Garrett's Bush Plane
Просмотров 6154 года назад
An adventure with my friend Garrett and his first bush landing in his new airplane. He did a great job and had an epic day. Had fun shooting these videos with my drone and 360 GoPro.
Side slipping the Challenger on approach will shorten your landing roll considerably
I’m really interested in getting one of these
Great flying...awesome camera angles
Fun!
Excellent video! Hope to run into you at 1O3 sometime!
I'd rather be in a challenger than a tin can any day of the year well except for the cold days 🤔
My Challenger has forced air heating for winter flying. Winter is actually one of my most favorite times to fly, better engine/prop performance and lower density altitude, not to mention that everything is green and awesome visibility.
What engine do you use?
It’s a Rotax 503 DCDI
@@markhuntleyaviation3772 she seems a heavy bird for a 503?
@@neilbarriskell7840 she is a heavy. Flies fast and she takeoffs and lands in less distance than any other. All with a 503. Any other engine would be unacceptable.
@@markhuntleyaviation3772 by unacceptable do you mean it’s an MAUW issue for the class of aircraft? I use a 503 DCDI on the shadow so know the engine, but would love a 582 just that extra bit of power but for my model it’s a no go. Either way it looks like a cracking aircraft
@@neilbarriskell7840 the extra weight of the 582 would negate the additional horse power. You would just get a heavier aircraft with nearly the same performance.
Nice!!! Im new to Challengers. I just bought 2, yep, 2! Are you running a 10 gallon tank? I noticed one of your buddies mentioned in his video you may because you had the red 5 gallon in back seat. Anyways, nice edit
I have the standard 10 gallon tank. On longer flights, I carry an extra 5 gallon portable tank in the back seat with transfer pump. I basically refuel in flight by flipping on an aux fuel pump which then transfers fuel into the main tank.
What type of wings is using by you...???? Challenger
Марк Ви где летаете ?
How does your challenger compare STOL wise to that tail dagger in your group
That is a Kitfox next to me. I can takeoff and land is less distance and space that he can. He's faster that I am in the air, but not by much
I would like to have your camera mount
All the panning, tiling and zooming is done post production with software. The camera is a fixed 360 view during filming
What size tires are you running on the mains and nose? Love it, bush flying in the CHII
running 8.50 on the mains and 6.0 on the nose.
@@markhuntleyaviation3772 How about actual tire size? Really would like to know the size on your mains
@@blyz_69 sorry about that, the main tundra tires are 22”
@@markhuntleyaviation3772 no problem no problem, now I just have to find some. It has been tough finding a set up that will work with my hegar brakes
I love your door. Did you custom build that? No matter which I get, I’d like to upgrade my door.
the doors are factory except that I hinged the right side windshield to make access easier. simple mod
I’m looking at by one. There are two of them that I’m looking at now. One has the 503 the other is a 582 blue. I like the 503 because it can supply heat to the cabin. I like the 582 because is has more power but more costly to do a TBO. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
The 503 is an awesome engine and does very well with this kind of flying. with a second person, i would not be flying back country. the 582 can also supply you heat in the cabin, but the extra weight compared to a 503 makes it about the same performance.
Mark, what size engine do you have in this plane?
It’s a Rotax 503
Hey mark what controls your camera. Are you doing it while flying? In need of a new GoPro and in the fence weather to get the 9 or max
I use the go Pro Max, note that the pan zoom and tilting is done in post production when editing
Enjoyed watching this. Camanche Resrvoir?
This looks like so much fun!
Mark what’s the white thing on your nose cone? Adsb?
It’s the GPS antenna for the ADS-B. I have a GTX-345 transponder in my Challenger.
It’s for my GTX-345 transponder with ADS-B in/out.
Another great video Mark. Can't wait to be in the air soon flying my newly finished Challenger 2 as well. Keep posting Brother. Thanks
So awesome. Love your videos
Awesome footage brother!! I really enjoyed that! I got a new 360 Max Im dying to try on my new Kolb Firefly this spring!!! Keep the blue on the top and the green on the bottom!!
Wow Mark! That was a quick upload!
Beautiful plane. What camera are you using and what are you using for editing.
GoPro 360 Max. All camera shots are selected in post processing.
A GoPro 360 and cyber director software
Awesome scenery. Loved the low pass shots over the rivers. Such a cool mix of planes at the airport, too - LSA's, a glider, and a big ol' DC-3!
Nice remote panning wing shots.
Nice one,...
Wonderful, 3 Challenger and a Cessna? Where are you flying?
Thanks for sharing the great video!
I Just restored a chllg 2 . Tallored a custom cockpit totally inclosed . Kinda curious where your flying from. I dont think iam too far from you.

Nice footage for sure! And great Tundra tires on that CH II ! Keep on!
Great footage Mark. Thanks for sharing! Finally picking up my XL65 CH 2, that has been in the works for 4 1/2 years now, next week. Will be making a 3 hour flight from Wisconsin to Iowa. Should be fun! Best
Do have trouble keeping up with the bigger planes? i am putting 6" tundra tires fiberglass gear-legs and a sprung nose-grear would love to do that kind of flying next summer, saving for PuddleJumper floats for 2022 or fall 2021, Love watching you fly i had a fule problem and landed hard In June, you may have seen the Vid, best wishes.
I would love to know what part of the country you're flying in. Beautiful scenery and cool flying scenes. I even liked the music, which is rare! Excellent video!
Which airport is this?
Lodi, CA
Awesome video. 👍
