Everything he cooks is always absolutely delicious, and I wish we lived closer so that I could film more of his amazing cooking. In this video he delivers three amazing recipes (and many saucy jokes!): 1. Muss...

Why do you call it Politiko? I make mine with raisins, almonds, walnuts and pine nuts. Like it nutty.

The name of it is derived from Arabic language though. Halva means sweet delight and is pronounced as Halwa but since most other languages don’t spell “W” in their spoken words and spell it as “V” it’s become popular as Halva. Been to that region and seen/tried this sweet dish which is also a traditional dish in most countries in that area.

it looks delicious, however, in Turkey we put some freshly roasted pine nuts in to the helva. it's called irmik helvasi in Turkish. 😊👍

There’s a healthier version if you’d like to have a go at making it. First you dry toast semolina stirring constantly like the lovely mum did then transfer to a bowl to cool a bit.. then pour half a cup of water in the pot along with half cup (more if you wish) honey, mix and bring to a boil.. add your favorite aromatics (I usually add saffron and cardomom to my flour-based halva 👌🏻).. back to semolina.. add eabout a cup to it and mix well and pour onto honey mixture in the pot, add more water if needed while stirring to mix well.. lower down heat and allow to cook.. last you add just a teaspoon of your favorite fat, mix well and voila!! 🤗 You may garnish with cinnamon or/or desired nuts! I tried semolina but honestly loved the taste of flour in making this dish. The aroma that shifts from toasting flour is quite appetizing. Cheers! 👋🏻
