    Your videos are super awesome. Sorry to hear about your red flesh apples. Will you make a video about your pear and fig trees? Also you cleaned that up nicely. Do the birds get into your plants?

    • @DutchmansNursery
      @DutchmansNursery День назад

      Thank you very much! The pear's been taking care of itself honestly, haven't had to prune it or anything! The fig I could for sure, it's just fairly minor stuff. The birds are a bit of a menace, lol. I just put up physical barriers, like logs on the soil, etc. Prevent them from digging.

      @ yeah I lived in the bothel area for almost a decade as a teenager and young adult and I remember finding huckleberries, salmon berries, plum trees and lol even magic mushrooms but I never realized those big nasty thorn bushes with the delicious big blackberries were invasive imports, it’s really interesting, I ended up in this rabbit hole from discovering the kudzu vine, if I could go back in time I’d have gone into forestry/wildland management or something, Washington is amazing, as an AZ native it’s pretty much a paradise to me. Thanks for sharing.

    • @DutchmansNursery
      @DutchmansNursery 2 дня назад

      @ As long as you're 100% sure on what you're looking at, foraging wild fruit/mushrooms is so much fun! We'd find blackberries as well, but also red currants, wild strawberries, and apples. Forestry does sound like a lot of fun, and rewarding. Speaking of Washington, I find the native blackberry along rivers usually. It's smaller, but very sweet and delicious as well! I find it rockhounding usually (on my other channel).

      There's pesticides you can use, but personally I prefer to avoid that and prune out affected branches. They'll look more weak and sickly, pruning those out encourages new, vigorous growth. I hope that helps!

      @@Mynameisnotimportant For sawfly larvae you can use pyrethrin (which is organic), they're the larvae that eat the currant leaves. For currant borers you'd need more heavy duty pesticides (which is why I just prune) like bifenthrin, or chlorantraniliprole. I hope that helps!
