For those of us ignorant of the materials used, what material did you use for the two press pads and what are the four press clamps called, if you please?
Use closed cell foam at least 1” thick. The clamps are called “toggle clamps” and you can find them cheap at Harbor Freight. Good luck 🍻

I’m normally not one to say anything, but typically when re-surfacing an anvil you put shims under the bottom in order to angle the top surface more parallel to the machine table, as to remove as little material off the top as necessary while still making a flat surface.
Yes. Use carbide tooling and you are good to go 👍
