I know how this feels, I once had to explain to people what a chocolate flake was and how to eat it with ice cream. Apparently Hershey is so dominant in the US that Cadbury rarely makes an appearance and only on Easter. My friend who moved from England when they were young cried when I gave them their souvenir of a chocolate flake because they hadn’t had one in so long.

The beginning sentiment is just like what the “coming of age” genre is all about. So many movies are about this phenomenon with young people. Once a kid has been adequately raised to age, they grow increasingly restless to “get out”. They want a try at it. They want in on this. Elder/parental guidance will hold them back from development that can only come from independent exploration. (Playtime with many mistakes). They must go off on their own to lead a blind-footed adventure of self-discovery and exposure. (Because the only way we humans REALLY learn is by having things happen to us). Like a bird jumping out of the nest, or kids stealing a car to embark on a road trip “to anywhere”; A necessary spiritual and maturity developmental journey, like I’ve heard is the purpose for a teen leaving home with the end result being finding one’s spirit animal. (<- For the people to whom a ritual like that is indigenous).

OH MY GOD I had no idea it was about the moon and an eclipse until the end. That got me good. Such a beautiful story in the “all the days spent alone make the reunion so much better”.

This reminds me a lot of Steven Universe ❤❤❤❤

While I personally can't stand cucumbers, it would be nice if that sandwich had toasted bread and some sort of condiment, such as cream cheese with herbs and/or spices.

I wish there were more communities of innovators. Right now, it seems the monopoly on community lies with people who insist everything stays the same and everyone fits into existing patterns. Whereas innovators forge their own path and seem to think that means having to abandon community. But why not build new communities that warmly welcome change and innovation, where new ideas and new people lead to improvements for everyone?

The main woman in yellow, I just adore her character design! I know it’s mostly Asian inspired but it also gives me strong retro-futurism vibes (from like the 60’s) as well which pairs really nicely with the solar and lunar theme🌞🌛

I love the use of color in this. How it changes for the different planets, and how it only uses 3 colors for every character. It adds up to just have this nice feeling throughout the whole short, really comfy feeling, amazing work!!
