Ultimate Guitar Challenge: Playthrough from beginner to advanced
I DID IT!! Thank you so much I was so confused but now all the tutorials make sense :)
0:28 “yeah!”
Drop C is golden tuning for metal. Drop A is nice for jazz guitar so we can play fine walking basslines while comping on higher strings at the same time if plucking with fingers. I do not know why should I bother playing or explaining 8 string. I would like to buy a baritone because I am mostly a rythm guitarist. I rarely touch the lead lines.
I use a wireless Line 6 and it works perfect in this. The neck I find, as someone with severe arthritis is easy to play on and the large fret markers make it easy for old eyes to see. I do agree, the pick ups are mediocre, but I use a Headrush or Headrush Prime, so I can EQ easily what I need. I personally hate when people say "It's good for the price" It is either good, or it isn't price is indifferent. If budget is an issue, you can't go wrong with this or an Ibanez Jem Jr, and they may work for you forever, don't try to excuse for the price. The looks, and the sound, and attention this guitar gets, I have no issue having it on stage
This looks very cool ! Are you still updating the website ?
the distributor accidentally sent two Mario pedals instead of the harmonizers we ordered. ummm I hate to sound old, but I dicked with that thing for 10 minutes and found no useful sounds. happy for you that you did. PS I know where to get a good deal on a couple of them.
😂 that deal sounds good. Shame you couldn't find a good sound. It is a bit challenging to find. Hope you get that Harmonizer soon
This guy acts like a kid on cocaine...Great guitar though
it's called unmedicated ADHD 😂😂 but your description does work 😅
That not how it goes it on 12 fret
Is it in the wrong key, or just one of the notes in incorrect?
@@TheGuitarNinja just one note
I got a js12 and fell in love with it. I definitely want this 3/4 one in my arsenal to record solos
It's super fun. Ive had a few come through the business now and I always want to keep them
Who would ask this 😂 the guitar world should know what dime played and its what he is known for so yeah 🤘🏼
Fair point, but you still watched the video to find out 😂😂 But Dimebag was also really good at knowing where on stage to stand to get the feedback to work best for him to play with. Maybe the guitar itself wouldn't squeal without that 😂😂
Very helpful,thank you
Happy to help, glad this was useful
Slipknot uses Drop B but they use 6 string guitars
yeah, I think I got mistaken because of 7, that they use 7 strings, my bad
2:53
Damn.... Great advice. Great guitar players all have that positioning. It's tough but hopefully it becomes second nature.
I want this guitar but the green one and change the tuners, strap locks, and emg passive pickups
Whats the tuning called for "dadgad?"
DADGAD is the name used for this tuning
@TheGuitarNinja no shit sherlock....it doesnt have another name like "drop - the gun" or something?
6:01 boss music. love it
Drop tunings are for Wankers!😮
Very helpful video brother 🙏🎸
glad it helped, have you seen the follow on videos?
Isn’t life nuts
Tuners shouldn’t be judged by staying in tune with a Floyd Rose. No tuner can be faulted for decreasing and increasing the tension so extremely. It’s the smooth feeling, the solid gearing and the strong clamp down on locking tuners. The higher gear ratio, like 18:1 minimum for fine tuning. Good finish and solid construction are what makes a good tuner. And it’s not redundant to use locking tuners ever. The locking nut is to maintain tuning with the Floyd. The locking tuners are for ease of string replacement. …like the other guy said.
'Promosm' 🌟
No wonder it sounds like shit. You put PRS through a £30 pedal!!! What you need to do is get a Gibson Custom Shop and then shove that through this pedal. 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
never understood a locking NUT and locking machine head tuners ?
Fair. The tuner helps both hold tune and make re-stringing easier. The locking nut is simple for holding tune while using a floating tremolo. so they are a little redundant together but its like a seatbelt and an airbag. you dont really need both, but its better to have both if you can.
My dad is one of those guys who hears it the second you go 3 cents off tune. One of those guys who has an all-day monologue on the science and curse of the naturally-out-of-tune g string. It's more annoying than helpful, honestly. When he comes over to my place and we play he just winces through the back half of any song because the little deviations that we don't hear sound very loud and bad to him. Like part of me wishes i had that ear, but part of me knows i'm happier without it.
That does sound more like a curse than a gift. The amount of things that sound out of tune to me that my newer students don't hear is painful enough, but 3 cents at all times would be killer!
Noob guitar question. Soooo drop d plays like drop c ?
yes, they are both played in the same way, just drop C is even lower in pitch
Super helpful !! Thanks !
Glad this helped :)
buddy, never adjust fr bridge post without relieving string tension to avoid grooving the post or damaging knife edges on the bridge plate, killer video, subscribed
Glad this was helpful. well worth mentioning in future for sure.
