Four Days in Dharavandhoo, Maldives
A video of our trip to Dharavandhoo, Baa Atoll, Maldives. We had hoped to visit Hanifaru bay for the seasonal manta congregations in June 2024, however the manta were late this year, so we enjoyed the amazing house reef instead.

Malé to Dharavandhoo: Our Journey

We arrived at Malé international airport at 5.10am on Tuesday and got the airport ferry for 15 MVR each over to Malé. Our speed (Nayaa King 2) was only at 11:30am from Jetty #1, so we killed some time in Malé first. The speedboat took about 3 hours in total, and was pretty bumpy!! Once we were in Dharavandhoo, we made the most of the amazing house reef and saw countless fish at Kiha and Bikini ...
An afternoon in Amboseli National Park, Kenya

Arriving in Kenya from Manchester, UK and embarking on a 3-day Safari in Amboseli with Olengugih Safaris (olengugihsafaris.co.ke/). This is episode one, day one, after a long drive from Nairobi, we arrived in Amboseli for the afternoon. Amboseli is home to the big-tusker elephants!

In Isabela island I rented a bike to visit Mirador del Estero, Los Tunos, Playa Der Amor and La Playita, just West of the main town of Puerto Villamil. On the second day I rented an electric scooter to visit the flamingo lake "Posada De Flamengos", and ventured North into the island to Mirador el Mango.
A day trip to Concha de Perla and Tintoreras, Isla Isabela, Galapagos

Snorkelling with sharks at Tintoresas refuge, a narrow channel which shelters many white tip reef shark. And snorkelling with marine iguanas and seals at Concha de Perla. At Concha de Perla, I just walked down with my own snorkelling gear from Pueto Villamil and jumped in on my own, there were many people there, so you did not need a tour and it was easy to see all the animals.

Snorkelling with sharks and baby sharks at Los Tuneles is breathtaking. So many baby black tip reef sharks, and white tip reef sharks sheltering in the warm waters. We also saw schools of Golden Rays, and countless green turtles.

From Puerto Ayora, it's a 30 minute walk to Tortuga bay, where you can swim and snorkel with baby black tip reef sharks, white tip reef sharks, marine iguanas and seals. The beach is stunning. Yoiu can also rent a kayak for a few hours to explore the mangroves. After this I rented a bicycle and got a taxi pick-up truck to drop me at Cerro Mesa. The village was quite interesting, all stilted houses which were really cool! And I learned how to make a type of flat “bread” made from yucca called casabe. We went out and dug up some fresh yucca and then grated it, squeezed the water out and fried it on a pan to make the bread. It was really tasty actually, especially with some spicy onions we made and some pineapple jam as a sweet variation...

So nice!! How long is the speedboat journey from Male to Dharavandhoo and how much is the ticket?
It was $65 per person for the speed boat, took around 2.5 hours in slightly choppy seas.

I was there today at Carrington in a tiny one person inflatable row boat. The floor had a puncture but it turns out an inflated boat floor is just a luxury rather than a necessity so it wasn't a problem at all. The flow was really slow, the way was totally clear and the scenery was spectacular. I found someone else's sneaky little dock and a mysterious tiny brick building with seemingly no access other than by the river. Future explorations required....
