      A high fasting blood sugar is a good sign of insulin resistance and poor blood sugar control. Thanks @craigblanc1334, you are correct. An elevated fasting blood sugar in the morning is a sign of your body being unable to maintain blood sugar through the night. When that happens your body will make more sugar in your liver from glycogen stores. At the same time your body will increase cortisol. This will often wake you in the middle of the night, too.

    If it is outside the normal range of 100 mg/dl after 8 hours of fasting, it means the body is not regulating blood glucose levels effectively. A healthy, non-diabetic person will be able to regulate an increase in glucose levels from a conversion of glycogen to glucose in the liver that is triggered by fasting.

      Way to go! Sugar that you eat, hits your opiate receptors in your brain and turns on cravings. When you detox from it, you feel better and have more control.

    that’s crazy!! i knew cortisol affects people in that way but it was actually quite the opposite for me. When my cortisol was at its highest, i was single digit body fat. which i’m sure actually caused my cortisol to be so high all the time. fast forward two years later cortisol levels are way lower but i’m fat because i’m comfortable with my body and don’t mind gaining weight anymore.

      Hi @jacoboriz4244, this is the frustrating thing with cortisol. A blood test cortisol isn't quite accurate to see what your body is doing. In the beginning under significant stress, where cortisol is high, often people might lose weight. Because the body is in a stress response however, prolonged experiences of stress results in a reregulation of the hypothalamic pituitary, adrenal axis. (HPA), that Controls your adrenal output of adrenaline and cortisol. When it gets re-regulated your free cortisol, maybe Lowe and your metabolize cortisol made to be high or low. When it gets disregulated, like this, you often get fatigue with weight gain.

    Yeah men really struggle falling asleep on a couch and we definitely don't experience trouble sleeping at night after taking a nap beforehand. Almost like all humans experience this.

    Wrong information.. these people died of depression which caused illnesses. They also didn't know about nutrition. 120 is ❤our lifespan. Wait on the Lord and you renew your strength you mount up with wings as eagles you run and not be weary and you walk and you don't faint. Honor your parents and you live alone and happy life.

    What should our docs be testing for? Labs in the past were borderline and or slightly abnormal but nothing anyone does anything about

      Well the first thing is the reference range is not ideal - that is just what we see in the population. You want to make sure that you doctor is testing all of the thyroid hormones and not just looking at TSH and a free T4. I recommend a full panel with the following labs to start: TSH, T4, Free T4, T3, Free T3, Reverse T3, TPO Antibodies, and Antithyrogolbulin Antibodies. If the free T3 is low and/or the Reverse T3 is high, you will have a competitive binding of reverse T3 on the receptors on the cell that will make the cell unable to use the active T3 hormone. If all of your labs are in range but T3 is on the lower end, you have a conversion problem. Also, if the thyroid levels are "in range" but you still have symptoms, the problem is likely adrenal and the adrenals need to be address along with thyroid.
