The Power of Alternative Data in Investing
There's a lot of alternative data out there and I think it deserves more attention than it gets. The traditional analysis focuses on the three financial statements, and although that is useful, it's rarely enough to be a great investor. This video is all about alternative data, with the goal of understanding the customer better, the company, the management, and its culture, as well as whether there's a market or business trend. Alternative data is heavily used by the large companies, and although some of it is expensive, there's a lot that is free and easily accessible.

Share based compensation explained
Просмотров 3174 месяца назад
Share-based compensation ("SBC") is a bit of a mystery for most retail investors. Ignoring it has a significant impact on the value of any public company. The goal of this video is to provide examples of SBC, and explain its impact. Share-based compensation has bad reputation for diluting the shareholders, and I think that is a bit unfair. There are two sides, and unless we see the entire pictu...

I think it's also important to think about what product/service the company makes and if the clientele are satisfied. Also, if this company offers something unique to the market. And also assessing the value of brand value. I think there are many business "intangibles" that are important to investing that are not discussed in this video. I still am mostly in agreement with the majority of the video!
All of those are definitely important, thank you for sharing your feedback. I do think that comes earlier in the journey, probably level 3 or 4.
I'm one of those high-value product sellers, and I also can't wait to leave Etsy.
I hope it all turns out well for you.
Martin shreki had an interesting take on this stock. You can have negative growth rate in perpetuity but still have an undervalued stock with the DCF model if you’re looking for short term opportunities.
Yes, I've seen his take. The key question is how quick the negative growth will eat the margins.
Interesting analysis Kostadin. Always refreshing when you post something like this.
Thank you for the kind words, I am glad you enjoyed the video.
i am using macbook then how should i fix the cells while using formula??
I think you can find a quick answer if you google this, or watch a shortcut tutorial about Macs.
Hey! Thanks for this course! Really appreciate your efforts, but unfortunatly the template doesn't work
@@Felll126 Can you elaborate what doesn’t work? You can make a copy of it and make all the changes yourself.
very biased approach.
I welcome disagreement.
they still have 3.8 million subscribers (reported) that's pretty good reoccurring revenue; even if it dropped to 900k subscribers that's still good money to buy into a company for. only way you could lose is if they go bankrupt which is just unlikely because at the end of the day they'll always have their share of the rental market; in my opinion; if they only had their rental service as the only thing they were offering i would thing the company would be at lest $10 a share which could still be undervalued.
I am not sure I follow the numbers / rationale. What do you mean by the rental services part?
I am love the cake from this shop and lately i am thinking inverting this company. Thank you for analysis
Great video! Your analogy of how much you spent this month (income statement) vs how much money you have right now (balance sheet) is such a simple yet effective explanation for anyone who doesn't know the financial statements!
I am glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for the kind words.
What you missed is that the score was tested after Piotroski paper on more data and on international markets including those that have low book value. The results from all the studies were similar to Piotroski's paper in 2000. And btw it should not be surprising because the score filter unprofitable and highly leveraged businesses.
There are both studies that lead to similar results, and studies that lead to different results. Filtering out unprofitable and highly leveraged businesses in theory should reduce both the risk and the reward.
Do you have a list of the studies that were not similar to the original paper?
So right now the operating margin is about -10%. This is caused because of the new company aquisition,? the new gta6 development launch,? should I sell my stocks because is way too risk considering that they now have to amortize with their equity these expensive investments?
To be honest, if you have questions of this kind, you might want to consider investing in an index. The goal of my videos is to educate, not to provide financial advice.
@ well thx for the feedback, i will take care of my knowledge before making a decision!!!
Do you think now will be the best time to purchase?
I have no idea when is the best time to purchase share in any company. I have no expeirence nor intentions to time the market.
@@kostadin_ristovski I meant now that the price is around $31, based on your calculations is it undervalued with enough margin of safety?
Do you have a link to the original video?
No, I could not find the original video. I know there are some extract on Twitter (X) if you search for Keith Rabois and cnbc.
great video! I'd love more update videos on CELH.
Did you buy the stock?
@@leonardoghini1782 Nope, not yet.
@@kostadin_ristovski At what price would you feel there is a sufficient margin of safety?
@@leonardoghini1782 I don't focus on the price solely. In the past, there have been a lot of discounts on Celsius products. That isn't great and it could be due to the high supply of its products into the market. I'd like to see some normalization of that before I open a position.
@@kostadin_ristovskiunderstood, thank you for the answer

shiller pe can stay high for next decade .possible.
Nice video, thank you
Thanks for the video! Could you make an analysis of Volkswagen? It seems to be trading at a very low PE right now
Hi there, you should be careful when focusing solely on the P/E for a company of this kind for the following two reasons: 1. Debt position - We had a low interest rate time behind us. If there's a significant debt position that needs to be refinanced, it will be at a higher rate, pushing the earnings down significantly. 2. Companies of this kind have significant fixed costs (such as factories/machinery). If there is decrease in demand, the fixed cost per car would significantly increase, and the margins would go down. I cannot promise you that I'll have the time to look into it in detail, but I might make a video on topics of this kind.
@@kostadin_ristovski Okay I know P/E isn't everything, I was just making a very lazy comment on why I am interested in a video about volkswagen. The longer explanation is that they have a 45B market cap while they have a 45B stake in Porche and 14B in tration while they also own many brands such as Audi Skoda, Lamborghini, Ducati, Bentley
@@mcawesome4150 I will add it to my list :)
@@kostadin_ristovski Thank you 🙏 keep up the good work
I’ve read their last earnings call and I can tell that the management knows what their doing - they’re addressing their problems well. Also, guidance for 2026 suggests reacceleration of revenue. I think they’re gonna do well, but I’m not gonna buy their stock. It’s hard to predict the trends in apparel. You have to be a fan to really know what’s going on.
@@user-ys8dc2ni8z Fair enough, thank you for sharing!
Time for an update, i'd argue!
@@dorusschauwaers5 To be honest, I don’t have much more to add.
@@kostadin_ristovski Well the analysis was pretty complete and still holds true. In that sense you're right. But i'd argue there have been enough developments (the past few months) to re-evaluate the assumptions and the intrinsic value. They are opening up several avenues of business that might generate meaningful profits in the next few years. disclaimer: I'm stating this as a shareholder so i'm probably too naïve (and positive) regarding the new developments.
This did not age well :) But obviously impossible to know what was going to happen.
I am not sure if it didn't age well. Based on my assessment, it was undervalued back then (~2 years ago), and the Metaverse was valued at negative $100b. The only change that happened fundamentally since was the introduction of LLMs, which could not have been predicted.
Excellent video!!

Hi I am new to your channel, love the content and the effort you are putting into this! I have recently stumbled upon a company with some great financials and what I consider a pretty wide moat. It is a Japanese company called Tobila Systems. It is in the business of fraud detection and prevention systems for mobile and phone. Would like to hear your thoughts on this!
As you said brands tend to be associated with some status so lack of investment in status association shouldn't work in the long run and if it does would be a significant change in consumers' behavior. However, the idea of investing in more discrete or local status symbols could actually make sense nowadays that people go after their own niche stars like influencers and similar. I'm unsure though whether ambassadors can have the same impact...
Based on the data that is available, it seems as if this model with brand ambassadors is creating more value. Whether that will work in the long run, we shall see.
You perform great and concise analysis. Nice work
Thank you!
This company has been so poorly ran - you’re right (I’m an investor) I believe they got caught up in the free money era (got greedy and lost track of focus
