    I'm a fan of your "old school small cc mx videos". I like to ride this kind of older bikes myself. Currently a 1999 XLR125R (French market) with a big bore stroker 223cc kit that sounds pretty like your XR250. Cheers from France

      Thanks man! I think the older/smaller bikes are so underrated, most people's egos make them think they need a 250/450 motocross bike just to ride tracks but when I would ride my xl125 at tracks I was far from the slowest which was quite rewarding considering I was on the slowest bike. I like the sound of your xlr with a big bore kit! as my 125 used to suffer a bit on the hill climbs. Cheers

      @@Andy6660037 I liked your XLR125 videos on the MX track in 2014. It was very inspiring to watch when I was considering buying mine in 2019. At first I wanted an other bike to lend to friends to ride together when they come at my house. At this time I was riding a 2004 YAMAHA 125 DTR. But soon after I bought the XLR I felt in love with it, I sold the DTR, then inject all the money in the XLR, then bought a second engine to upgrade at 223cc, a second frame to use the first engine, and now building a second XLR... You know the song...

    Hi , these Dr650s are so rare , I only found an RS in my area , but reading on forums I found out that everybody recommends post 1996 DR.... Is this model a bad pick? I can't find any good and reasonable priced DR, DR-Z , KLR in my country

      I currently own an 07 DL650 but I can't go offroad with it .. It doesn't feel natural

    • @Andy6660037
      @Andy6660037 3 года назад

      Hi mate, personally i think the RS is great bike, can't say about the SE as i've never rode or worked on one, but between me and my buddys we have had 5 now. unfortunately two of them got crashed out but the rest we still own and ride regularly. i do like the way the SE has a aluminium swingarm over the RS's steel one but i absolutely love the Fairing on the RS and it comes standard with a massive 21Lt tank, so i think they both have their advantage's and disadvantage's. also i dont think many countrys got the RS model as all the ones we've had were all imports from spain and italy so there's not much information out there about them. Id say people recommend the post 96 dr just because its newer and i dont think many people have rode an RS but their pretty much the same bike. The SE does has the newer 644cc motor but i tried it out in my buddys ccm r30 (which use's the same motor) it was super smooth compared to mine but the RS motor feels more torquey to me and i prefer feeling the engine pulses more. Id definatley recommend an RS, i dont think you would regret it, just make sure if you get one to check the frame hasn't rusted too bad on the front downtube or under the rear subframe and really you want to find one with less than 25000 miles on it as they start to loose their puff around the 35k mark, but their not expensive to do a piston/rebore on. my buddys not long done his and he gets 110mph on the clock out of his now but it doesnt feel that great at them speeds lol. I could talk about the dr forever :D but i hope this helps mate and if you've got any more questions feel free to ask. yeah the DL650 probably isn't the greatest bike for offroad, bet it's nice on the road tho. What country are you in btw?

    • @MRR7
      @MRR7 3 года назад

      @@Andy6660037 Thank you for your comprehensive reply! I'll definetely go check the RS (costs 1500 euros and looks fine in photos) as there are no other similar bikes for sale in my contry , Romania. The DL650 is a nice affordable bike , fun and comfortable on twisty mountain roads, the small disadvantage is that once I get a passenger and some bags it looses power , can't have the same fun. Good for commuting , cheap on gas , took it for some easy trails but being so heavy , it's a challenge on difficult terrain. Thanks!

    Hi Andy, good effort. I have a 95 RS that I am making ready for riding the TET into Spain and some of the trails here where I am in the french pyrenees. The front mudguard.....what it is ? Managed to smash the stock one last weekend on a muddy rock infested track and have a feeling it will happen again the more I explore! I've put a 150 main jet in mine and done the air box mods - 14 T front to go on as the gearing stock off road is utter pants i found - i'm guessing that's what you have done to get the 15%? Cheers, Phil

      @Andy6660037 3 года назад

      Hey phil, thanks! Riding the TET into spain sounds awesome mate, I only ever did some light trails & mx/enduro tracks on mine. I sold it a couple of years ago but I've got another one sat in the shed waiting for a rebuild now because I can't get enough of them :D The front mudguard is actually off a crf150r as its nice and small and the dr's 21in front wheel fits up lovely inside of it. I also ran a 14tooth sprocket on the front, made a massive difference and on the road I'd still get 95mph. I never did the airbox mod on mine but a friend of mine got a mikuni tm40 for his and it runs really nice. Good luck with the TET btw! cheers 👍

      schlawiner Hi, The exhaust is the only mod to the motor. I geared it down by 15% to better suit offroad, and i stripped off everything it didn't need to get the weight down to around 145kg. Wasn't the greatest bike for offroad but it's instant torque made up for it.
