I think classic and X could benefit from going full metroidvania, not halfway like Zero and ZXA or abysmally like ZX. Straigt-up, no nonsense, every boss weapon has some secondary movement/gate unlocking utility and the map is made by a sane person, not an inti creates employee. I could see Mega Man 12 doing well being set in a city and the surrounding area. You have a central hub around the lab that starts forking into 8 distinct areas with a few teleport rooms hidden within. Nearby areas can connect to others once you have the area or its neighbors' ability. You can also find bolts, support items or other goodies hidden behind gates. Then when you kill all 8 robot masters, you unlock a teleport room in the castle and must wander and find your way to Wily.

F-Zero certainly stands out in this regard. Many racing games I've seen have a dedicated drift button, likely following in Mario Kart's steps. Here, though? You instead have strafe buttons. If you want to do a drift turn in F-Zero, you'll want to strafe in the opposite direction of your turn (turn right, strafe left; turn left, strafe right). Machines with weak grip are best at this. GX seems to be the exception, where drift turns are done by holding down both strafe buttons while turning.

I am right in the middle of watching basically all youtubers' reactions to this trailer that I myself only recently saw for the first time, and I'm here to say I loved watching yours. 🙂 I think that this trailer is comparable to Breath of the Wild's switch presentation trailer, although not nearly as good, but it comes close enough. I hope you have enjoyed the game if you played it already. I've only played a little of it, so the majority of the game is still ahead of me, which is always good, because exploring these games for the first time is always pure bliss. This is one way to turn. It's not usually the best way to turn. In the two low grip machines for example you can turn early while leaning that way and drift. It loses less speed and can turn even sharper, but you need to line it up perfectly, and it doesn't work on longer turns. And on the fire stingray for example you only want to let go of the accelerator for a short moment to go below top speed, then you use your high grip to turn while accelerating.
