On the day of Wilfrid's funeral, at Streatham crematorium, it was absolutely lashing with rain and it is said that there was only about six people there. Very sad.
I always vividly remember seeing Wilfrid Brambell being interviewed on the BBC current affairs show Nationwide directly after Harry H Corbett died and he was in bits - absolutely crying his eyes out. It would be interesting to see that clip again. It would certainly put paid to the claims they hated each other.
Wilfred Brambell talk posh it shows what a good actor he was when he had to do the cockney accent of Albert Steptoe it must have been hard to do because he had a Irish accent.
Just like a lot of us in real life, we work and get on with folks at work, but don't live out of each others pockets, it was a great show like so many, maybe it's just me but everything has to be so complicated and intellectual now?
Steptoe and Son was a classic. It was not just about the comedic aspects but about the relationship between the Father and Son. It was looking into a relationship that was perhaps a little 'odd' inasmuch as a Son, still single and in his forties, still living with his Father. For those of us who live in a similar residential environment in a town or city, this is something we may be familiar with as we may know of such a similar relationship living near us. It's just great 'fly on the wall' social comedy. Another one would be 'Open all hours'.
Steptoe and son is THEE greatest British comedy series of all time only fools ruined when women were brought in, sorry ! Galton and Simpson never added characters.
So to the tiresome old rumour they never got on, I think this shows that they did get on just lived different lifestyle's ,the only time they really fell out was during a 1977 tour of Australia, but when they worked back in London for all the series they did together they had a great working relationship.
"Who's that little old man?" "That's me grandfather" "He's very clean isn't he?" "And we're looking after him then?" "I'll look after me self." "That's not your grandfather I've seen him, he lives at your house" "No, he's me grandfather as well" "How do you reckon that out?" "Everyone's entitled to two, he's, me other one."
He's Irish heard some dodgy things about him like he used to hang around the gents toilets in kingscross station in london and once was caught exposing himself to a woman
I think the best program ever made before people were sensitive. The intelligence of both these actors shone through, to come out with the complicated dialog they both did alot of I'm sure impromptu, was fascinating and wonderous especially Harry H. I wish we could of had them frozen In time forever , if ya know what I mean. 👍
Father your a dirty old man Harry H Corbett RIP
Old Wilfred liked a sore bum from time to time😂
This man has gave me so much happiness watching steptoe and son over my life Utter legend and a gentleman
All the times he called men a poof he was gay himself 😂😂😂
Real Gent 👍
They don't seem to have the ability to write decent comedy these day's, S&S was always excellent & very entertaining.
Wow he spoke so well, the diffetence was amzing
And an Mother in-law....😂.

miserable indeed, although i have heard of people who had no one show up at their funeral.
What happened to his Dublin accent?

Great show and great actors.Sadly nothing to compare today.
❤
Wildred Brambell's nose suggests he had a few gins (then a few more) before this interview.

Wilfrid not Wilfred
Wish the full clip and maybe some other tributes clips would surface.
Listening to him speak you’d never guess he was born and raised in Dublin. He was ashamed of being Irish
How romantic!

Brambell abused children.
genius production
I believe what Alan Simpson said about them. Simply because he knew them and you did not.

He was like Jimmy Savile.
He was gay, not a pedo?

Brambell was a paedophile.
they hated each other

They couldn't stand each other
I think he was not on normal courtyard exercise.
Wilfred Bramble at the height of his fame was one of the most famous people in Britain yet only 3 people went to his funeral.
He was a paedophile.
He should have been prosecuted along with Benny Hill, Cliff Richard and Jimmy Savile.
You dirty old man
He's Irish heard some dodgy things about him like he used to hang around the gents toilets in kingscross station in london and once was caught exposing himself to a woman
He's very clean, isn't he?
"He's a king mixer, and he'll cost you a fortune in breach of promise cases"
Savile vibe 😝
I detect a subtle taste of envy, as sincere as it was. May they both rest in peace.
Wish this was a longer interview. I liked both actors. Enjoyed steptoe and son. I still watch
Shame he fiddled with kids
And a mother in law
Paul’s clean grandpa!
Mr brambells was in the club
RIP Harry & Wilffred

And he wasn't an iron hoof!
RIP lads
I'm actually surprised by the accent he has. I'd imagine that he'd have sounded more Irish, him being from Dublin.
Sounds so different from playing Steptoe. Harry H Corbett sounded totally different too.
