      I totally understand, @kimmartin5108! I can tell you that while the market has become more competitive and housing prices are higher, there are still great opportunities out there if you're looking for the right property. Plus, there are ways to find homes that align with your budget, even with the challenges of the market. If you're interested, I’d be happy to chat more about options and how to navigate the market here.

    Awesome video man. I always overlooked Blaine in the past 30 years. But recently looking on google earth, I discover that it feels like West Vancouver for 1/10 of the price and is a 30 minute drive from Vancouver.

    Love this video! I drive to Bellingham from Vancouver to shop and eat once a month. As much as once a week before the pandemic. I really like Bellingham. It gives small town vibes as if the place is frozen in the 80's and 90's. Guide Meridian Road has virtually been untouched for the past 20-30 years, with the exception of those large roundabouts. I do miss the busy Bellis Fair from the 90's. I remember coming to Bellingham to shop and Bellis Fair was absolutely packed with charming shops. Too bad those are all gone now. I feel that the people here are more friendly than in Vancouver. I hope that Bellingham doesn't see too much modernization and development. I do plan to to Blaine in a few years.

    Bellingham just lost over a million dollars buying land for a tiny homes village that was illegal to inhabit. So they bought the nearby credit union out who was about to sue them to fix their screw up. Not only that but they're spending another 200,000 bucks replacing 25 tiny homes that are only 4 years old. About a 3 million dollar tab counting the homes, the land and the litigation combined. They just thorw money at everything with their property tax revenue and there's no accountability whatsoever.

    I am from Vancouver BC and lately I've been thinking about moving to Blaine for retirement. A house that I have had my eyes on for quite some time is 6023 Birch Point Rd. I can sell my house in Vancouver and liquidate my businesses to buy something like that. The small town feel is exactly what I like about Blaine. The fact that it is only 30 minute drive to Vancouver makes me extremely interested in Blaine. I can spend $8 million in Vancouver and not get much land, let alone a water front property. One day I will look into what it takes to move to the states without being a citizen of the US.

    • @movingtobellinghamwashington
      @movingtobellinghamwashington Месяц назад

      @hammertimee777 - Thanks so much for taking the time to watch my video, as well as to comment! Blaine is a wonderful place, and 6023 Birch Point Road is a phenomenal property! They recently took it off the market, but I believe they're still interested in selling. Buying in the US without residency is possible, but provides for a maximum of 180 days per year. Accordingly, many Canadians keep homes on both sides of the boarder and/or use their US home as an investment/income property for a potion of the year. While I'm not incredibly well versed, I believe that the current lead times to complete immigration are in the range of 12-18 months. Please be sure to reach out if I can be of help to you in any way. Cheers!

      @@movingtobellinghamwashington Thanks for the info! I was told that as soon as you leave the states for a couple of days, the 180 days limit restart again. I really think that Blaine is a very good option for people who have retired and have to be close to Vancouver for their family and healthcare, but don't want the lifestyle and cost associated with Vancouver.

    • @movingtobellinghamwashington

      @mrmclovin6945 - As I share in a number of my videos, Bellingham and the surrounding area are a popular destination for people that relocate from placed like Arizona, California, Nevada, Colorado, and Florida, where weather is arguably better with regard to the number of sunny days, but often come with extreme heat, fires, and other unfavorable weather patterns. What we lack for in sun, we make up for in having a mild year round climate. For those living in the area full time, I think it's always a good idea to plan for one sun-filled vacation during the winter months to help you "weather" the gray and the rain. Congratulations on your upcoming retirement! How soon do you get to celebrate that milestone?

      Yeah, Seattle’s traffic can definitely feel like it’s nonstop these days, especially with all the growth the city’s seen. It’s starting to feel a lot like L.A., for sure. Do you have any tips for avoiding the worst of it, or are you just used to navigating the constant congestion?

      @@movingtobellinghamwashington I think the best one can do is live near the light rail and then use one of those electric scooters. I see them on the train all the time, or hopefully have a job that allows work from home. Other than those ideas and a few others, not much can be done with out real road constuction.

    I was in Bellingham this past week and per your recommendation went to “The Black Cat” and had the Gouda Chicken Pesto (great call). Also visited Anthony’s at Squalicam Harbor - thanks for your continuous videos; great content! Keep’em coming! Homes are definitely more affordable compared to Seattle and especially the east side (Bellevue, Kirkland)… but the Bellingham area has also become less affordable now. I don’t know why the PNW has always been so expensive compared to the Midwest and the South. I was also in Vancouver, B.C. and the cost of living was lower comparatively (Walmart, restaurants, everyday essentials - homes have become more expensive but the government has taken steps to stop foreign sales) even after factoring in for the exchange rate. Anyway, I will be revisiting the Seattle area again in March; will swing by Bellingham again. Last observation… I noticed there were are a lot of senior citizens residing in Bellingham (I saw them on the boulevard boardwalk, at the parks, near chuckanut drive lookout points) not a problem for me, just an observation considering there is a university in Bellingham so I was expecting a younger crowd. Anyway, have a wonderful weekend and my best to you - take care ✌🏼👊🏼

      @Og_Ali_Baba - That’s awesome! So glad to hear that you enjoyed it and that you’ve getting to explore and become better acquainted with the area. Sincere thanks for taking the time to share! Where do you live presently? I’m not as well versed on Seattle, but have friends and family down that way who I’d be glad to reference for any recommendations you might need while you’re in that area. As you’re likely aware, there’s lots to see and explore at the pier, Pike Place, and Seattle Center, along with other spots like the Woodland Park Zoo, sporting, concert, and theater venues. I’m confident you’ll have a great visit!

      @@movingtobellinghamwashington Good evening Jeff, thank you for your engagement. I actually use to live in the Bellevue / Kirkland area in the 1990s, as such, I am very familiar with Seattle. To answer your question, I currently live in Charlotte, NC. I had previously commented on one of your videos a few months back since you create excellent content and of higher quality. Plus, your YT shorts are also entertaining because you visit a lot of restaurants and take walks in the park; with your excellent choice of music (old school rap and hip-hop; good to reminisce ). To this end, when I began watching your videos over the summer I was interested in purchasing property in Bellingham but now I plan on renting for at least 1 year, first, before taking any action. Now, I primarily watch your content to gain a better understanding of the Bellingham and surrounding areas because you have a lot of insight to offer. I've learned a lot from you - thank you for sharing your knowledge. I plan on revisiting in March of 2025. Until then, wishing my best to you and your loved ones. Take care ✌🏼
