jessie was leader of the infamous james gang. the members included his brother frank and they robbed a lot of banks. on the other hand they got the blame for a lot of things that they did not do. I learned this song from the singing of Sweeneys Men in the 60s

born in Castlemaine Co. Kerry jack left Ireland at 16 years of age. walking over sliabh mish to the port of fenit he travelled to liverpool n a coal boat. then he travelled on to australia to a career of crime. Jack Duggan was shot when he met 3 troopers namely Kelly, Daves, and Fitzroy. Castlemaine residents are proud of Jack. Here he is a folk hero.

WOW Mr. Moriarty, what a wonderful remake and redo of the original lyrics by Tom T Hall. A job well done. Unfortunately I'm not up on your Irish politics or the politicians. That's OK I still love what you did with this song. I always had a liking for Irish accents especially iin music. Most importantly the original lyrics and of course what you put into this song has profound meaning and relevance of today's human experience. Thank you Pat. BTW, II'm from central USA.
