Steve Cullen Fly Fishing & Fly Tying
Добавлен 18 сен 2017
Hi Folks, thank you very much for checking me out and welcome to my page which is dedicated to fly fishing and fly tying.
The channel has a strong focus on competition fly patterns, which are proven and effective, with no gimmicks!
I'll also provide some awesome hints and tips on all manner of fly fishing and, at times, a window into my world of fly fishing.
I'd love to reply to everyone's comments and I do try but if I miss you out, I'm sorry, peace and love!

Fly Tying The Catmorant
We've fished with white cormorants for years, this is just a little play with a few additional green materials.
There is not much to it really, but with all the small white patterns, it works

Fly Tying The Rutland Diawl Bach
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.19 часов назад
Diawls are simple affairs and yet we see sooooo many complex versions, there's no need. The original takes some beating, it really does, but this one, with it's subdued rib and glo brite BLING head, works well. The change to Coq De Leon seems to help in the beard and tail, a little mottling goes a long way! Anyway, it works, enjoy!
The Ultimate Nymph For Summer Grayling
Просмотров 73114 дней назад
I have caught so many grayling on this fly that it's beyond belief. I love it for the dog days of summer, picking my way through knee-deep riffles and fast water. I will fish two at a time, that's how good I feel that it is, the little CDC dubbed in with UV brown really makes it stand out when it's underwater.
Fly Tying The Slow Sink Buzzer

It's amazing how many anglers fail to recognise the benefits of hook choice when it comes to flies. Most buzzers are tied on the usual suspects, but why? Use the hook that's best suited to the job in hand! This slow - sink buzzers is great throughout the summer and into early autumn, fish it on a washing line and it'll stay where you need it to be!
Fly Tying The 'Sipper' Dry Fly

Why can a little orange work so much magic into a fly's DNA? The original fly I say that looked like this was one I was shown by my meat Glen Pointon, designed for sipping trout feeding on midge and green fly falling from the trees. It was great in small sizes, since then I've tied it on bigger hooks and done well with it early and mid season! I tie this one on an 18 but will tie it big up to a...
The Perfect Blob Tequila
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.21 день назад
Now they say tying a Blob is easy, you just last fritz to a hook right? Wrong! Take your time and get the shape and the profile that'll make a difference to the fly and your confidence! It may not be muddler / dabbler hybrid combo but getting it right, like with most things in life, can really make a difference!
Fly Tying The Albino Diawl Bach

I find that this very light coloured diawl works it's magic on corixa-feeding fish and those in open water that are 'mooching'. The colour lends itself to all manner of beasties and that's why I like it. Later in in the season this washed-out fly is a real charm!
Spool A Fly Line in Only 18 Seconds!!!

Have you guys heard of Polymorph, it's going to change how you look at things, it gives us solutions to many problems. The first time I saw it, I thought of this! I have over 40 fly lines, and when I change some, I usually do it in batches, this makes swapping fly lines so easy and quick!
Fly Tying The NQMI (Not Quite Made It)

This thing has been a revelation to me over the last two years. I hybrid that came about after fannying around with Balloon Caddis! It's been tweaked for stillwater and what a tweaking it's been! Trust me, this is a fly that everyone will be using once they've tried it once!

In a ditch, somewhere near you, there could be a fish like this.... Give every bit of water a chance, you may be pleasantly surprised.
Fly Tying Al Owen's Buzzer
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.Месяц назад
This particular buzzer is possibly the most popular on Rutland Water, in fact, most Midlands reservoirs. Al Owen, who practically lives on the water ties an awful lot of these for other anglers, they are so popular that there's a waiting list! Great fly, simple and deadly
Super Simple Rogan's Nymph
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.Месяц назад
This particular fly will cover all manner of aquatic beasties and I guess that's why it's so versatile. In a world of Crunchers, Diawl Bachs, and the like, I can see this covering all the bases, thoughts?
Fly Tying The Missing Link Corixa
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.Месяц назад
I first saw a buzzer called The Missing Link by Russ Dyer in Troutfisherman magazine years ago, I liked it. I fished with Russ a few times, great nympher that boy. I stuck a hackle on it, a while ago now and it worked as a nymph at the back end. Added a touch of orange in the thorax and it worked better.

