Very good review. However, I disagree that the combat is good. Except in 'tactic' mode you can't even target an enemy and your abilities to use in tactic are on timers so targeting is only intermittently available. I found it incredibly clunky compared to previous DA games or other good RPGs. Otherwise, I very much agree. I found I could ignore the lame character models after a few hours, but there are things that can't be ignored. The writing is HORRIBLE. Except for Rook the voice acting is HORRIBLE, in fact I would use stronger words than horrible but I try not to use obscenities. The extremely fakey fake accents make me want to smash characters in the face.

Disagree. Personally i found it "mid" until the first big battle with the wardens. Then the story really ramped up and i couldn't put it down. Is not as much an rpg as a cinematic action game with a few significant choices that affect the game. When i came to terns with that, i sat back and enjoyed the ride. It was 10/10 for me by the end.

If you want to play a sick dark fantasy game, play a game called Soulstice. It`s a hack & slash game that takes inspirations from the anime Claymore and Berserk, you will see the inspirations strait away when you see the main character and the boss designs. If you decide to play Soulstice i`d recommend that you watch Claymore and Berserk first just to get you hyped up to play the game, much better than this crappy game.

This is the only DA I hate. For me the real story ends in Trespasser. Better no closure than this crap

Definitely should try Baldur's Gate 3 if you want a real roleplaying experience that's hit the mainstream. Definitely get it on PC if you can.

Any talk of goty with this is laughable to me. Gameplay at best can be described as a weaker version of final fantasy 16 but then you have worse writing, worse voice acting and nothing close to the insane eikon battles ff16 had. And FF16 didn’t even sniff goty last year. There are indie titles that deserve the accolade more than this does

Right, I didn't buy BO6 just because of the HQ advertise/frustration factory. But then learned you can't play the campaign offline, split screen was removed on MWF2 in the middle of its life service, multiplayer offline was removed, we had more game modes in previous installments, so they're basically giving you less for the same money (artificial inflation). I think the only way this is acceptable is through Game Pass, but even Game Pass is expensive to my eyes, it should cost half its current price. I have a stable job and I like playing, but I demand to be given back value for what I'm paying. Game Pass would only make sense if there were several attractive games to play and not just a few, because then it makes more sense buying them.

I buy cod only for campaign. Multiplayer is secondary to me

Note about the story telling: its wrongly translated to a point the entire point of the game changes. Getting into all of it in a comment isint nearly enough, but its ridiculous how different the story is. I'll try to be short: For one, that beastren spirit guy you find in the sunken city is the seneschal. This isint 'implied teory" but it's straight out said in the og japanese script. The entire story is basically that this seneschal had a will so strong he could sence another presence above him "being 'the watching one'" and he's pride could not take any other being being above him, and feeling like all he's suffering was just for meaningless entertainment. So he decided to rule the entire moral realm under hes rule and refused to continiue the cycle of testing new arisens will (realy long story, you basicly need to have a look at how you are both taunted and goaded in the first game by the dragon in order to test your will) instead this guy would mercilessly slay any new arisen on the spot. Paranoia eventually got to him and he started slaying the mortals in fear of them being "the eyes and ears" of the watching one... There is just way to frigging much more, all lost to translation. The eng story basically gets reduced to "dragon evil, slay dragon lol. Something about a cycle. Oh and strange nonsensical spirit thing looking at you for no reason" This game was mercilessly butchered to hell. Likely from being rushed and tons of budget cuts.
