My pl-518 does this as well, my platter mat (stock) while in great shape does not appear to be consistent in thickness all the way across. I hate watching it, but to be honest I can't hear any wow or flutter in the high spot.
I generally can't either, but used to have problems when playing at 45rpm. I have the anti-skate turned up now and it's not noticeable at either speed, but I still wish I could get to the bottom of the issue. Oh well, selling the TT soon and upgrading, so it'll be someone else's problem soon enough (yes, I intend to tell them about it).
Mark the platter to see if the movement changes position. It is very hard to find a perfectly flat vinyl record.
Strange. This seems to be happening with every record although it's definitely not the platter. I replaced the slip mat and still seem to be having an issue. Could it be something with the spindle?
Just to be sure it is not the platter, mark the platter where it is wobbling then rotate the record to the opposite end of the mark and the wobble should follow the record.
Good news, that is not your platter wobbling. Bad news, but not so bad, is the record is warped. Very common. Nothing to worry about.
