no it wont. just like roller skating will not better your ice skating. at the moment, there is simply no substitue for ice..., i mean not even close.

Synthetic ices are different. It's also very hard to measure percentage of the effort which depends on many factors e.g. the quality of ice, skate blades, skater weight, etc. Yes, practicing on synthetic ice significantly improves the skating technique and speed on real ice.

+Quinn Harrison We have been training goalies since 2004 and now have the most goalies making the NHL because of training on Super-Glide. The slide is slightly harder which makes the legs stronger and technique better. Corey Crawford has all the AAA players training at his facility in Canada.

+Jacob Sullivan Yes, we have many players who do make a “real” ice rink during the winter. If you slow freeze the surface this also works, first a light coat seals all seams then start to flood.
