      Hi! You'll need to disclose general information on your ownership structure, AUM, funds managed, and fee structure, but you won't need to disclose detailed financial history of any sort. The SEC has a good summary of the disclosures on their instructions (www.sec.gov/about/forms/formadv-instructions.pdf) - specifically check out page 19, Item 5.a: Information About Your Advisory Business: Newly-Formed Advisers.

    Brandon, I love the videos and Thank You !!! I got this one wrong as I assumed it was owned for a short time period as indicated by the phrase "immediate". My calculation was based on 30% vs. 25%, ($5400.00). What am I missing?

    • @Achievable
      @Achievable 9 месяцев назад

      Hi, glad you love the videos! When we talk about "long" and "short" in this context, it means whether the investor has bought ("is long") shares or sold ("is short") shares - it's not related to the time period. There is more risk in short selling, so the minimum margin requirement is higher at 30% for short positions than the 25% for long positions. Here's the chapter where we cover this in detail in our S7 course - app.achievable.me/study/finra-series-7/learn/brokerage-accounts-margin-accounts-minimum-maintenance

    So convertible stock you multiply and bonds you divide to get parity? This is going to mess me up on my 7. Granted, I have only started reading the book, but this has been confusing me all day.

    • @Achievable
      @Achievable 9 месяцев назад

      The equations are basically the same regardless of whether you work with preferred stock or bonds! Just be careful to note whether you are finding the parity price of the preferred/bond or the resulting common stock - I believe that's where your confusion comes from. It might help to run through the examples in our chapters for convertible preferred stock (app.achievable.me/study/finra-series-7/learn/preferred-stock-features-convertible) and convertible bonds (app.achievable.me/study/finra-series-7/learn/corporate-debt-products-convertible-bonds).

    • @Achievable
      @Achievable 9 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your feedback - this is a complex topic! Rather than thinking of it as a hypothetical situation, think of it as two specific events: step 1 (current) and step 2 (in the future). Although you need to handle these "what if" situations for the exam, when you rephrase them with concrete numbers it gets a bit simpler~

    The SIE exam is not complicated as these online courses make it out to be. They can never give you the type of questions on the SIE exam because they don’t know. I took it and missed it by 3 points. I was so confused and nervous from all the unnecessary information that the courses give. I think that many of these courses don’t really know how to explain securities in a straight forward way. I am from the school of “ keep it simple”. Keep it very simple as not to confuse your readers.