An old fly that I used to use on Loch Leven and the hill lochs I used to fish back home! This patterns works for sedge and shrimp feeders, and it really looks the part!

Fly Tying The Pink Panther (Mini Lure)
Great tip with the loose turns when you first tie in the elk hair Steve 👍🏼
Hi Steve, Great pattern for my Fly Box. I have tied some ready to try at my local small water. Regards, Wayne 😀👍
Could have used an orange bead at the front for depth
Really nice fly just wondering what hooks you’re using and are they good quality. Also what vice are you using these days ? Many thanks
Love the tying videos Steve, any fishing ones on the way?
Nice fly that. Thanks for sharing 👍
Great looking fly m8. But is there any difference in tying the tail/back in "from the rear of the fly" and then work forward??? As in, tying the mallard like ( for example ) PT, fold it up, do the body and then tie it down.
Yup, a consistent shape
Hi Steve, what make is the silver & pearl flash?
hi pal UPAVON
Being on your own in the middle of a reservoir/sea/my van you have to make your own entertainment. I sometimes think Sh*t, I hope I finished that mobile call to a customer and they've not heard me entertaining myself by singing my favourite songs out loud. Beer, marijuana 😂 hilarious
When you getting out fishing next steve
I was out Saturday and sunday pal not much happening
Another great variation on a winner, thanks Steve
Stevey fucking Cullen the cheat himself
Very very nice, very buggy!
Great fly and instructions, what’s best way to fish it ,I’ve got grey partridge, smallest feather I’ve got looks to big,is there somewhere I could get smaller ones ?
Static in shallowish water
@@stevecullenflyfishingflyty7729 thanks mate 🙌
How u doin steve. Where can a get that olive blob tail.. canny seem to find it.
used to Funky, not seen it in years
Love your ties my friend.
Did you ever see Tim Flaggler’s content? He leaves the thread and chases it up,the body so the material behaves. It’s quite good to avoid that annoying body material being unruly when tying in. I’ll give that a bash next time art the river thanks.
Nice cheeky 😀Shinehead intro
Respect, not many know that!!
Nice simple fly, tied with great skill!
superb
LOVELY FLY
I think if you coated with resin it would look even better and last longer just my opinion Steve.
That is one belter of a pinfry pattern just tying some up now
A great fly alternative when fishhaveseen them all perhaps. Thank you for sharing

Love it. Interesting. I'll try it on Grafham and see what happens?
Hi Steve. Looks good, given age, eyes and shakes going to start on #18 to see how it goes 😊
Another good fly 👍
Pure art red thread sets it off fella
What colour fritz did you use? There are so many suble shades.
Chartreuse and orange pal
How would you fish this Steve? Many thanks for that.
Slowly pal, one foot draws!
Love your flies . But always get the impression your late for an appointment 😂😂😂
When you bleach anything just rinse and then slather it in hair conditioner, leave for a couple of hours, quick rinse, and you'll be surprised how the material is rejuvenated.
Rushing it. Nice colour combo would look nice as a cruncher with CDC hackle
very nice
YOu dont have time for preparing for flyfishing, Look for another hobby
What I don't get is, when I buy a new fly line it never comes straight off the material it's stored on, it's always coiled round and round and I have to mess about with it first.
You can't just simply have the spool of line on the ground and let it come to you from one side of the spool, it has to come from the top or bottom of the spool, just the same as when a fish takes line from your reel. Try unrolling the whole spool first in a straight line and then spool it up on your reel.
@@gregb8824 ye wi get that, but it always seems that the loose end is wrapped through the main part over and over and over thus you have to empty the whole thing and put it on.
Very, very simple is having my wife hold the line as I slowly wind the line onto the reel;)
BUrns her fingers though right!
I think nobody in Germany knows this fly, so I have to make it popular here. Thank you, great fly 👍👍👍
Very nice
brilliant sir
