy), as a plane my grandfather flew in the war. He is passed and the model will go to my mother though. I chose their "Old Battler" version for the bombs, the extra turrets, and the side blisters. I will also be making decals that coincide with my grandfathers plane. I have almost every angle of his plane and even recreated (on computer), his nose art and squadron art. There are many, MANY other additions including its unique display, but I will save that for my own vids (incase any of my plans do not work no one will know lol). I really liked your series on this, and will likely use some of your video ideas. I want to make vids for family members to watch, but after listening to yours I saw a few other advantages too... It is a great visual for you/me to look back on when doing others, and I REALLY liked the tips you gave on building certain things. Again, your model looks superb, and I also really enjoyed the video's themselves. Thx
That's awesome!! Thanks for watching the series as well. I wanted to give some details on the model as well. I've seen some forms have them but didnt have some of the details I needed and wanted to share those as well. Wish you the best with the model, would love to see it when its completed
how much did this cost?
It was a good bit, the price varies honestly but it isnt cheap since its brass
@@NW2300 yeah and id assume sellers would go for the highest legal price. so maybe around 700$+ since its so large
@@Graulas keep going on the price, there weren't that many produced. Some models do need tweaked a little but they're some strong runners for sure
@@NW2300 yeah and great pullers too, i can imagine seeing them for over a thousand
There was one that sold for $2,100 on BrassTrains
The Virginian: Our "smallest" yard engine is an 0-8-0.
I know right? hahaha
Is it true that those have plastic side rods?
They're metal.
@@NW2300 ok thanks, I was just wondering if that was true
@@paulmishler402 this one is metal, I dont know of any steam engine with plastic side rods. Maybe the eccentric or one that doesnt transmit power
One was supposed to be saved from what I read, but was accidentally sent to the scrap yard.
I have a copy of the museum flyer with the EM1 number listed and cant remember it off hand. I wish one was saved along with the big six and mountain engines as well.
