The Joe Rogans and Lex Fridmans have exposed themselves as networked propagandists and frauds. (The network is broad on all libertarian right talking points). It’s stale, boring, counter productive, misinformed and fanatical. Indeed the reach of these personalities is a phenomenon in and of itself, but without objective oversight on content (opinion, critical scrutiny) these channels are nothing more than Trash TV (distraction) entertainment. ….as my good friend used to say about the Jerry Springer show. “I gotta get me a days dose of Trash TV”. Some of us don’t feel the need to fill any part of our day, our minds with Trash TV, Gossip Celebrities, the National Enquirers. Watching such garbage, including the Dr. Phil’s and Operas in the 80’s, was so troubling a trend to me; consuming so many…I raised it with my own family too many times. This was an interesting interview especially as someone on the center right who prays for more moderation in politics. JJ really is the best.

Actually now that I think of it, it might be Aba & Preach. They're Canadian based (Preach is Canadian, not sure if Aba has Canadian citizenship now or if he's still only an American citizen), and cover similar topics - a mix of comedy and culture/social issues, relatively apolitical and moderate, but probably a bit right leaning in the Canadian context. I'm not sure if they're willing to interview political figures like Joe Rogan is though. And Aba & Preach probably have a mostly American audience despite being Canadian based. That's the thing about Canadian podcasters, if their topics aren't Canada specific, they'll probably have a mostly American audience. Meanwhile Americans that have podcasts that are not America specific (ex Rogan) will still have a mostly American audience. But also, Joe Rogan probably has a bigger Canadian audience than any Canada specific podcast.

Canada National pride has been beaten out of them by Trudeau. They have no confidence and isn't respected by anyone in the World. Pretty sad.

The problem with this whole "Joe-Rogan of the X" is that it ignores the fact that Joe is not explicitly political. What I mean by not explicitly political is that his main function isn't to talk about current events and politics, his main function is to have an interesting conversation with his guest. Many of his guests intersect very little with current events and politics, at most you will have brief tangents during a multi hour long podcast. Of course he will have people who are of that caliber but often their conversations center less on politics and more on that persons life and common interests / hobbies. Think of it as a male equivalent to the Oprah show rather than Firing Line. Take the Trump interview for instance where the politics of the election was secondary to Trump as a person. Personality over policy / substance. This is an issue for people like JJ who aspire to be "Joe-Rogan of the X" because they are overly analytical and intellectual. This sort of analytical and intellectual mode is what is needed to do anything of value regarding politics but it's an immediate turn off to anyone who is apolitical. And if you can't talk to those who are apolitical then you have failed to be "Joe-Rogan of the X". Joe's brilliance is that he's essentially a trojan horse for apolitical people, mainly young men, to warm up to whatever idea or thing his guest is associated. The huak tuah girl has a better shot of being a "Joe-Rogan of the X" than JJ and he should take that as a compliment.
