Were these ones reliable? The boat im imterested in buying has this exact engine..
I thought 2004 was the year they made the “direct injection” motor, not the ficht?

I have 1985 2 stroke and have swapped every part and still won't start, it cranks but no start. Any tips.
Hi, Can you list the parts you've changed. start with the basics and we can go from there. 1. have you confirmed you have spark? 2. are the plugs wet? 3. what are the compression #'s? 4. newer fuel? .....
Yes sir!! I have replaced the Stator,timer,fuel pumps,sparkplug wires, new fuel. When I spray starting fluid I hear a loud bang but not start. The flywheel spins at 3000rpm tested with a digital tool to check spark, bought it just for this project. I've b Noticed at wot my butterflies are not fully open so that's where am at. Thank you.
Compression on all 6 are between 85 and 91
@@ruckitupkno7728 A loud bag with starting fluid might suggest the spark sequence is off. Are you sure you have the coils connected to the computer correctly? the colour code wires must be connected to the right screw.
That shaft is way too short. The propeller is barely in the water.
have you had any problems owning it? i’m looking at a 150 motor on fb marketplace run and the guy says it may need a water pump bc when he goes to turn it over it’ll start but water doesn’t come out of exhaust port
Hi, water impellers should be replaced every 2-3 seasons. doesn't matter how much you use the engine since they permanently deform after this time and won't pump the high flows you need under wide open throttle. If you don't know when it was last changed, change it. They're inexpensive compared to a rebuild.

Hello, how are you, good evening, a question. I have an engine that is the same HPDI 200 and I have a problem. The engine worked well and one day when using it, the speed slowed down and it didn't work the same again. Now when I use it and accelerate, it turns off and runs slowly, where I try. Accelerate, it turns off, I put on the computer and so on and it doesn't fix, I changed the 6 new injectors and changed the fuel pump assy and it doesn't fix, does anyone have any help that you can give me? I'm from Panama.
Hi, sorry to hear your having trouble. Could be several causes of this condition. You said you replaced the fuel pump, but this engine has three fuel pumps. which one did you replace? All three must be operating for wot performance.
@@sherman645 According to the computer, when you put it in everything goes well, change the part that says Mitsubishi in pink. Do you have experience with these engines, friend, or an email to communicate better and send you photos? If you are very kind, I have the engine parked without using it and no one here in Panama can help me.
@@LeoMachado93 Hi, did you monitor the very high pressure pump pressures when accelerating? When this pump fails, the injectors don't receive the pressure needed to maintain the speed.

Wow you must've tested more outboards on the same rig than anyone in the world! Which one sounds the best? I would think this Merc 3 liter would be up there, or possibly Yamaha OX66!
Hey thanks. Yes I've tested alot over the years. I'm still partial to the Yamahaox66, the evinrude ficht or etec series, and of course the opti's for 2 strokes. Quiet and smooth. The newer 4 strokes also run well
@@sherman645 I think the Yamaha OX66 225/250 has the best sounding idle of any outboard ever! I've never been able to directly compare an OX66 with a Merc EFI throttling up though. But to me the Merc 250 EFI sounds better than the Optimax. I love the throaty note of a V6 two stroke getting out of the hole! Have you ever tried an Etec G2? Wonder how that would compare

I owned a Ficht 150 and never had a problem with it. I eventually sold the boat it was on. Must have been one of the lucky ones.

OMC's carbureted engines are great. I love my 1999 Johnson 150. It is super reliable. It's a shame these shit ass things put them out of business.
I’ve got a 2000 150 Ficht with 1365 hours. Still runs like new. Couldn’t ask for a nicer running motor.

when you get on plane you can just go you dont have to ease into it,, i did that for a while eventualy i bought a trim tab and lowerded it all the way for getting on plane fast

90vro this is Mechanical wonder mind fixed this old motor when we have sent it to Multiple marinas garages when everyone said it was toast.. I highly recommend his work and all my outboard motors will now be fixed here...
