Hi, I know the ferry arrives at Otaru at 4:30am but how long are you allowed to remain on board for? Because 4:30 is definitely too early 😂😂 but I really want to try taking this ferry next time I am in Japan. Thanks a lot!!

That's great! I saw the Showa museum on the map as I was leaving town and wondered what it was like. However, I am disappointed you didn't try the sauce katsu. I went to the usual places, including the castle grounds (where I had sauce katsu), the garden, and the big hill with the Byakkotai memorial and the Sazae temple. I also stayed at Cuisine Inn Tagoto where the food was delicious.

Now you're really making me think I have to take another trip to Fukushima to see Koriyama. My main stop in Fukushima was Aizuwakamatsu.

Ooh, that Nihonshu looked good. It's so very regional I never can keep track of it.

How did you make it to Asahikawa? I thought you were just in Hakata before this. Or was it Chitose? :) Looks nice up in Biei!

Those pork chops looked interesting. I had a pork bowl in an arcade in Sapporo and I liked it so much I went back twice and even took a Canadian guy from Getty Images there. The food in Hokkaido is so good.

I just realized I never went into the Red Brick warehouses! I was looking for lunch and that Lucky Pierrot you showed had a line going out onto the sidewalk. In fact, that whole area was quite crowded. I ended up going to the Lucky Pierrot around the corner which wasn't crowded at all and then walked up Mt. Hakodate. I completely forgot about the warehouses!

I almost missed the morning market too! I was wondering where Haokoviva was and that's because I visited in September of 2019, just before they opened! I remember the FamilyMart and the guarana soda I could only get in Hokkaido.

That doesn't seem to far from Sapporo, but I'm sure it's much farther than it looks on the map. Still, it looks like a nice place to visit and it is making me quite hungry. :)

Hokkaido is so pretty and the food is so good! I bet it's hard in the wintertime though.

I haven't been to Muroran but I recognized the name because it's near Noboribetsu and I've been there! Isn't Muroran where they have the giant rusted cranes for shipbuilding or something? Also, love pictures of mix fry!

You're back! I think my favorite at Lucky Pierrot was something that wasn't the Chinese Chicken burger. Maybe it was the Lucky Egg Burger. In the couple of days I was there I went at least twice. One of the times there were two guys from the Philippines trying to eat that giant stacked burger. Oh and the first Lucky Pierrot I tried to go to was the Marina Suehiro store and there was a huge line to get in. There were two more a block away that weren't as full. It looks like driving around Hakodate is more fun than all the walking I did. I even hiked up the mountain and took the cable car back down. Did you see Japan's first ferroconcrete utility pole? Oh, and if you didn't try the craft beer, I don't think you missed much. :)

Wow a month-long trip! Sounds great! I only spent a couple of days in Hakodate and I think that's all I needed. :) The beer was OK but I had to try a couple of different things at Lucky Pierrot before I found my favorite. And I bet you're going to drive up Mt. Hakodate instead of walking to the top like I did.

Hooray! Another ferry trip! I've never been on a long ride like that before and it's always fun to see. You guys must really like Hokkaido!

That does look like a pretty spectacular shrine. I would recommend going to Izumo Taisha but I couldn't figure out how you guys would get there. Ferry from Niigata to Maizuru maybe burt there's still so much driving! Ise Jingu was nice too.

I heard of a place near Narita where there's a 30-minute tabehodai strawberry picking! I'm jealous because we're still several months from strawberry season here. And day camping sounds fun. Get to see nature and I think there are more bugs in the evening. Plus, beds are more comfortable indoors.
