The primary reason is because the car costs at the cheapest $80,000 but aside its an extremely safe car, any German car is a safe bet five star car

I own a 928GT, and wish I owned an Aston Martin to sit beside it in the garage. Both beautiful cars. Who cares which one is faster? Anyone driving either car, is doing better than 99.9% of the population.

This is ironic. I was involved in the devlopment of the Aston Martin Vantage V8 and the 928 was used as a benchmark to measureup the transaxle system at Gaydon

@stepahead2be the aston is a ironpig and the torqe of the 928 will eat the aston earlyer... i drove one last year the gts 5.4 liter the only problem is the damn automatic gearbox but the old porsche V8 is a way better engine than in the other (british) car ;O)
Navrant.... Le premier freinage me fait tellement mal sa sentait presque le lechage de barrière de sécurité. Couple embrayage/boite vraiment maltraité. Conduite du dimanche sans la sécurité qui va avec... Et au fait un volant sa se tient avec les pouces à l'extérieurs.
@stepahead2be Well then you and 30 other people(that thumbed up your comment) don't "know" the car as much as you think. I used to work for a large dealership several years ago that carried Porsche, Jaguar, & Aston Martin and used to drive many of the cars on a daily basis. As beautiful as the AMV8 and all their cars are, they aren't as quick as everyone perceived them to be. The AMV8 Vantage is a 380hp car weighing in at almost 3,500lbs. InsideLine for example ran a 13.3 @ 106.0 on the 1/4.

@LakeHighiii Fuel injection has little to do with engine breathing... Naturally aspirated means there is no influence on the air pressure, it is breathing at atmospheric pressure.
@Klottelitsch Yes, but does it mess up the catalytic converter? That's a concern here in the U.S.

@stepahead2be Actually, the 0-60 for the aston v8 is anywhere from 4.9-5.1, very similar to the 928 gts. However a v12 aston martin, yeah is obviously faster.

Greatest sports car ever.
I watched a cab make a left turn in front of a Boxster. The Boxster driver swerved to the right, kept his foot planted on the brake and made a bee line for the front of a Honda on his right. Even when he was going about 2 mph, he didn't take his foot off the brake and sideswiped the Honda. All he'd have had to do was take his foot off the brake, veer slightly to the left and he would have been headed up the street with no damage done to anyone. Great car, lousy driver.
I can't wait until someone posts the vid of the 928's Motorweek test. Just a matter of time in the internet age.

928 makes the best old-school sounding but very modern quad-cam 32 valves V8....... better than even the newer V8s from AMG-Mercedes......
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
