    Whats the difference between roman an orthodox church And the rest of the Eastern Orthodox churches ? (Russian,greek,bulgarian,ukrainian,etc)

    • @1000HolyPlaces
      @1000HolyPlaces 7 дней назад

      There's no difference doctrinally. The doctrines of the Orthodox Church are the same regardless of the ethnic designation. But a Russian Orthodox church may do certain things IN Russian, for example, while the Greeks would use Greek, etc.

    I love that we will all have memories of it, and i don’t think they redid it just because. The redesign will look just fine. In general, I think that we get attached to “our” temples. Despite the fact that buildings themselves can fail and will need replaced.

    • @1000HolyPlaces
      @1000HolyPlaces 17 дней назад

      Oh, you're absolutely right, they had to rebuild. And yeah, we do get "attached," though I don't know that that's necessarily a bad thing. Just needs to be taken in stride.

    I only found out recently that most orthodox sermons are primarily sung. There might be a long form video topic for you. Compare and contrast variously religions who’s services are mainly musical. (Greek orthodox vs Hindi for example).

    As an ordinance worker in the Temple most all of those with whom I spoke never really understood the Provo Temple. It's not a cake or cupcake. The fountains in front if studied give away some and the ordinances inside complete it. It's a representation of all the House of the Lord is. The Second floor is the water container, the spire raises and spills out water, doing this 3 times to the feet of Moroni. In short it's The Fountain of Living Water. More profound than a cupcake.

    I agree. I love the unique temple design of the past Provo Temple. And I think it is a waste of tithing funds to make it into a generic redesign that looks like so many other temples already.

    • @1000HolyPlaces
      @1000HolyPlaces 8 месяцев назад

      I wouldn't call it a "waste of funds," especially because the temple itself was literally falling apart at its foundations. It HAS to be torn down and rebuilt. Period. It's just that simple. It would cost more money to try and keep it up. Now yes, I would prefer a more unique design, but the new one is genuinely more classic and less obviously dated than the old one. Objectively, it has a better aesthetic, even if it really deserves to not just be a cookie-cutter temple. Most people who have an attachment to the design have a personal connection to the temple itself. For others, it is something of an eyesore. There's pros and cons to the new design, I'm just eager for more detail and beauty in our temples in general.

    I think it'a beautiful and love its uniqueness. Only needs an extensive interior renovation in my opinion. To much money to tear down snd rebuild.

    • @1000HolyPlaces
      @1000HolyPlaces 9 месяцев назад

      Untrue, actually. It will cost LESS money in this case to tear down and rebuild. The foundation itself is suffering, this temple was not particularly well made, and not designed for real long-term stability. It was made based on a fashion of the time, without regard to actual longevity. It would in fact cost MORE to fix all the problems it has while attempting to maintain its structure. They do know what they're doing.

    I was at the groundbreaking, watched the Temple being built, lived just up the street and have enjoyed many years of attending the Provo Temple. With that said…, I am delighted it is getting a new design and name….now let’s get the Provo City Center renamed to what it should have been called from the beginning.
