Shiela Cabucol - Insurance & Investment in Canada
Добавлен 9 июн 2013
Welcome to my channel! I’m Shiela Cabucol, a Licensed Insurance Broker and an Entrepreneur with a diverse background in finance and business. I’m a Registered Nurse by profession, but I discovered my passion for finance and realized that earning a good income isn’t enough if I don’t know how to manage and grow my money. I didn’t want to work until 65-I wanted to learn how to work smarter and invest wisely so I could spend more precious time with my family and things that truly fulfills me.
I’ll be sharing my personal journey, my learnings and even my mistakes since diving into the financial industry. In our culture, money is often a taboo subject, and financial education isn’t always a priority. My mission is to change that by helping our kababayans understand how money, taxes & finance work here in Canada, so you can make empowered, informed decisions for your future.

matanong ko,why do you need to repay when you withdraw your rrsp let say to buy a home? dba pera mo yan na kinuha mo?
newly subscriber here.. anytime po ba pwedeng mawithdraw yung mga naihulog mo sa FHSA? I am planing po mag open ng account, im new lang din po dito sa canada..
Happy to see you here! Yes you can withdraw the funds po anytime sa FHSA but it will only be free from tax kung gagamitin niyo yung pera sa pagbili ng first home niyo. If you use it for something else, then it will be taxable po. Watch my video po about TFSA (tax-free savings account) if you want a more flexible account. Hope that helps. :)
Is it advisable pa rin po ba mag-open ng FHSA this year if may balak na kaming bumili ng bahay next year? (Just wanted to take advantage of the tax refund), pero baka mahirapan ma-withdraw kung wala pang 1 year?
100% yes! Kung may asawa po kayo, magbukas kayo parehas so you can maximize your tax savings!! Wala pong minimum holding period ang FHSA unlike homebuyers plan (HBP) ng RRSP, kaya even nagpaplano na kayong bumili ng bahay next year pwedeng pwede niyong itake advantage ang benefits ng FHSA as first time home buyers and sobrang smooth po ng withdrawal from FHSA. I've done it multiple times with my clients. If you open your FHSA before Dec 31 this year, you will get a total of $16k contribution space by next year, that's going to be a lot of tax savings for you!! If you need any assistance, feel free to send me an email to shielacabucol@gmail.com
Am I eligible for FHSA po kahit wala ako work? No income po ako. PR na po status namin.
Yes po you are eligible to open an FHSA as long as you are a first time home buyer. Hindi po related yung eligibility sa income at work. The first thing you could do is open this account para magsimula na kayong magccrrue ng contribution space. Once na back to work na po kayo pwede na kayo maghulog consistently every month.
Ang galing talaga! Sayang, too late nato para samin. Wait nalang po ako sa HBP video nyo po :) TIA!
Thank you khristian! I touched on a little bit about HBP sa part 2 of my RRSP video. If you have any questions ask kalang :D
Pampalakas tong channel mo. Very good!
Awe thank you Khristian 😇😇😇
Hello Shiela. Can you explain more about "You can wait to use your RRSP deductions until a later year...." as you mentioned on 12:10mins. Does it mean, I can put money to RRSP in year 2024 then claim the tax deduction in year 2026 when I have higher income?
You got it right! You can start contributing to your RRSP (if it makes sense with your income), but you don't have to use all its tax-deductible benefits every year. You can consult with your accountant and maybe use only SOME of it, so you don't pay more income tax than you need to. You can also use the rest of your contribution later on, like in 2026 as you said, if you're anticipating that your income will be higher-perhaps you're expecting a promotion, planning to take on a 2nd job, or considering selling rental properties, cottages, business assets, or stocks in your non-registered accounts in the next couple of years. RRSP offers this flexibility. Hope it helps.
@@ShieLovesFinance thank you
@@fatimaamor3882 you're very welcome :)
para sa akin madam eh mahirap makuntento sa mundong pabago-bago "para sa akin ha". Ako need pa din ng mga taong like you para magabayan ako. :)
Awe thank you Kuya Mark! And thanks for sharing your thoughts :D
kailangan talaga palitan ang name nang tfsa, it should be investment savings account siguro para iwas misconception. even the advisor kuno nag nag present samin nang insurance with investment, hindi raw maganda ung tfsa coz it's just savings. 🤦🏻♂️🤯
Aray kupo! But Sounds like you did your research po at hindi naniwala sa ganoong paraan! kudos to you! Marami kasing Pilipino ang nahuhulog sa ganitong trap. Separate your insurance and your investments. Registered Accounts should be maximize first before doing any investments in an insurance plan. I will make a video about this topic soon :)
Hello! Shiela. What if yung spouse mo ay wla p dito s Canada. Can you still declare him/her as your successor. Which is better for short term and long term investment or for retirement. TFSA or RRSP. Thank you so much.
I will get back to you po on the question about the successor to ensure I give you the most accurate answer. For short-term needs po , TFSA. For long-term, RRSP will make some sense if you are earning >$55k annually, if not TFSA is also a powerful vehicle to use for your long-term needs (retirement). Hope that helps
Hello! Shiela. Very informative ang vlog mo. Keep up the good work in giving very informative vlogs. God Bless.

How do I know if my RRSP agent is putting them in a right basket?
Your agent should create a proper investor profile to understand your goals, objectives, and risk tolerance. Increasing your financial education through these types of resources will also help you make informed decisions when planning for your future.
