I've been there 100 times and I thought I just couldn't enter that house yet. One time I was there and decided to use photo mode and spotted the window you can climb into. I felt really dumb

You can do this from the start, you can’t get in the door so shoot the window and climb in. In the cupboard downstairs is jewellery, cigarettes on the mantlepiece and the cash in the lockbox, it’s only there once though. Then from there go directly south of Wallace station, just over the little creek river, there’s a right hand bend where you’ll find a stack of furniture, a chest contains a large jewellery bag worth $50, small coin purse, miracle tonic and cigarettes for a card. When collected, ride to the railway bridge, go back and the chest is full again. Shady Belle at the bottom by the graveyard, you’ll find a chest in the little building, there’s $77 everytime! Your welcome!

On my third or fourth playthrough I overheard Dutch telling Hosea (in Chapter 1) that he would send someone back to check on the Adler cabin. I said to myself "Oh. I know there is a loot box there so I will go do it myself." I started to ride down the trail from the Colter camp and soon got the message that it is too cold and that I should turn back. I was wearing the winter outfit, but understood that this is just Rockstar telling me I'm not allowed to go there yet. I immediately turned around but both me and my horse died from the cold. Good thing I saved right before that.