My son started on a cheap Harley Benton 3/4 Strat. Now my niece uses it. I'm a hobbiest luthier and have been frustrated with it. So hard to tune. I even put a decent set of machine heads from one of my decent quality Squires onto it when I was modding the Squire. But using 9's, which seemed kind to wee children's hands, defied even the decent tuning machines. And they are so noodly. A string has broken and a new set are due anyway so tomorrow I shall do a string change and set-up for my niece. Going 11s. At 20 inch scale length I think that'll be fine.
I know my reply is a bit slow, but I'm sure the 11s will work great. Let me know your thoughts on them with that guitar :)
I lowered my guitar to Drop OUT.
😂😂
Let's get something straight! Strings are NOT 1st 2nd 3rd string and so on . They are E A D G B e Who ever sys that it's 123 etc is dead wrong and don't know what they are talking about. Notes have ALWAYS been notes and numbers have been numbers. PERIOD! Other forms of music notation are numbers, BUT the strings are not. Get with the program. Ask any music professor.
interesting opinion. So the string numbers listed on most guitar sets are wrong, so the manufacturers are wrong? and also the names of all the strings have to change when we go into an alternative tuning? seems weird that there is a correct agreed way to number the strings from the thinnest string to the thickest if they don't use numbers. I am interested in your thoughts and why you're so opinionated about it
Very scientific.
For a seven string what is D#1 tuning? I’m kind of new to this tuning and I’ve been listening to sleep token and I just can’t seem to pin the tuning down.
7 string Drop D#1. I've heard a few people use the tuning terms differently with 7 strings. Some mention the 7th string and some the 6th string. do you know if the 7th or 6th string are tuned to D#? From that the rest of the strings should be easy to assist with.
Drop F and lower is now used in many metalcore bands. People realized how to make it less muddy kkkkk. Invent Animate, Currents, Silent Planet. It all probably started with Meshuggah
Mushuggah are definitely one of the best known bands for dropping low. Thank you for the comment, I hadn't thought about how the signal could be cleaned up.
Are there pros and cons to a chord strummed in standard vs drop? Does one sound more this or that?
Dropped strings are looser (unless you use a thicker gauge of string) so usually dropped tuning have a lower pitch but a more slappy tone, more open to unwanted buzz as well, but it's definitely preference over right or wrong. Korn, love the sting slappy sound and it worked great for them
@@TheGuitarNinja thanks. Thats a question I have for a long time. I have seen a lot of people play low tunings in standard and wondered if there was a reason they didn't commit to drop tunings. Always seemed easier and to make more sense to me. Probably to do with how they started out on guitar as well.
Put them on 3 acoustic guitars. Excellant!!!
Great video...that metal gear pickup is amazing..im currently building a tom delonge strat...was gonna go with the seymour duncan invader which comes in about 16.5k.. the metal gear is about 21k. Do you think it would be ok for my needs or would you suggest something else.. thanks
I never really think of strat guitars and high wound hum buckers, but I would say it depends on the tone you're after. The invader is one of my favourite pickups so I will always be a little bias. Doesn;t mean it's better though, just my personal choice.
To funny R.I.P DIME AND VINNIE
Does it stay in tune well even with heavy whammy abuse?
no. and if you're curious about string life too- no. this guitar is an eye popper
@@Hyperlink1337because that's a licenced Floyd Rose. An original Floyd is the way to go for keeping the guitar in tune. With that being said, it will need some fine tuning adjustment after the trem gets abused but not as much as the cheap trems.
Did you eat a lot of paint chips as kid?
Slipknot doesnt play 7 string guitars
Sorry, I'm a bit late to the party. The distorted sounds doesn't sound great overall. Too fizzy, like a bad solid state amp. Ironically, it sounded better through your amp at the end. I do love IronGear pickups though and have around a dozen or so.
I have a Brian May Mini May Electric, I changed out the tuners to Grover and put on ernie ball super slinky 9 11 16 24 32 42, then tuned to A D G C E A and had to intonate the E. Man, what a difference.
1:12 i am iron maaaan
3 years later you’ve got a new sub man!!
I really want3d to hear what that guitar sounded like but I instantly paused it because you’re are extremely fuckin irritating. Jesus Christ dude. Calm the fuck down….
Metal Machine was a clear winner for me.
i'm thinking of using 11s in standard tuning my 3/4 will it be good? I'm hoping to make it FEEL like 9s on regular size eGuitar.
Try one or the other first and see which one's you prefer. Thats really the only way to find what suits you best. I prefer 10's, but you may like 11's.
Will the 10's or 11's help keep the short scale in proper tune ❓
Either will hold a tune better than the 9's will on a 3/4 guitar.
Super helpful! I'm switching from acoustic to electric so i dont even know what these 'drop tuning' are. Cant wait to drop em up!
