Not true! I engaged in an online chat with victim support. I wasn’t using my real name yet the next morning, the police turned up at my door to check if I was alright. How in the world did they know where I lived? I never shared my address or name. Nobody can trust anyone online.
In general cases, as the we state, most people cannot be found by your IP address alone. However, in your circumstance, it sounds like the person with victim support was concerned for your well being and contacted law enforcement. Law enforcement then takes your IP address to your ISP and your ISP provides your exact physical address. I hope this clears up how you were found and that you're ok. -Brian

Google Chrome is probably the best browser for speed. But, when it comes to privacy, it's definitely not the best. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I certainly hope they improve their privacy in the future. -Brian
